3.5⭐
This was a delightful, body positive story about a plus sized influencer and the complexities of her life and her female friendships, very lighthearted, sometimes funny...when WHAM! right in the middle someone winds up dead and it turns into a murder mystery on Cape Cod.

Complete fluff, but in a good way. Part cozy mystery, chick-lit & romance… influencers, high-school mean girls, a celeb wedding, and a coastal vibe, perfect to throw in a beach bag. But what made it for me, were the moments when our plus-size heroine was at her most relatable. Faking confidence, patronizing asides, aiming for body-confidence yet still being hurt by the so-called well-meaning insults disguised as compliments. All too familiar 🤦♀️
Cant remember if this is one i already read. But love. Jennifer weiner
I was so close to bailing when a very unexpected twist occurred that made me want to see this book through to the end. It does read a bit YA which I hadn‘t found in previous books from Jennifer Weiner but she managed to pull off a fun and interesting 🐥 lit mystery🩷Good choice if you‘re looking for a beach read🏖️ A plus size influencer gets drawn back into a toxic friendship with her HS nemesis when she asks her to be in her wedding party.
1. My friend and I are kicking around the idea of a girls‘ trip in June or July.
2. I enjoy a fun “beach” read in the summer (with a floppy hat on the cover), but if it‘s really hot I also like to read a book that‘s set in the middle of a cold winter.

Bought this last year at my library's spring book sale. Which reminds me, this year's spring book sale starts this Friday...Yes!!

Great twist and great narrative. Loved the plot and this author
I mean, it's a Jennifer Weiner novel. It's not going to be a transcendent literary experience, but like a good home-cooked meal (heavy on the delicious delicious carbs) & a mid-priced bottle of red wine, it's going to satisfy!
This one is an odd duck - Weiner takes on Insta & Influencer culture, with some success; her take on a Gen Z narrator is not *quite* as successful but mostly works - Daphne is an appealing MC.
A soft summer pick.

Bestselling author 𝐉𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐫 𝗪𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐫 set out to write a frothy beach read, but was surprised at the direction 𝐁𝐢𝐠 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫 took. It's a thought-provoking look at female friendships, body image, & the contradictions between real & virtual life, as well as an engrossing mystery. But you should still throw it in your beach bag. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I am enjoying this audiobook, and for the most part the narrator is great… BUT she has this annoying way of pronouncing words with t‘s as d‘s. It is SO annoying! Cotton = codden, forgotten = forgodden, etc. Argggh! 😂
I gave it 34% before I returned it to the library.
I'm in a bad reading slump.
This is a good beach/summer read. Light, fun, quick, a little sexy. It‘s rom com with a mystery twist. The twist is a little jarring, but I was invested in the story enough that I was able to overlook the more contrived nature of the mystery. Includes some commentary on social media and how people fake it a bit (or sometimes a lot) online. I give it 3.5 stars that I rounded up to 4 in my app because it did give me some feels. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 ❤️📚
Favorite reading spot, good book, delicious coffee. ❤️📚 #frontporchsittin
This book was a combo of two of my favorites, romance and thriller / mystery. I loved the transition in the book from one genre to the next and how it covered the more difficult parts of loving yourself and realizing how good you really do have it. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good romance but also wants to be caught up in the suspense of a thriller / mystery.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
After a few heavy reads, I was happy to read something light-hearted, though this one did have a bit of mystery. #chicklit for the win!
Thank you Denise for this book! I love her books 💛 so sweet of you to think of me 💗 I hope you had a great first day of school 🏫

Last night of vacation. Sad to leave the beach. Even with sucky weather, we‘ve had a great week. Starting this one as we wait for dinner to grill - smells divine!
I really liked this story of a plus size fashion Instagram influencer and her former high school friend. What I had trouble with was the ending. While the rest of the book was perfectly believable, that ending just seemed so improbable.
I finished this book at the end of last week!
What a great read. I don‘t know why I let it sit on my shelf for a year before reading it. It was a cute story and it gave me some of those summer feels.

