“But how else was she supposed to exist after something like this? She was already in hell. She was already burning alive.” 31
“But the only thing hanging in the night sky was Patricia” 22
Saturday morning reading while everyone else sleeps in 😴
Fun fact: this is Bear and he only sleeps on the couch if his paw is touching a human🤣
“Long before there is a book in the world, there are two people sitting alone together” -87
“I have seen the power of the written word again and again. Dare to confess and the reader will dare to forgive you” -73
Finished the whole series last night and it felt so bittersweet as I finished. Didn‘t want it to end! Team Nesta forever and hello Nyx👏🏼
Very very good book. Needs to be known it‘s for high high young adult readers. While there aren‘t any trigger warnings that need to be prefaced it‘s definitely on the cusp. Very heavy, very sad and then you celebrate the last 30 pages. Love the glimpse inside the palace also!
2nd book of 2024! So far have read some really great fiction with solid plot lines. Adored all characters in this and love that their were different point of views intertwined! Six-thirty has my heart and made me squeeze my pups extra tight💓
Oh Christmas break, what a spoiled view I have🥰
“ It‘s too late for me to help either of them, but I‘m not gonna let the truth say buried any longer. It‘s done enough damage already.” 333
“Now come on. We‘ve a murder to attend” 129 #gymlisten
Fall Break:
The most blissful times for teachers, my personal favorite break because I can shut down, recharge and catch up on life.
I am dog sitting so extra $$ for me
I have colored pages upon pages in my new coloring book all while listening to Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (maybe I‘ll finally finish that series this year)
I‘ve crafted
I‘ve slept
and 2 days ago I dove into this quaint French love story💓
#happy fall yall
“Guilt walks on all fours. It creeps, encircles, and climbs. It presses its thumbs to your throat. And it waits” -14
“A lesser male needs to shout to be noticed” -321
“Be careful. Please. The border… The fucking border”. I feel wildness spreading through me. “It‘s nothing but a giant wound, a big gash between the two countries. Why does it have to be like that? I don‘t understand. It‘s just some random, stupid line. How can anyone else tell people where they can and can‘t go?” -280
WOW. Down to the last chapter you really had no idea what was going to happen. Anyone else really believe Eva got off the flight? Her character was painted so elusively I thought she for sure slipped off with ease. Also Danielle was another surprise character, although after that many years watching another woman get abused I can‘t imagine what that does to a spirit. GREAT READ!
“She‘d shed this life like an old skin, emerging newer. Better. She‘d done it before, and she would do it again” -74
One of the best feel good books. Flora is a beautiful soul and I love the characters that rallied around her. Dicamillo connects nature straight to the feel goods!
“I was a weapon. I‘d learned to shoot after all. And I‘d vowed to be Slavka‘s father as well as his mother. In times of war, fathers go fight for their children” 58
Already obsessed and ready to dive in🫢
My man got me this book journal for Christmas and I‘m ✨ obsessed✨
“Why did women have to confine themselves in order to stay safe?” 34
WOW. What a twist at the end. This was an easy, captivating read. I truly didn‘t flip my image about rose until 85% in, the MOM OVERDOSING really took me. I knew it didn‘t make sense!! Fern was a PERFECT character and the way she was written was beautiful, same with Rocco/Wally
“The only question that remains is: which truth was she manipulating?” Final
A beautiful reminder for a not beautiful topic 💔
He watches football, I make cookies and read💆🏼♀️
Really intrigued with this one🙊
Very quick read. Very heavy read. Very important that you memorize this family tree before beginning! A lot of characters with very deep scars loved seeing them back on the same side of the creek. Also omg Vonetta had me sobbing and I was worried sick 🤕
This book was such a unique piece of history I am glad I was able to experience. The store she wove using this crazy story is beautiful, tragic and heartwarming. Reminds me of a Disney movie, truly. Will say it took a bit to pick up and start really going but definitely glad I read!
“Did Joey Pigza lose control? Was Ella Enchanted” -p125
LOVE that other fictional characters were referenced!!
“I could spend what I feel in my bones is my life‘s last clear hours to tell you of the dust bowl. Or the war. Or the French peonies. Or my wives, so many wives. Or the graves so many graves. Or the goodbyes. So many goodbyes”

“The difference between the Muslim fathers request and the request make by Turk Bauer was like the difference between day and night.
Between love and hate.” -45
Read it. That‘s all I can recommend. The characters are built in a way where you can feel the different emotions that are written. Yes this was a 10/10
Reading in bed for this teachers Christmas break 💆🏼♀️ I am already hooked and only 6 chapters in

I have SO much I could say so I‘ve opted for ✨simple✨ Isabelle was a fighter and had the most beautiful personality that helped her survive such cruel circumstances. Vianne was a women pinned in a corner and still defied orders and still saved those babies. And Julian? Simply a father who realized his responsibilities too late. Yet they remained and were stronger because of it. What an absolutely devastating and beautiful book all at once.
