I just love reading about this literary set, and McLain‘s take on them is approachable but well written. This has been on my shelf for years, was recommended by tons of people, and was even a #Roll100 pick I didn‘t get to a few months back, so I‘m glad it was this month‘s #bookspin so I finally found that push to read it! I switched back and forth between print and audio and found the print way more compelling and absorbing. @TheAromaofBooks
Though I often looked for one, I finally had to admit that there could be no cure for Paris. #FirstLineFridays @ShyBookOwl
Next month I‘m going to try and read The Paris Wife. I‘ve been excited about it for ages, but I also haven‘t been getting much reading done lately, so 🤞🏼
#roll100 @PuddleJumper
This book was put in my hands with a vague, “I enjoyed this,“ by a family member. Free is a good price point, so I took it. I only read a chapter of this one before realizing…oh. This is a book about Hemmingway, Paris, and adultery. I've got no attachment to the first two, and greatly dislike the third so…I decided to read something else.
The chapter I read had a lovely narrative voice, though, I'd certainly read other things by the author.
Told from the perspective of Ernest Hemingway‘s first wife, Hadley Richardson, we get a glimpse into their early years & the world of a struggling writer in 1920‘s Europe. I enjoyed the setting & McLain really brings her characters to life including the Fitzgerald‘s as well as Gertrude Stein & Ezra Pound. A quick read - audio narration was FABULOUS. #52Books23 #Roaring20s🎶 Gratuitous hamantaschen - Purim Sameach 🥳
Loving this one #SetDuringTheRoaring1920s #52Books23 The life and marriage of Hadley & Ernest Hemingway 😍
It was a beautiful evening to read by a fire for a bit. I finished this book, and I felt the same as I had through most of the story. I really enjoy the way Paula McLain writes historical fiction, but I was just continually waiting for things to go badly. I felt wonderfully connected to Hadley‘s story and loved the descriptions of the places they traveled. Additionally, The Sun Also Rises is my favorite Hemingway so far, so I enjoyed that aspect.
This book has been on my TBR for too long, but I‘m finally started! I want to read it, but I‘ve also had a hard time picking it up because I know parts of it are going to be tough.

#Jumpstart2023 was a success! I completed my goals and then some. Having set goals and knowing exactly what I was going to read really helped to keep me focused. Awesome start to my reading year. The Paris Wife was my favorite but lots of good ones this month. Thanks for hosting at @Clwojick @Lizpixie looking forward to getting my tbr ready for February #Loveathon
Another book completed for #JumpStart2023 and #sharreadathon
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️It‘s been ages since I‘ve read Hemingway and when I did I was not a fan but for some reason I‘m totally fascinated with his life and time spent in Paris. This fictionalized account of his first marriage to Hadley Richardson, told from her perspective, fulfilled my curiosity in many ways. Loved the insight to bohemian Paris in the 20‘s. Now I‘m eager to try reading
Combining #JumpStart2023 goals with #sharreadathon in memory of @sharread I‘m really lovingThe Paris Wife and hope to finish this weekend for book club on Monday.
The sadness of a sweeping grand love story doomed because that‘s how it was is captured perfectly here by McLain using the clipped direct writing style that you can imagine Hemingway using. I liked it a lot.
Both books describe Hemingway‘s early years in Paris. The Paris Wife is from Hadley‘s view & A Moveable Feast from Ernest‘s view.
Reading TWICE how Hadley LOST ALL of his manuscripts was TWICE as heartbreaking. They must have been thrown away, since there was no money 💰 in the valise. Could you imagine if the manuscripts were found, what they would be worth now?

thank you to my bestie for this beautiful, thoughtful gift!! I love everything! I love that it‘s personalized! ❤️📚🎁💚
Love you!!
I just could not get into this one. Every time I tried to read it I got distracted…just didn‘t hook me. It‘s about Ernest Hemingway‘s first wife, Hadley.
Wrapping up June by finishing my #bookspin The Paris Wife. (I really enjoyed it!) We toured the Hemingway House in Key West last summer, so I knew there wasn‘t a happy ending for Hadley and Ernest, but I rooted for her anyway. Now I want to read ALL the Hemingway! I added A Moveable Feast to my July #bookspinbingo and hope to read The Sun Also Rises in August!
11 books read.
2 bingos.
Great reading month!
Thanks for hosting, @TheAromaofBooks
Cracking open my #bookspin
Helter Skelter is on hold until July (I fell off the bus, @CoverToCoverGirl and @Kelly326 )
I should finish Emma by tomorrow!

