Really enjoyed this… some very funny passages as usual & also pretty thought provoking with some interesting musings on the philosophy of time / history… #doublespin for April done!

I‘ll admit, I‘m one of the oddballs who does not always love the Death books (I tend to prefer the Guard & Witches), but I love Susan and the Monks of Time and for me that made this one a fun pick.

My mother knows that I‘ve been learning Welsh on Duolingo for the past little while, and she found me the one Discworld novel that‘s been translated into Welsh!
I am nowhere near fluent enough to read it yet, but I am so unbelievably happy I have it! It‘s going to sit on my nightstand as incentive to practice! ❤️
Okay, but real talk - the romance? Why? I get Susan yearning for someone like herself, but I feel like she doesn't interact much with Lobsang. Like, I thought she had more going on with Unity (and why did poor Unity have to die??)!

The parts of this book I like, I REALLY liked, and the parts I didn't left me pretty cold. Fortunately there's way more of the first part! Less confusing than I remembered too.

Glad to see that last paragraph from someone who has spilled so much ink over fictional cops. Not surprised, but glad.
#OokBOokClub
I had forgotten that my copy of this book has text bleed over from the previous page, which is making reading more irritating than it should be. Great!

On to the next #OokBOokClub book and my vague memory of it is that it's confusing - let's find out!
I love a good Discworld adventure and this is no exception. This is almost like the Good Omens of Discworld. It has an unlikely team that‘s trying to prevent the destruction of everyone and everything. I love Susan as a teacher and all the cool things she can do for her students. I also love that the parents are upset they‘re learning and enjoying it, and that they can‘t wait to do their homework.

The Auditors want to bring the world to an end but they have reckoned without one thing - chocolate.
Not so many parallells with our world in this one but it was still a great story, though I wish the ebooks were better formatted so that changes from one scene to another were more obvious.
A chocolate you did not want to eat does not count as chocolate. This discovery is from the same branch of culinary physics that determined that food eaten while walking along contains no calories.

“No one would be that stu—”
Susan stopped. Of course someone would be that stupid. Some humans would do anything to see if it was possible to do it. If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying “End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH,” the paint wouldn‘t even have time to dry.
Another great Discworld novel! I had not read this one before. I love the character Susan, who is Death‘s granddaughter. She can really take control of most situations.
Sietje is making sure there are no critters under there. The rain really brought out some flowers!
I probably won‘t last too long out in the 100 degree heat, but I‘m trying for a bit.
So true, isn‘t it?
I‘m headed into Discworld again.
I have still not caught up on my record keeping.
Tomorrow. Tomorrow I will update my book count, if not the dates I finished them.
Today is knitting and more Pratchett. Though to be fair, every day now seems to be knitting and Pratchett.
Had to look up Liaisons to be reminded what, exactly, it was, and instead of talking about the Picard storyline (seek consent EVERYONE ON STAR TREK) I drew a line to another Discworld touchstone. Chocolate it an important part of a piece of Liaisons and the experience of chocolate is surprisingly emotional in Thief of Time.

Been house sitting and pet minding for a friend, so I've been without my usual distractions at home. Hence, I've been doing a lot of reading. This was probably one of my favourite Discworlds. One thing Pratchett does I hate is the small chapters that don't set the scene - I like to know from the first few words where the characters are, for context. Pratchett is good with the social commentary though. Overall, enjoyed this one.
Discworld 26 revolves around the sinister Auditors and the construction of a perfect clock which will stop Time. As usual it's fairly pointless trying to make much logical sense of the plot. This one has a big role for Death, as well as Death's granddaughter Susan. The last fifty pages are devoted to a desperate attempt to make some kind of sense of the plot, leaving less space for the jokes, but overall this is a worthy addition to the canon.
The Auditors had tried to understand religion, because so much that made no sense whatsoever was done in its name. But it could also excuse practically any kind of eccentricity. Genocide, for example. By comparison, a lack of tea drinking was easy.
If children were weapons, Jason would have been banned by international treaty. Jason had doting parents and an attention span of minus several seconds, except when it came to inventive cruelty to small furry animals, when he could be quite patient. Jason kicked punched, bit, and spat.... He was definitely a boy with special needs. In the view of the staff, they began with an exorcism.
Apparently the appropriate cure for impending reading slump is Pratchett. Shall now enjoy some Death with chocolate. 🍫
Susan is back to save the Discworld‘s Time. I love her as a character and was glad to see her save humanity with chocolate 😄👍🏻
I thought other Littens might appreciate this one - it‘s clipped from a much longer passage, which is also worth checking out. #restless #Quotsy #QuotsyMay18 #LitsyQuoteChallenge
"The perfect #moment is now. Be glad of it." #QuotsyApril18 #QuotsyCatchup I've posted this quote before, but I thought it was fitting for this prompt.
"There was, of course, nothing there. At least, nothing #macabre... ...unless you counted the piece of chocolate half gnawed by rat teeth and a note in heavy gothic lettering saying: SEE ME and signed by a very familiar alpha-and-omega symbol and the word Grandfather." #QuotsyJan18
“Questions don't have to make sense, Vincent," said Miss Susan. "But answers do.” #questions #QuotsyJan18
“No other species anywhere in the world had invented boredom. Perhaps it was boredom, not intelligence, that had propelled them up the evolutionary ladder.” #Invention #QuotsyJan18
Listening to Terry Pratchett and watching the rain from one of the comfy chairs at Starbucks.
“The universe is, instant by instant, recreated anew. There is in truth no past, only a memory of the past. Blink your eyes, and the world you see next did not exist when you closed them. Therefore, the only appropriate state of the mind is surprise. The only appropriate state of the heart is #joy. The sky you see now, you have never seen before. The perfect moment is now. Be glad of it.” #QuotsyJan18
Returning to the Discworld for #twentysix #novemberbythenumbers
This is number #26 of 41 total Discworld novels (sadly I don‘t own the full series... yet).
Just saw this quote on Instagram and had to share. Especially since I did not want to eat this mini-Twix! Definitely not! I just unwrapped it because the cat loves the foil and wants to play with it.
The last of my pretties arrived today! The latest 4 of the Terry Pratchett signature series released in the last couple of months.
I‘m going to reread the whole series in 2018. I‘m so excited to start! Discworld makes me 😁 so happy!

#time is not something I have a lot of these days. I leave on Saturday for nine days in Ireland. The vacation is much needed but I forgot how busy work is this time of year so I am trying to do as much as I can before I leave. This was the first Pratchett I ever read. I have barely made a dent in the Discworld books but I will intend to change that. #noteworthynovember
#bold is a fine line from stupid. And I have been itching to post this Pratchett quote. 😊

Just finished this #reread inspired by my most recent @bookriot Thursday video.
And this is me every day with my two-year-old. And I'm sure the feeling is mutual. #parenting
