Low pick. I don‘t usually like short stories or short story collections but I actually quite enjoyed my time with these. Poirot is back along with his little grey cells to solve seemingly impossible puzzles. Could still do without Hastings, but he was tolerable in smaller bites. No real standout favorites from this collection but I had a good cozy time reading it. #ChristiesCapers @Librarybelle

Another lackluster library edition. Overall, I liked this one. Poirot and his little gray cells were hard at work. Usually I am not a fan of short stories but in this case I liked the short stories better than some of Christie‘s books. Her mysteries can get really convoluted but in this format there wasn‘t too much time to get too crazy. My favorite mystery was the first story, The Adventures of the Western Star.
Here‘s my review for this book I just finished for the #christiescapers buddy read. I‘m looking forward to reading the next story. I have the audiobook for the next story in my Audible library but I‘m disappointed that Richard Armitage won‘t be narrating the next one. I like listening to him read the stories. He hasn‘t read all of the stories but he‘s read most of them so far.

POIROT INVESTIGATES (1924) is a collection of short stories featuring Agatha Christie‘s iconic detective, Hercule Poirot, and his loyal companion, Captain Hastings. As one of Christie‘s earlier works, it offers a glimpse into the development of her famous sleuth and showcases her talent for crafting clever, compact mysteries, making it perfect for readers who enjoy quick, satisfying detective stories. ⬇️
It‘s time to discuss Poirot Investigates for #ChristiesCapers ! I have 5 questions posted as spoilers. They can be found by searching the book‘s feed, my feed, or the group‘s hashtags.
Our next read is The Secret of Chimneys, the first book to feature Inspector Battle. Official post tomorrow! #AgathaChristieClubR3
5. Consider this a free-for-all post! What are some elements you read that you wish to discuss with the group? #ChristiesCapers #AgathaChristieClubR3
4. Themes. The only overarching theme is Poirot himself. But, what are some thematic elements you found within these shorts?
For instance, spiritualism is mentioned and will play a role in later novels in a variety of forms, from the supernatural and witchcraft to seances and hauntings.
I think there was a mention too regarding Poirot's penchant for only helping the rich??? #ChristiesCapers #AgathaChristieClubR3
3. Good old Hastings! We experience the Poirot stories through Hastings's voice, and I could not but help think yet again about Watson and Holmes. Hasting shows parts admiration, frustration, anger, and kind of jealousy over Poirot and his methods.
We've talked about Hastings in the past...has your opinion of Hastings changed? What are your impressions of Hastings's character as seen in these shorts? #ChristiesCapers #AgathaChristieClubR3
2. Think about the short stories in this collection. Any standouts? Favorites? Disappointments? We'll talk about Hastings next! #ChristiesCapers #AgathaChristieClubR3
1. Welcome to our first short story collection by Christie! This first collection includes stories featuring Poirot, making this the 3rd Poirot book we've read.
Which do you prefer...the short stories or the novels (thinking specifically about the two other Poirot novels we have read so far)? #ChristiesCapers #AgathaChristieClubR3
I‘m reading this short story collection for the #christiescapers buddy read. I‘m liking the short stories. I‘m not going to get finished in time for Sunday‘s discussion of this book but I will finish this book before the end of the month.
Read by Richard Armitage which is always fun. He does a great job always.
I do get tired of the fact that Poirot only ever has any dealings with the very rich. sigh.

I‘ve really fallen behind on my hosting duties, but tomorrow (Sunday) is our next #ChristiesCapers discussion! The first short story collection we‘ll read by Christie, and the third book featuring Hercule Poirot!
Questions will be posted mid- to late-morning US East Coast time! #AgathaChristieClubR3

Reading about Poirot‘s exploits while my son is in PT. 😊🔎
Tonight I plan to be in bed by 8:00 & read the tagged book. Hydrating myself with water! #HyggeHourReadathon
Repost for @Librarybelle
We‘re staying in 1924 with May‘s #ChristiesCapers . This first short story collection by Christie of course features Poirot. Discussion on May 25th!
I will post the story titles in the comments. This one should be the same in all countries, but just in case, our discussion will focus on the listed short stories. #AgathaChristieClubR3

