Odd things keep on happening to Percy Jackson, and at last he finds out why. He's a son of Poseidon. And now he has to go on a quest to the Underworld and challenge Hades.
Fun book setting themes from Greek myth in modern day America.

I didn't have time to read yesterday so I took it today. I still need to finish the tagged book that I started in March (and also 2 others🙈). The tea is herbal called sweet dreams.

My 8 year old & have been reading this at bedtime, she‘s obsessed. She has become obsessed with mythology & is always checking out books at the library about Greek mythology. This is my first time reading the series. As you can see this book is well loved (my husband read this series to our middle child at least twice). All of my kids have ADHD, so having a character that they can relate to & see their disability represented matters. #bookspin

Spring is finally here and I can read outside. We finally have some sun. The beginning of March was colder than January, last week it rained and also we lost my father in law. Hope Spring brings us better days and more sun🌞☘️🌷

This is one of the few series that both my daughter and myself loved. She went through a Greek mythology phase so she accumulated tons of books over the years. This series of books were the only ones that survived the donation piles each year.

I said it before and I say it again: “never judge a book by its movie”. I grabbed it after a peaceful Sunday afternoon watching the movie on tv, after mere curiosity, and that very same day I got the book and started reading it.
FULL REVIEW IN MY BLOG: https://abookandateacup.blogspot.com/2016/12/review-lightning-thief.html
Enjoyable read. I have a thing against cliff hangers and this was a complete story in and of itself while also setting up the probability of other books.
I do enjoy retellings because of the familiarity and not needing to wade through too many twists and turns. This one, aimed at pre-teens, is neither dark nor falling for the current trend of making everyting a romance.
According to my tracking, I read this about 10-ish years ago. Picked it up on audiobook again as Disney has a new TV series out. I would say that it still holds up and it is just as enjoyable.
Is anyone watching percy jackson? I love it so far and I think it's a great adaptation. I'm also rereading the book along with the series :) I'm so glad this time the adaptation is what the author envisioned.
I made dinner to celebrate the premiere of the Disney+ show!
Everything looks much bluer in person, I promise. 😅
This looks so so good and the cast is perfection!

Trials, deceit, and restoration all revolve around classic mythological characters brought into the 21st century, demonstrating the enduring nature of western civilization. Overall, a cute read. I can see why all the boys I was friends with in Middle School were obsessed with it. Didn't enjoy this enough to continue with the series, but I want to check out Riordan's Egyptian mythology series.
One last book photo before this trio heads to Jr. High!! I‘m sad but happy and blessed that they call me Mrs. B. Three more days…
Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief ⚡️ by Rick Riordan is a thrilling adventure through Greek mythology. A gripping plot, relatable characters, and witty humor make it a must-read for book lovers. Riordan's world-building is exceptional, transporting you to a world of gods and monsters. #PercyJackson #LightningThief #RickRiordan #GreekMythology #Adventure #MustRead #BookReview #PageTurner #YA #Fantasy #ActionPacked #HeroicJourney #Magical
This was a really fun mythology story! I loved the characters and the plot. It‘s innocent, but there are epic battle scenes. The names of the chapters spoil the chapter, but in a way that makes you curious. I didn‘t like part of the ending, but I hear book 2 solves the problem. I am going to start sea of monsters soon.
It's funny how humans can wrap their mind around things and fit them into their version of reality.
3/5⭐ You know you've out-aged a series when you keep yelling at the adults for putting way too much responsibility on 12-year-olds. #booked2022
Unabridged Audiobook (10/10):
It has been at least 10 years since I first read this story, and man does it still hold through the rest of time. Rick Riordan manages to craft a world that is so rich, vibrant, and full of intellect; something that I feel is rarely done so elegantly with mythology. The story is heartfelt, relatable, touching, and constantly suspenseful.