@TheAromaofBooks
I had to re-read this after reading A Movable Feast. I think I‘m now officially obsessed with 1920‘s Paris.
If you‘re going to write in a library book at least have good enough handwriting so I can read it 😡
Oh gosh, this book just broke my heart. A really wonderful read.
This is the love story of Ernest Hemingway and Hadley Richardson. While fiction, it is based on true accounts of their time together. The look into Hemingway‘s early career is fascinating. Knowing how the story ends, doesn‘t make it any easier to read. I want to read more of Hemingway‘s work. The Sun Also Rises was one of my favorite novels assigned in high school. Now I want to read A Moveable Feast. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
#bookspin November completed!
Grabbing a few minutes of reading time while dinner cooks. Plan is to finish this book today. Hazel is on board. ❤️🐶📚 Hamilton (not pictured) is on the back of my chair, keeping watch out the window so I can read. Such a good dog! #dogsoflitsy
Worked for a bit this morning to clear out some post closing tasks from our settlement late yesterday. Did a few chores, delegated the rest to the kids 😁. Now the rest of the day is mine, under the watchful eye of my constant companion #1 (#2 is curled up on my feet). Hoping to make quite a dent in this one today. Enjoying my time with the Hemingways at the moment. ❤️📚 #amreading #dogsoflitsy

This is my November #bookspin book. I better get started! 📚❤️
Currently reading...along with a lot of Googling of Earnest Hemingway and his first wife.
I have been trying to think of the fair review I was going to give McLains novel but I can‘t decide! It was VERY slow and you could feel Hadley becoming more and more exhausted at Hemingway‘s BS and by the end when he killed himself I found myself saying thank you, he just wasn‘t good. And low key the entire time after Hadley lost all of his work I wondered if it was intentional 🤷🏼♀️

I read this in 2012 and enjoyed it very much.
I didn‘t love it but was still interested in the fictional-yet-well-researched historical fiction from the point of view of Ernest Hemingway‘s first wife Hadley. #booked2020 #wineorwhine given the amount of times alcohol was consumed in this book!
@BethM thank you so much for your thoughtfulness in returning my LMPBC book! I‘m so happy to give my son Ex Heroes! And have two more historical fiction books for my TBR. Are you participating in the Lilli De Jong read along? Hoping we can sign up to do LMPBC together again! Maybe with @Avanders and @cobwebmoth if they are available.
Interesting book about the beginning of Hemingway‘s career told from the POV of his first wife, Hadley.

I read to page 125 before giving up. It felt as if there was something separating me from the book. Hadley seemed to a very boring person without an interest in anything around her. She's living in Paris and she stays in her apartment without getting out and exploring.
This is a very well written book about the first wife of Hemingway, and the time they have spent together in Paris. It's a fast, enjoyable read with frustrating "characters". It's a great book for a book club ;)
1. Tagged plus HP and the Chamber Of Secrets
2. All three! Depending on my mood lol
3. Ivanhoe, I just couldn‘t get into it so I switched it out for a different book for a term paper.

Ugh. What desperate people. What a detestable man. Just all of them! 🛳🍷🍾🥃🥃🥃🥃⛷🐃👩👦📚🙄
Ending here for the night. I finished 3 books and have a good start in 2 others. This was a lot of fun! #24in48 #24B4Monday #readathon
@IndoorDame I received your postcard today! You can be expecting a reply in the next few days! And by that I mean it's written I just have to drag myself through the snow to the post office!

The fictional story based on fact of Ernest Hemingway and his first wife Hadley Richardson. Written in her voice. I actually didn‘t finish it. I think because after the first two chapters I was curious about his life so read about it on Wikipedia. Then I had the plot and found the book a bit tedious. If you know very little about him this would be a good read. The writing does flow but I couldn‘t finish many other books waiting. 😊.

“People belong to each other only as long as they both believe. He‘s stopped believing.”
It was flat at first, and I only kept reading because I was interested in the Hemingways‘ friendships with the literary giants of jazz-age Paris. Towards the end, the book redeemed itself with #HadleyRicardson‘s raw and painful account of the end of their embattled marriage. I‘m now adding #ErnestHemingway‘s novels to my TBR list.
