1. My goal this year is 75 books, and I‘m at 53 now, so I‘m on track. I mostly know what they‘ll be, but there could be some surprises!
2. I want to have my stuff in order to retire within the next couple years.

1. I just want to read more. I have a bad habit of not letting myself read because I don‘t think I deserve to. I‘m stopping myself from doing the one thing that makes me happy. I need to change this.
2. I want to continue to make healthy lifestyle choices, turn the spare room into a library, and start journaling again.

I‘ve started reading AC‘s books again since I have no memory of which ones I‘ve already read. Luckily, her books can easily be found at the library!

I've owned this stained and battered paperback since 1980. Miss Marple is the best antidote whenever I feel anxious, overwhelmed, depressed, or just plain lonely. And these short visits with my favorite cozy detective feel like ... a hug from my grandmother. One thing we always agreed on was our love of Agatha Christie.

Anyone else reread old favorites to find comfort &/or fight the inner demons?

I finished this a few days ago but it's so unmemorable, I forgot. This was October's #agathachristieclub read & it dragged on. It's all short stories; people gather around to tell their mysterious tales & Miss Marple, of course, figures it out while other younger, average minds can't. I, meanwhile, fell asleep in the middle of every one of these tales & can't tell you what it was about. It doesn't get a pan because I can't hate on Miss Marple 👵🏻

saresmoore Haha! I think we‘ve made it to a good place in life when we‘re reading so much, it‘s possible to forget something you just finished. P.S. I do this all the time, even with (what should be) memorable books. 🤦‍♀️ 10mo

1) Reclined on the living room couch with a warm blanket and a dog on my lap.
2) well tonight I had a apple & water, but I've also been loving coffee & chocolate chip cookies or an almond croissant lately.
3) Maybe Jane Austen? I rarely read warm & cozy & I definitely don't read it enough to have a favorite author 😏
4) do it! Tuesday is almost over, the midnight hour is near (why am I awake again?)

1. Book, i‘ve never really enjoyed short stories
2. I love both Harry Potter & LOTR-if I have to choose, LOTR b/c it was my first love? But that‘s just a matter of timing.
3. I do audiobooks the most b/c I don‘t have much time to sit down to read. I e-books b/c I can look up definitions immediately. I love the feel of physical books.

I found this book to be so-so. Each chapter features a crime told by one member of the group, then the others try to guess the solution, Miss Marple featuring. My issue is that I wanted more to reach story. They were complete, but I just prefer longer and more detail. I like seeing the actions of the character and trying to solve as the story goes along. I didn't have a chance to really do that with this book. #backpackeurope @JenP @BookwormM

mabell I enjoyed this one, but I feel the same way. I prefer Christie's novel format, with more development and background on the characters, and more "detecting." ? 1y
tdrosebud @mabell Exactly! That was literally my only issue and why I rated it as I did. It was a high so-so though, I could see potential for some of the stories to possibly be in the novel format. 1y

I really struggled with the #talentshowcompetition prompt in the #juneitselectrifying challenge. I settled on the tagged book which is part of this bigger library volume I just picked up. Miss Marple is competing with the other members of the club to tell and solve mysteries, she is very talented at it. Does that count?

I still like the character of Miss Marple, but short stories are not my thing. I‘m coming to learn that Agatha Christie isn‘t really my thing, either. I actually liked the interactions between the friends, but my mysteries themselves weren‘t very interesting. Unfortunately, my mind wandered throughout most of them.

#NovemberByTheNumbers #day13 This was the first book that came to mind for today‘s prompt. One of my favourite Miss Marple books, the image of this little old lady sitting in the corner knitting in a room full of people trying to Big note themselves, then quietly shooting down their hypotheses before solving the case completely. As I‘m getting older, I realize more and more how older women are so discounted, which was Miss Marple‘s genius.

#AndItsAugust #day9 #QuickReads I'm a fairly quick reader, especially if I'm really into a book. If that's the case, I can finish an 800pg chunkster in 48hrs maybe less. But if I want a quick read, a palate cleanser between books or if I'm in a bit of a slump, then any of Dame Agathas books will give me a quick read to shake out the cobwebs. Unless it's a Tommy & Tuppence book. They annoy me SO much! #christiescrimeclub

The mysteries are short, but good. It was fun to have Miss Marple triumph over her experienced, worldly companions. I find standard length Christie mysteries to be my preference. However, this format fits if you just want quick bites.

Another Agatha Christie novel read in a weekend! This book, rather than have one story and mystery to solve, was made up of many short stories...not what I'm used to (& I guest none of them correctly!) but I enjoyed nevertheless!

I'm enjoying reading the Miss Marple series for the first time. This is the 2nd book and is a collection of short stories. Miss Marple's method of solving cases gets a little repetitive in these stories but there are a few surprises.
