She tells about her being prejudged and discriminated against for her skin and gender and how the people she‘s close to affected her life. She brings up issues that they face in Barak‘s presidency. She was totally capable of acing on her bar exam, but she was busy with life to study. There‘s never a dull moment.

Star Wars: Book of Sith | Daniel Wallace
Pickpick

This book tells some of the history of the galaxy from the perspective of the sith. I think they included some characters from the cartoon, because some of the Sith legends were new to me. They show technology, religion, monsters and alchemy unique to the sith. Darth Sidious shares his secrets of how to conquer and rule the galaxy, and the jedi can only protest. It shows the psychology of the dark side of the force.

his book tries to make it feel like you are a Jedi. It teaches you the Jedi philosophies, describes their training and learning curriculum. It takes you step by step up the ranks telling you what you learn and what the requirements for the next rank are. It also teaches you about aliens and weapons and starships. There are commentaries in colored marker from well known characters. You‘ll find some philosophy including quotes. It‘s a fun read!

The attitude of Hamad on white men is quite extreme. She takes a quote from a pervert Ernestine Hill. and applies it to all white men “The black woman understands only sex,” page 31. I am not denying abuse to blacks from the age of slavery, but there were many white men that didn‘t own slaves. On pages 36 and 37, she blames a children‘s movie (Pacohantis) for sexualization of and violence against native women. See continuation below.

JohnLAndBenji When men give their life for women it is romantic, but when Pochahontis gives her life for her man, Ruby gets cheesed! To be fair though, the Gone with the wind book is a dumpster fire of racism and I understand why she hates it. (edited) 6mo
JohnLAndBenji The types of injustices she protests are serious, and I can‘t argue that lots of the injustices that white men have done are atrocities, and one of the women Ruby uses as an example on page 55 was Josefa Segovia. (content warning) She should have been praised for defending herself, and compensated, but she was executed for harming the men who tried to **** her. The justice system in this case was cruel and senseless and worth protesting… 6mo
JohnLAndBenji I‘m not going to read the whole book, but there are lessons to be learned about white male abuse on people of color, and that it still is an issue to this day, but the author never seems to address that there are exceptions to her stereotype. I have other things to read, but I hope this is a fair partial book evaluation. (edited) 6mo

This book on space teaches from the big bang, to the end of the universe with all major events, missions, and discoveries in between. It has high quality photos in many pars. It covers lots of astronomy theories and my favorite was Focault‘s Pendulum to describe how the solar system worked. Everything is in chronological order. I will provably revisit this book to review so that I can talk to friends about the universe.

Kamal Harris is a smart woman who writes about her biggest influences and how they affect her. She also protests unfair laws, discrimination, cheap salaries and violence, overpriced drugs and stingy health insurance, among other things. She is the voice for those that cannot defend or prosecute their abusers and shares some of their stories. She explains the harms of racism and sexism. This book may be triggering and is for mature readers only.

I found an astronomy theory in this book that really impressed me. Focault‘s pendulum is a pendelum that represents Earth, it swings on a three dimensional plane. The Earth/ pendelum is spinning. The Earth orbits the sun. There is a good youtube video of this by a Dartmouth professor.

On jail reform “The disparity is so high that at any given time, roughly nine out of ten people who are detained can‘t afford to pay to get out.” Kamala Harris says that since the bail is not proportional to people‘s salary it “By its very design, the cash bail system favors the wealthy and penalizes the poor.” And “Whether or not someone can get bailed out of jail shouldn‘t be based on how much money he has in the bank. Or the color of his skin.”

M Nakayama is not a random teacher. He was 9th degree blackbelt! Most of this book is about white to green, or at most purple belt, techniques with applications followed by combinations with those techniques. If karate is new for you and you can‘t take classes, then this is the next best thing, and he also writes kata books in his best karate series, in which the Heian katas (minus heian sandan, which he did‘t make) will be most helpful.

The Souls of Black Folk | W. E. B. Du Bois
Pickpick

Web Dubois educates the reader of the horrors and injustices of slavery. He writes about experiences or poor black people. As a civil rights leader, he pushed for equality of women and colored people. He evaluates the barriers that prevent abolition and women‘s rights. As a leader in the NAACP, he knows how to use psychology and analytics to lead people to question the racist social norms and create empathy.

Barak Obama tells the readers about his influences and experiences. He explains the major decisions he made and why he made them. We see his sense of humor, his intellect, and his emotional intelligence in this great book. I look forward to his speeches book at some time in the future.

I understand why people like this book. There were a few good quotes that I highlighted, but I still don‘t fully recommend it. I was occasionally offended, but I could tell the author had good intent. It‘s not life changing, but there are a few parts that make you think differently.

A Promised Land | Barack Obama

I saw the possibility of practicing the values my mother had taught me; how you could build power not by putting others down but by lifting them up.”

In a world where bullying is everywhere, I feel this is a good reminder on how to interact with people.

skewermann @JohnLAndBenji I think you'd enjoy my scorching exposé of the Chump administration, following the movements of the inimitable Ronnie Chump - "Dire and Puny" ( not to be confused with "Fire and Fury"? ) - Martha Skewermann, Global Allegorical Journalism Foundation ?✒?? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B081S5JLTX 11mo