I am proud that I did not bail, but Poirot and Christie are not at their best in short stories. Too much dialogue, too minor of cases, and too quick of resolutions made each story in here a bigger bore than the first. I‘ll read Book 4, but only after a break to cleanse my pallet.
A nice collection of four Poirot short stories including the one murder he could not solved, but that solved itself. It was an easy read and I went through it in one go. 💪
It is the first time that am I reading an English text that is accompanied with the German translation. I did not buy it myself, but got it out of a little free library. So, I kept wondering why the lines end in weird places and rather abruptly till I realized it is supposed to match the German translation. I never noticed before that we need a lot more words to express the same thing in German. 🧐
So, what dog would Poirot be? 🧐 A collie, a corgi or a dachshund? 🐶🐶🐶
Book haul: I passed by one the bigger little free libraries in my neighbourhood and found this huge stack of Agatha Christie novels. Somebody must have gotten rid of their collection. Of course I had to take them - and put a few of mine in. 😊
A collection of 11 short stories featuring Poirot & (unfortunately) Hastings, who still hasn't come to terms with being the comedic relief. Mixed bag here but none of them are really bad & a couple are rather ingenious in their solutions. Please see my full review link for further details on the stories. 3.5🌟

Read 5th-9th Feb 2024
This is a collection of short stories of different cases investigated by Poirot and Hastings, narrated by Hastings. I had read 2 of them before and enjoyed all of them well enough, though short stories aren‘t really my favorite thing.
Up next: Number 3 in the Hercule Poirot series by Agatha Christie.
It‘s a collection of 11 short stories and I plan on reading 1 per day.

A book of short stories of Poirot Investigating different situations. It didn't really keep my interest but I thought the next story would be better. I kept reading it and finally finished it.

Confession- I had never read any Agatha Christie until last week 😳🙈. I know, I know. Anyway, I picked up two Christie books at the library, one Poirot and one Marple. However, I didn't realize that Poirot Investigates was a short story collection, and I am not a big fan of short stories, so not the best choice for my first foray into Christie's work. The mysteries were clever and while I didnt love it, I enjoyed it. Next up, a Miss Marple novel.
I love everything about this cover…😍
#20in4 #readathon though I‘d say I like Miss Marple better than Poirot , I‘m filling in gaps from when I read Christie long ago.Short , multiple cases fill this collection, fun little who done its with Poirot always complementing himself on his “gray matter.” 🤔
2nd book done this weekend.Yay!
This collection of short stories were perfect for my short discrete reading. Few stories were full of suspense & twist where as few were just OK. I like the story on Kidnapped PM. This is My first reading about Poirot, definitely looking forward to read more.
Book #11 of #bookspinbingo #AgathaChristie #serialreader #Poirot
Ya know, these little tales weren‘t earth-shattering, but they were fun to read. I love Poirot and Hastings isn‘t nearly as intolerable in short story form. 😂 I especially loved The Adventure of the Italian Nobleman.
Nice collection of short stories, it was fun to read 😃
I‘m making my way through Poirot in order this year. One a month. Book 3 is a collection of short stories. The stories are well-written but they eventually all start to blend together. My favorite was the one set in Egypt, the name of which escapes me at the moment. So I‘m giving it a pick because it‘s still worth reading, just not my fave. 3.5⭐️

Eh. I‘m not a huge short story fan - I just like a bit more meat on my stories, particularly when it comes to mysteries.
I enjoyed this collection of Poirot stories - some are more developed than others, but each offered me a chance to read a story then move on to non-reading obligations. This was a reread for me, and yet I didn‘t remember many of the stories. Christie fooled me again...haha! #AgathaChristieClubR2

Alex mentions Helados a bunch of times in Red, White & Royal Blue. Since there are now two of us down for the count in my house (Maya‘s home sick 😷 now too), I figured I would succumb to the craving! We‘re enjoying our popsicles while watching some of the Poirot episodes drawn from the tagged book.

Just finished this collection of early Hercule Poirot short stories. Loved it!!
Lunchtime reading. Life is good.
Last day in Banff - and I‘m spending it hopping from coffee shop to restaurant to coffee shop with a couple of books.
I‘m definitely in full hibernation mode this week! 🤣
I have been binge watching the Poirot episodes that correspond to the tagged book, and starting to feel like I‘m ready to dive back into my Agatha Christie project (reading them in chronological order), after a long break!