I am a couple of decades late to the party but heck, I‘m glad to be here! Talk about a fun, gripping novel. I was hooked the whole way through. I love what Rick Riordan is doing with his platform so was excited to read his work alongside the awesome new work he‘s promoting by diverse authors ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Im doing my own 24 hour readathon starting at 8pm. Im going to read the Percy Jackson books
THE TEASER TRAILER DROPPED!!!
Seriously, I am so excited! These books were my favorite for years. They still have a whole shelf on my (admittedly tiny) bookcase!
#WondrousWednesday Thank you @Desha for tagging me. 1) I try hard to read everyday but some days are definitely harder than others. 2) I always carry a book with me and will read while waiting or when there is downtime. I also try to read before bed. 3) My comfort genre is middle grade. Give me Percy Jackson to spend time with and I am a happy girl. I can read those books over and over
Really enjoyed this book. My 12 year old cousin gave this book because she loves the series and wanted me to read it. When I was a kid I loved reading mythology. I enjoyed a modern take on Greek mythology. Very creative and interesting characters.
Good time zone! Today on my #bookshelftour I'll show you some of my Rick Riordan collection. Some of his books are on my TBR shelves and thus not shown.
Do you own books in more than one edition/language? I own the original Percy Jackson books in Italian, English, and Dutch (the latter was a gift from a dear friend, as I'm learning his language).

I am excited for this! My kiddo loved the books, we saw the movies, and went to Broadway musical! I loved some of the other series, but this one will always be a favorite because of my kid! I told him we have to watch!! Lol he is dreading it. Lol #percyjackson #lightingthief #disney #fantasy #ya

loved. obsessed. don‘t care that they‘re for a “younger audience”. Greek mythology (if you (mortals) don‘t believe it‘s real) is so cool. took me a minute to collect all the old covers but alas, as Percy does, I prevailed.
This is one of those books “everyone“ has read but I just never got to. I really enjoyed this rollicking MG adventure even if it did lack some depth. It was interesting to delve into the negative reviews on GR. Most people bashed it as being a HP knockoff, which I guess I see but also feel like in many ways Riordan did just follow some common tropes, which HP does as well. I think this book would do well for slightly younger audience than HP ⬇
Book 1 for 2022 finished! A little later than usual this year, but all I have wanted to do is rest with this stupid sinus infection.

I have a book where I write down quotes I thunk are inspiring and/or relate to me. Is that weird?
As a kid I never actually got around to reading this series. Decided to give it a try! Although clearly meant for a younger audience there was a surprising amount of adult humor thrown in here and there. The story was quite fun and easy to follow. Probably woulda been more head over heels for it as a younger person but was still entertained!
What a fun and enjoyable read! I enjoyed the modern characterizations given to the "gods". The struggle of Percy to accept who he is was a great part of the story. The grit to complete his quest is admirable. Well worth reading.
I need an "easy " read after Dead Wake. This should be quite fun.

1) Egyptian phase as a kid. Dove into Arthurian phase during my studies.
2) Ancient Greece
3) done, although I'd like to mention that my favourite retelling of the Greek myths is Fry's Mythos

Day 1
It was amazing! You can read it one hundred times and not get sick of it. It was like you were pulled into the book. I really enjoyed it.
“What if it lines up like it did in the Trojan War ... Athena versus Poseidon?“
“I don't know. But I just know that I'll be fighting next to you.“
“Why?“
“Because you're my friend, Seaweed Brain. Any more stupid questions?”

My favorite parts of the book were seeing Percy and his friendships with Grover and Annabeth grow and expand. Fun book.
How I feel after my reread of this great book. So relaxed and happy I can‘t wait to continue reading these books! It‘s been a while and they are a joy. I really liked the illustrated version too it was a lot of fun to dive into.

This MF (mythical fiction), LC book will be a fun add to fifth grade classrooms! The major theme of this book is identity. After being expelled from several schools, Percy ends up at a private school in upstate New York for troubled kids. From there, his life takes a turn as he realizes who his father really is, and he embarks on a quest to find what he is accused of stealing.
