Surprise! Surprise! | Agatha Christie

Though the world feels like a dark, angry place these days, there are brilliant spots of light. And one of those is the unexpected arrival of an early birthday gift from halfway around the world! Thank you, Helen! I really look forward to opening this on the day. And you made my day today. 😊

BarbaraBB So sweet! 3d
squirrelbrain You‘re welcome Holly! I‘m surprised it got there so quickly…. 3d

Bk10 of June & #BigJuneReadathon & Bk2 of #20in4 #readathon is done. The 2nd full Miss Marple story, it starts in St Mary Mead with the discovery of a dead girl in the library at Gossington Hall then to a seaside hotel where the girl worked. Miss Marple & Mrs Bantry go to do some sleuthing & show up the police. Of course! #BookspinBingo #ChristiesCrimeClub

Bk9 of June & #BigJuneReadathon & Bk1 of #20in4 #readathon is done! Richard.E.Grant does a wonderful job of bringing this classic cozy to life, I‘m glad I came across it on Scribd. I do love my Poirot but Miss Marple runs a close 2nd with her quiet wisdom & unexpected belief in the worst of human nature. I‘d love a Grandma like her! Highly recommend. #BookspinBingo #AudiobookChallenge2022 #ChristieCrimeClub

TheAromaofBooks When Miss Marple is in full Marple-ism mode, she's my favorite 😂 5d
Andrew65 A brilliant start. 👏👏👏 5d

Already kicked off my #20in4 #readathon I‘m about halfway through the audiobook of the 1st full Marple novel on Scribd, read by Richard.E.Grant. Set in her village of St Mary Mead, it‘s a wonderful #whodidntdoit Colonel Protheroe is on of the most despised people in the village, so when he‘s shot it‘s a case of who didn‘t have a motive? Happy reading!

Andrew65 Got to love a good Agatha Christie. (edited) 5d

Bk8 of June & #BigJuneReadathon is done! I originally read this as a teenager as The Thirteen Problems, I think the above is the US title. One of the Special Edition hardbacks they‘re bringing out each year, I‘m slowly collecting them all. The 1st Marple outing, it‘s a short story anthology collected as a different problem presented by each person at a dinner party. Of course our fluffy old lady solves every one! #BookspinBingo #CloakDaggerChal

TheAromaofBooks You have me hooked on these special editions - I absolutely love them!! Roger Ackroyd is coming out later this year and I'm so excited. 6d
Aims42 Gorgeous cover!! 😍😍😍 6d
Lizpixie @TheAromaofBooks oooh is it?!? That‘s one of my favourite Poirot! 6d
TheAromaofBooks I may have preordered it from Book Depository already 😂 It's supposed to be released in November, I think, along with The Mysterious Affair at Styles. I'm excited to see some of the full-length novels in this format, as sometimes the short stories overlap. I've been using this website to keep track of what's coming - they seem to keep it updated! ⬇ 5d

Giving Dame Agatha a reread on this chilly Thursday here in Sydney. I first read this years ago as The Thirteen Problems, the above title was the US version. The 1st outing of Miss Marple, it‘s like a short story collection gathered as a regular club meeting where each member presents a mystery only they have the answer to. Of course the “fluffy old lady” solves it every time! One of my favourite Marples. #BigJuneReadathon

Freespirit I haven‘t read this one!! 7d
Clwojick This one looks great! I‘ve read a few Mrs Marples, but not this one. 7d

This one was a bit more confusing. I think because there were so many people to keep track of. But it‘s Christie, so you know it‘s good.

Christie is my go-to comfort mystery writer. I can‘t help but love being stumped by her.

LiteraryinLawrence I agree. She‘s my favorite! 2w
