Wow can Powell set a scene! I could feel the heaviness of a Louisiana summer against my skin. & the insidious creeping horror as we don‘t know really know anything that‘s going on. Really reminds me of Alma Katsu‘s historical horror. & I‘m definitely going to look up more by Powell. 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑
pickI just finished PS while vacationing in FLA. I enjoyed this read so much and remain in awe of Kingsolver‘s writing acumen! 3 interwoven stories taking place in a mountainous valley of Appalachia. I found myself tearing up and laughing out loud. Kingsolver‘s ability to put me in the setting is perfection itself! I felt like I was in this lush green world! This was so clever! So much word play, & definitions of words is never even heard of. I liked Mallory‘s story & her relationship with Pip more & would have liked more of it. & the examination of language & changing meanings was great! 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑
