First book I‘ve read by Beatriz Williams, definitely won‘t be my last! This was the perfect book to get me out of my reading slump ❤️
First book I‘ve read by Beatriz Williams, definitely won‘t be my last! This was the perfect book to get me out of my reading slump ❤️
While I enjoyed the premise and idea of this book, it was unfortunately so drawn out. There was really no reason this book couldn‘t have been 250 pages instead of the 433 pages, which is the reason I‘m giving it a so-so instead of a thumbs up. The writing was very clever, and I particularly loved the use of footnotes throughout the story.
I agree with what seems to be the general consensus for this book: interesting concept, but poorly executed. Took me a little longer to read because I‘ve had too much going on lately, which may have contributed to the lackluster feeling. Maybe if I read it all at once (or at least within a week), it would have held my interest better
Got married this week! It was the most wonderful, magical day of my life and I wish I could relive it over and over 🥰 But definitely looking forward to our life as a married couple!
A very sweet story about a woman going back to her small hometown to check on her grandfather after an accident. While she‘s home, she has the chance to reunite with her childhood best friend (and first love). Definitely had hallmark movie feels!
Finished in 1 sitting while my fiancé watched the Super Bowl in the background. A nice, lighthearted rom-com was exactly the kind of story I craved right before Valentine‘s Day!
Sweet story about a man and a woman who share a flat, but he only stays there during days while she stays there on nights and weekends (due to work schedules). It was a cute, romantic story.. but it seems I‘m one of the outliers who thought it was a little dull at times and dragged on. Still enjoyed it though!
Reading the reviews, I started this thinking I would pan or bail. Reading the 1st half, I was pleasantly surprised! The characters were funny and I couldn‘t wait to keep going, but things took a turn in the 2nd half. The MC started getting annoying and the things she argued about were so childish and didn‘t make much sense. I had to push myself to get through the rest of the book, but gave it 3 stars because I genuinely liked it at the start.
Skipped watching TV tonight to finish this one! I really enjoyed it and now I‘ll have to watch the movie ☺️
I enjoyed this more than I expected! Interesting imagining on Agatha Christie‘s 11-day disappearance in 1926. You can tell the author did a lot of research on the topic, but there were still a lot of twists and turns to keep the story entertaining
Loved this idea! My favorite book of January was probably Love on Lexington Avenue by Lauren Layne (tagged). Can‘t wait to see how it pans out against the rest of my favorites this year!

Wasn‘t the best reading month but with all this wedding planning I‘m surprised I read 5 books 😂 February is officially my wedding month and I couldn‘t be more excited to put planning behind me and get back to reading!

Somewhere between a pick and a so-so for me. The story was excellent, a perfect mix between heart-breaking and romantic. Like others wrote, some of the writing was uncomfortable and unnecessary (in my opinion). Also, some parts of the book felt rushed while others dragged out. Still finished in less than a day though, couldn‘t wait to find out what happened!
I was pleasantly surprised with this book! It was funny, filled with romance, and I read it in less than a day. The perfect book to keep me busy during a blizzard ❄️
Cute and funny story about a successful matchmaker who‘s profession is on the line because she‘s still single. It was definitely predictable, but still fun to read! I only wish I read them in order (even though they‘re supposed to be standalone books in a series) because they reference a couple of scenes and characters from the first book.
Really cute story and an easy read! There were 2 main reasons this didn‘t get a full “thumbs up” from me: 1. The point of view changed often and it was a little confusing to follow the characters 2. It was VERY slow. This probably could have been told in 300 pages or less to be honest. Still a fun read though!
Sweet and entertaining love story about soap opera stars navigating a new show, tabloid drama, and romance. Loved the writing, characters, and Latinx representation. The storyline was a little cheesy and certain minor confrontations were dragged out a little too far. Other than that, it was a fun read!
So sorry for not being active in a while and for not responding to all my lovely #LitsyLove yet! I‘ve recently experienced an unexpected, sudden loss in the family due to a horrific accident. While I‘ve been grieving and trying to cope with what has happened, I have been doing much better this week and intend to make more of an effort to read, post, and write back all you littens 💕
Fun story about a woman who works as a professional bridesmaid, getting hired by brides to pretend to be their close friends while simultaneously helping to plan their perfect weddings. Filled with so many cute and funny scenes, it‘s just what I needed!

Happy Halloween! Started off strong, then sort of lost my drive towards the end of the month. Still got a Bingo though!! #BookishBingo
My favorite this month was definitely Early Morning Riser 🧡
This book was such a pleasant surprise! I LOVED it! It‘s very rare that a book makes me laugh out loud, but that‘s exactly what happened (though it was more of a dry-humor, which is right up my alley). I think this was exactly what I needed to get me out of my “so-so” slump.
“People say I‘m heartless - pretty ironic, when you think about it.”

I went into this thinking it was going to be a light rom-com (based on the book summary) but boy was I wrong! It was definitely more of an emotional story about friendship, rather than an unrequited love as the tag line suggests. Still a great story, looking forward to reading more by the author 💛
This series of novellas is perfect for October reading! It‘s a dark retelling of the Wizard of Oz stories, where everything we know from the classic isn‘t what it seems. In this story, Dorothy Gale returns to Oz.. but she‘s not the sweet and kind heroine anymore. Full of witches, magic, and familiar details, I can already tell I‘m going to love reading this series for the spookiest time of the year!
Looks like September was a great reading month for me. I was even able to get 2 bingos!

I feel like most of my reads lately have just missed the mark. Maybe I‘m being too picky or maybe it‘s time to switch genres for a little. This was a really cute + funny story. I loved the characters, though sometimes the written lines were a bit annoying. They probably would have read better as an audiobook or on television. It was also WAY too long and drawn out. I found myself just waiting for something interesting to happen a little too often
There were a couple of cute and funny parts, but honestly most of it was just so far-fetched and cringey. There was too much love-to-hate-to-love over and over again, even when it didn‘t make any sense to start hating each other again. The handful of fun parts saved this from being a complete bail or DNF for me
1. Wearing all my favorite sweaters and boots
2. Chai latte (though I drink it all year round 😌)
3. Really good week at work + got a list of my new pharmacy students that I‘ll be career coaching!
4. The beautiful weather we had today 🍁☀️

Spent a good part of this beautiful day finishing this book ☀️ maybe it‘s because I‘ve always loved the all the glamour and glitter of the New York high society in the 1950s, but this historical fiction about Truman Capote and Babe Paley‘s friendship was enjoyable to read. It does get a little campy at times, but overall i thought it was fun!
I really enjoyed the first quarter of this book, but it feels like the entire plot happens in that first 25% and the rest just drags on. I wish there was more character development, because I like Alexa (the MC). Overall it was a cute story, i think I just had higher expectations for it.
I‘m so glad I gave this book a chance! I wasn‘t sure what to expect with all the mixed reviews, but this ended up being one of my favorite rom-coms I read all year. It was cute, easy-to-read, and full of classic literary references. Loved it!

I started out really not liking this book. The dialogue felt equivalent to “bad acting” in written form. ~50 pages in I started to enjoy it & couldn‘t put it down. Towards the end it started getting really cheesy again. The story was predictable (I figured out the ending really early on), a little cringey, and unrealistic. But the middle portion of the story saved this book from being a “pan” for me! ☺️
Beautiful words of survival, love, violence, and healing. My plan was to only read 1 section of poetry per night, but I couldn‘t help myself and read the entire book in an hour 💛
Cute, hilarious, and easy read made for a perfect book to enjoy on beach days. Even found myself laughing out loud at a couple of parts!
Finally got to visit the Boston Public Library in person 💛📚
So glad I finally got to read this book! It‘s been on my TBR for so long, and it didn‘t disappoint. It wasn‘t a story packed with drama and plot twists, but still an interesting and enjoyable historical fiction.
Slightly upset that I wasted a couple hours of my Saturday reading this. I almost bailed a couple of times but was dying to see if the ending saved the book … it didn‘t 😔 oh well at least it‘s another TBR that can be crossed off the list!
Thank you so much @RedxoHearts for the books and the bookish gifts!!! I can‘t wait to take read these at the beach this week 💜🏖📖 #litsylovesummerswap
@RedxoHearts just sent your #litsylovesummerswap package in the mail this morning! Of course I forgot to take a picture of the actual box 🤦🏼♀️
Started out loving this story about a woman who moves in with her brother and falls for his best friend, but it started getting a little dull for me about 50% through. It was too much of an instant love-at-first-sight connection, which made the dragging out of the romance so unnecessary and irritating at times. I was getting tired of the “does he feel the same way/no he can‘t possibly because he‘s too out of my league” line over and over
Cute, fluffy romantic-comedy about a girl named Lucy Valentine, whose family owns a matchmaking business. When her parents go away for a few weeks, they leave the business in the hands of Lucy, who wasn‘t blessed with the same genetic matchmaking abilities as her dad. But, she does have her own psychic gift and teams up with a handsome PI to solve some crimes. Overall it was a quick, fun read!

1. Working remotely, unlimited PTO, more time to spend with my fiancé/puppies/friends + family! ?
2. I‘m still just starting in my career! But I guess to never set limitations for myself ??⚕️
3. Coffee ☕️
4. Read a book ?
Loved this! Read it as an audiobook (which I highly recommend) .. I‘ll definitely be subscribing to their podcast now
#Booked2021 pick for #Hear/Here (audiobook or set where you live)
Great book if you‘re looking for a fluffy, predictable romance with no true conflict. It was perfect for me because I‘ve been searching for books that I can read in under a day to try and catch up my my reading goal! Probably could have done with all the repetitive “no, he can‘t like me, plus he has that rule..” which felt like it was being said at least every other page. But all-in-all it was a really cute and lighthearted story.
This book was so cute and fun! The way the story was broken up between a regular dialogue, texts, podcast transcripts, interviews, etc was such a unique technique. It helped keep the story interesting and give it more of a real-life feel.
Like most of the other readers, I read this because I loved One of Us is Lying, but this book was really lackluster in comparison. The plot twists weren‘t very exciting and the whole idea around this story was a little silly. If you like YA mysteries/thrillers I would definitely recommend One of Us is Lying over this book.
