Enjoyed this new-to-me author cozy mystery! It‘s the first in the series and I‘m sure I‘ll read some others!

Second in the Gamache series, and it counts for #setinacanadianprovince for #booked2022. Kind of an obvious choice for that one 😂 I did enjoy it, but it‘s a bit more “cozy” and I usually prefer my murder mysteries to be a bit more on the edge of the seat. I‘d still like to finish the series, as Armand Gamache is one of my favorite book characters ♥️

Cinfhen Glad it worked for #Booked22 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 2d
Amiable I love this series. 😍 2d
CBee @Amiable I‘d heard it starts a bit slower and gets better with each book. I think I was having a weird week because it was a slow read for some reason 🤷‍♀️ 2d

Amiable @CBee It definitely gets better as it goes. For me, the individual mysteries themselves are less of a draw than the overarching narrative that slowly reveals itself throughout the course of the series. 1d
CBee @Amiable I definitely want to keep reading them! Have you read the entire series? 1d
Amiable @CBee All the ones she‘s written so far, yes! 🙂 1d
CBee @Amiable well, I‘ve discovered that they‘re on Kindle Unlimited, at least through book 6 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 1d

Ok, so I started this thinking it would be a murder mystery. Husband died in a mysterious way, did the wife do it?

While their was murder and almost murder as well as some mystery, they weren‘t all wrapped together. So I‘m still counting this towards the Murder Mystery prompt for #Booked2022 since it had all the elements.

I loved this book. Beatriz marries Rodolfo Solorzano for security but when she arrives at his house The Hacienda, she quickly realizes that Rodolfo's first wife's ghost never left & she's in a lot of trouble.

I have finished a book!! Though it did take me twice as long as normal🫤 Bk1 of #MarvellousMay #readathon is done. The authors latest novel, it was a standalone & set in the US instead of Ireland. Very diabolical, an unreliable MC & it turns out, unreliable characters everywhere. It‘s very twisty with grey motives abounding all over the place. A very nice read. And my #Bookspin for May #Booked2022 #MakeYourOwnPrompt #BookspinBingo #Pop22

Cinfhen Yay!!!! Glad you‘re getting your #ReadingMoJo back ❤️❤️ 4d

I tried for a few weeks but in the end I gave in. I made about 50% and realized I had a completely different expectation of the book that it just wasn‘t meeting. So I‘ll need to go back to drawing board for the #Booked2022 Nautical Adventure prompt.

Cinfhen Ugh. Sorry it didn‘t work 😓u can still count it towards your challenge 4d
Christyco125 @Cinfhen Thanks. I‘m a completer so DNF are extra hard. 4d
Cinfhen I hear you!! 4d
Smarkies I bailed on my nautical book as well. I think I have a new one picked out. 10h

“But with a glimmer of willingness, language can do so much to squash independent thinking, obscure truths, encourage confirmation bias, & emotionally charge experiences such that no other way of life seems possible.” I really never thought a lot about how language can be used as a tool to manipulate people. I really liked this book & found it totally fascinating. #bookspin #nonfinction2022: I‘m an escapee, #booked2022: about a cult

ncsufoxes Plus I will never look at gyms/exercise memberships the same way again. 5d

My Brother | Jamaica Kincaid
post image

This was a memoir Kincaid wrote after the death of her brother in the mid-90's to HIV/AIDS. It felt very personal, almost like a stream-of-consciousness diary she was writing to help in the processing of her grief. As such, it was hard to follow her train of thought at times. I'm glad I read it, but not sure I would recommend it.

#booked2022 about HIV or AIDS
#nonfiction2022 #ImAnAngel

Cinfhen Interesting choice. Too bad it wasn‘t a total pick. 5d
