Hanging out with librarians. Love Conference time.
Library book sale , it was a quick run through I had to get home, going back tomorrow ๐
My husband is a carpenter working in some very upscale homes and took me to look at his latest job. This house is incredible! While he was closing up, I explored the library. This is a relatively powerful and respected financial leader in New England (the opposite of me๐) but our book tastes? Identical! I kept saying โI read that! I read that!โ I‘ve found my new best book loving friend whom I‘ll never meet! ๐๐๐ Kind of like Litsy TBH! ๐๐๐
Me, me! ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ #litsyloveslibraries
1๏ธโฃ What kind of library? The answer is different if it's a local library or a rare books library. As a patron of research libraries, I'd say I'd save whatever book I'm pouring over at that time.
2๏ธโฃ Any Stephanie Meyer or Dan Brown book. Gleefully.
3๏ธโฃ S'mores have chocolate.
This is just terrible! How is this ok?!
Don‘t let a day go by without learning something. Every time you drive by a library and don‘t stop, it‘s like you‘re walking by a treasure chest you never open , to see what‘s inside.
Some Friday evening funnies... ๐
Moved to a new town about three weeks ago. Finally had the chance today to get my card from the public library. #Home
A friend saw this on Facebook and tagged me of course. Larger version here: https://scontent-lga3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/fr/cp0/e15/q65/35519201_1016059999...
Our wonderful library tonight showed the movie Coco and had a fun photo booth for the kids! Ava & Macy had a blast! The theme for this summers reading program is Library‘s Rock! And we sure think ours does!

Need some bathroom reading? Push on that bookcase LOL
Love a doorway to another reading room
Here's a picture of one of the libraries that I used to work in. I worked downstairs in the children's section. I enjoyed my time there.โค๐
Visited this library and museum today in the tiny town of Heppner, Oregon. Spent two hours in their amazing museum. Found items relating to at least one ancestor! He died in the Great Flood of 1903.
Ok you guys, this is embarrassing. I've lived in my current apartment for two years and have just discovered that there's a library a 15 min walk away ?. It's small and there isn't a huge fiction selection, but I'll take it! Operation "spend less" is looking up!
It‘s my last day as a resident at the Gladstone Library - it‘s been the most wonderfully bookish weekend ever!
After 3 days of the silent reading rooms - the world outside is going to feel awfully noisy!
Image:- Do Not Disturb - I‘m Reading ( in Welsh!).
In early 1971 a childrenโs librarian in Troy, Michigan reached out to several notable people and asked them to write a letter to the children of the town to encourage them to visit the new library. She received responses from Neil Armstrong, Dr. Seuss, E.B. White and others! I love their letters and I think we would all agree with what they have to say! http://www.lettersofnote.com/2011/05/library-is-many-things.html #litsyloveslibraries
1. I was 5, our Girl Scout leader took us to the library and we got our own cards that day. Back then they were just cardboard. The kids card was green. Adult cards were yellow. 2 I probably use the online more 3 Yes 4 I wish we could go back to card catalogs ! 5. I‘d guess 8.
1 How Old were you when you got your first library card ?
2 Do you use your online library more than your in person library ?
3 Do you use you library at least weekly?
4 How many remember the card catalog days when they used cards with date due in little pockets in the book ?
5 On average, how many books do you check out per visit ?
Special Thanks to all our Litsy librarians.
1. Heck yeah!
2. Ummm... you won‘t believe this but my town is small and has no library. There is a library in a nearby town but they won‘t let me borrow books. ๐ณ๐ข
3. See #2
4. No. Of course not. Horrors!
5. Oh definitely!
Saw this on Reddit. Apparently, a library near Syracuse, NY , has posted this in the Teen Section of the library. They feel that if a teen may be dealing with a difficult issue, they‘d probably never ask a librarian where to find info on it. So they made it a bit easier for them. Some parents disapprove, thinking the child should come to them to ask for advice, not look up answers in library books. Whatcha think about this ?
Today I became a member of my city library. Not only has this given me access to a gazillion more books, but it gives me the perfect excuse to regularly visit my beloved city centre. I call that a win-win! ๐
My state, Connecticut, hasn't been able to pass a budget. The Governor's proposed budget is looking to cut funding to local libraries. These cards are from kids from ages 8 - 13 advocating against these cuts. I love the graphics and their letters to their senator is so inspiring. It makes me so sad but at the same time proud to see our young kids fighting for what they believe & advocating for libraries.
Can I just talk about how much I love my library? Not only do we have a bookmobile but now there's a machine at the gym where I can pick up my holds!! My husband asked if I would be going to the gym more often now. Cuz other than free food, this could be the motivation I was looking for! I haven't had a chance to use it yet so I'm putting stuff on hold today. I'm so excited!! ๐
#TBRtemptation post 1! This is an amazingly gorgeous coffee table book that combines libraries with one of the best photographers in the world. CH traveled all over the US & Europe to capture these magnificent images--the Escorial, the Whitney Museum's, the Villa Medici, the Pierpont, the Bibliotheque nationale de France, etc. And all of her pictures have zero people, for that glow of serenity and calm. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook ๐
