

Felt like it had harder edges this time 'round. It's certainly more entertaining on reread, knowing the ultimate tack the tale takes, seeing the winks to the reader throughout the story, but I think maybe my love for the Vimes books makes it harder for me to love the Witch ones.
With a great deal of veracity, Magrat, Ogg and Weatherwax are ultimately three women respected in their community for how they have helped out, now having to encounter 1/
Pratchett ensures they are resilient and flawed, and the whole book made me feel like I was waiting for things to not be worse.
The CIty Watch books encounter many a dark side of humanity (and other fantasy races) but I feel like the learnings happen along the journey, and you're watching Vimes' rocky road to improving himself and the Watch throughout the plot. 5d
P.S. I had completely forgotten the standing stone shenanigans, and the snippets of Hamlet references, which for someone who's never read Macbeth, still makes this story an enjoyable nod to Shakespeare
