Book 1 for 2022 finished! A little later than usual this year, but all I have wanted to do is rest with this stupid sinus infection.

mom2bugnbee @TheAromaofBooks It's wonderful! And I enjoyed his Kane Chronicles (Egyptian mythology) even more! 3w

TheRiehlDeal @TheAromaofBooks You‘ll love this series! I couldn‘t wait to read the next book. But as for his other series, I just couldn‘t get into them. Maybe, because I‘m comparing them to the Percy Jackson series. 3w

As a kid I never actually got around to reading this series. Decided to give it a try! Although clearly meant for a younger audience there was a surprising amount of adult humor thrown in here and there. The story was quite fun and easy to follow. Probably woulda been more head over heels for it as a younger person but was still entertained!

What a fun and enjoyable read! I enjoyed the modern characterizations given to the "gods". The struggle of Percy to accept who he is was a great part of the story. The grit to complete his quest is admirable. Well worth reading.

Thanks for the tag @RaeLovesToRead!

1) Egyptian phase as a kid. Dove into Arthurian phase during my studies.
2) Ancient Greece
3) done, although I'd like to mention that my favourite retelling of the Greek myths is Fry's Mythos

Got home late last night from my trip to a couple national parks, so we‘re doing road trip questions today! 🚗💨

1. This was the first one I thought of! 😂
2. Mark Watney, funny, capable, could probably fix anything that went wrong with the car.
3. Space, definitely. Getting to see sights unseen by any human before? Sign me up!

#SundayFunday I hope you all are having a great summer (or winter in the Southern Hemisphere), and remember to tag me!

This MF (mythical fiction), LC book will be a fun add to fifth grade classrooms! The major theme of this book is identity. After being expelled from several schools, Percy ends up at a private school in upstate New York for troubled kids. From there, his life takes a turn as he realizes who his father really is, and he embarks on a quest to find what he is accused of stealing.

Betrinag Best used in a LC, this book will capture the attention of students from the start. Read, Write, Think provides resources and plans to help organize a LC in the classroom. http://www.readwritethink.org/classroom-resources/lesson-plans/literature-circle... UDL principle 3.3 concerning guiding information processing, along with EL 16 regarding integrating listening and speaking activities, pair well with this book. 11mo
Betrinag A bonus to add is this book is available in a teacher‘s edition, and is the one I own! After the story, there are discussion questions and classroom activities that can be used with your class, or inspire other creative ideas of your own. #ucflae3414sp21 11mo
DrSpalding You truly paid attention in class and have used high-quality resources like read write think to enhance your knowledge of teaching strategies and how to implement good books into your curriculum. 9mo

15-24 Jan 2021 (audiobook)
For me, Greek Myths are essential childhood reading. Like bible stories, the characters appear again and again in pop culture.
We read this series with Polly when she was 8 (both reading, as enthralled as she was). Mythos prompted me to try the audiobooks with Trixie. The complex characters and relationships have confused her at times (she is 5!) but she thoroughly enjoyed it and is keen for more. As are Polly and I.

I have dragged my feet on this series and I'm finally done. I just never fully connected with the characters and early on it felt like these demigod kids weren't in any real danger. This book winds it all up, probably a bit too neatly, but at least it felt like there was some danger. I can see how kids and young teens may enjoy these, but I'm glad to be finished.

Started this the other day. So far I‘m sucked in and the only thing I‘m not a fan of is how the main character is supposed to be 12 but the dialogue makes him seem older. I have the graphic novel to go along with this series. I‘m thrilled because I love anything involving Greek gods and this series comes highly recommended to me.

I finished before my time ran out. I enjoyed the plot. #Percy Jackson is an interesting character inspired by Riordan‘s child who also has dyslexia and ADHD. Interesting plot with LOL moments. Charon: how did you die? We drowned in the bathtub. All three of you together?

Listening on audiobook. When I was younger I loved Greek mythology. I could name all of the Greek and Roman Gods. I‘ve heard so much about this series so I listened to determine if my nephew is ready. The story line is intriguing and does not dumb down the information like a lot of middle grade books. No profanity which is also a bonus. There is the evil step parent trope but it‘s explained. I have an hour left. We shall see.

4 STARS - I listened to this exciting series featuring Percy Jackson, a 12-year-old boy who finds himself on a quest with two friends to solve a mystery and stop a war. Filled with fantastical Greek mythological creatures, gods and epic powers, this is a great start to a very popular series. Great for 10+.

When I was 10-13, I adored the Percy Jackson series, but I never read the other #RickRiordan series. Thanks to all the new hype surrounding it due to the Disney series, I went on a buying spree and downloaded all Rick Riordan books - PJ, Heroes of Olymp, Kane Chronicles, Magnus Chase, Trials of Apollo. I‘m very happy.

#20Days20Series Day 6

There is so much to love about this series & so many reasons why it it finds a place on my #Top20Series. There‘s the updated retelling of Greek mythology—accessible, fun & fascinating. Then there‘s Percy himself, a kid with ADHD & dyslexia—so important for readers like him to see. There is a fantastic array of secondary characters. Adventure. Danger. It might be MG but it‘s perfect for readers of all ages.

@Andrew65

I read this years ago and always meant to read the rest of the series, but got distracted by other books. (Like none of you know what that feels like.) So I decided to finally read the rest of the series, which meant reading this again.

I was struck by some similarities between this and the Harry Potter series, like the 3 teaming together and the protection of a less than adequate home during the summer. And adults not explaining things.

I'm literally the last human to read this book, so I'm sure everyone already knows it's a totally enjoyable middle-grade fantasy. American Gods, except for kids. The 11yo is beyond thrilled that I'm now on the Olympians train. I'm going to read the rest of this series in prep for the upcoming (like waaaaaay upcoming, like several years away maybe) Disney Plus series adaptation. Anybody else excited about the PJO books being adapted as a series? Rick Riordan already made a blog post about all the things he didn't like about the movie adaptation. Since he will be involved this gives me hope that the series will stay true to the books.

Riveted_Reader_Melissa Oh, I hope too! They have done so few well, and no surprise those were the ones to make it through multiple movies sequels. Fingers crossed these are good, please...I‘ve been so disappointed before, by Percy and I Am Number 4, Vampire Academy, Eragon, etc, etc, etc... (edited) 2y