I have a coworker who lends me books soooooo this is the latest one!! I've heard mixed reviews but I figured it would be a quick read. Lots of fashion stuff so far, interesting in a "yes I'll observe over here while also not entirely understanding everything" lol #fiction #amreading
I loved the beginning, with the relationships between friends and lovers and families. I didn't like the second half. The twist was shocking and totally unexpected, but then as they started to figure out who did it, the book just seemed like a landslide. Conclusions were drawn that, honestly, didn't make sense with the information given. Jennifer Weiner knew how she wanted the book to end and had trouble conveying it in an organized way.

I am loving this book. Just the palette refresh I need. I read HungrybHeart by Jennifer Weiner and lived it, but I haven't read any of her fiction. I haven't be this excited about a book in a long time. Iooking forward to diving into the rest of Weiner's blacklist. Plus I love the cover artwork.

🎧 The Knockout Queen - done. Perfectly sad, and emotionally overwhelming.
📚 The Golden Compass - still 75% done. I haven't touched it at all this week 😓
🎧 Big Summer - 50% done. The curve right in the middle of the book was jarring. I thought this would be a nice book about friendship...

Book 49
I listened to Big Summer by Jennifer Weiner, a novel that lacks clarity of purpose; it begins as a coming-of-age/self-love story, but, surprisingly, becomes a murder/detective mystery with a romance thrown in near the resolution. Gratingly, the plot is reliant on social media. Not for me. ⭐⭐
I was really enjoying this book up until about 50% through. The concept was cute and the storyline was fun, but the mystery part of it wasn‘t so great. I would have liked it better if they went with the style of the first half of the book!
Big Summer ~ Jennifer Weiner. I decided to read this one after listening to a podcast featuring Jennifer Weiner. It‘s my first of her books and I have to say, I was not disappointed. The mystery side was fine but I found the Instagram content riveting, how to build a platform and all that goes into it. Just seems like such a lot of work! Great, fun read with some important messages around body image and self love
@TheAromaofBooks #doublespin I havent decided where im putting puppies for dummies.
#readharder a fat positive romance
This was not what i expected and im glad i stuck it out. I definitely feel it is worth a try.
I was pleasantly surprised at how good this book is! Not what I expected at all. I know you aren't supposed to judge a book by it's cover, but that's extremely difficult to do for real. The way this book looks, isn't how it is. To me, it looked and sounded (by the title) like a fluffy beach read. It's not all fluff and sunshine. I enjoyed it so much I had a hard time setting it aside! Apparently I need to read more by Jennifer Weiner.
⭐⭐⭐⭐
I bailed after about 75 pages on my #bookspin. I heard it picks up after the 50% mark, but I did not enjoy it enough to wait. @TheAromaofBooks Glad to cross it off and move on!
The tagged book is my #bookspin and Just Us is my #doublespin, which I have already started reading. Pixel is interested in it too. @TheAromaofBooks
What starts as a book about class status and online influencer culture abruptly turns into a murder mystery. A little romance is also thrown in to muddy things up further. 2⭐️
I loved this book. I have been disappointed in the last few books I have read by Weiner, but this more than made up for it, such a fun book.
Halfway through listening to this and it is getting really good!
I haven‘t read a Jennifer Weiner book in a while. This one was perfect to get back into her. It had a little bit of everything. I love that it was a mystery tied in with issues surrounding social media.
This book was fine. I don‘t know if my reading preferences have changed or if I‘m still in a pandemic funk. Tank/Ivan wasn‘t impressed either.

I have a book hangover from finishing Her Last Flight. But I‘m starting this any way.
This week has felt so summery during the days. I‘ve been able to work in my gardens every day. 🌸🌼
This book was not what I expected at all but I loved it! A great read with an even better mystery!!
While I‘ve been reading Jennifer Weiner since her first book, Good in Bed, came out I‘ve missed the last few. Big Summer reminded me why I enjoy her books so much! This was a quick mystery that has Weiner‘s great combination of humor and heart. While I admit getting somewhat aggravated with the main character‘s habit of focusing not only on her own physical issues but everyone else‘s, the overall story kept me entertained. 🌟🌟🌟🌟
While I was not expecting this to turn from chick lit (I know, I know... we‘re not using that phrase anymore but I don‘t know what else to use!) into a mystery half way through the book, this was entertaining and a great summer read.
