I don‘t currently have a lot of print reading time, but I‘m trying to make some time for this #LitsyBookClub choice. I fit in a few pages with lunch and also decided I may need to attempt making notes of a family tree as I read.

I‘m rereading this fun book and making some notes with plans to read it with a new group of 6th graders this fall.

I‘m diving into the middle of the long Circe episode of Ulysses with the podcast from Friends of Shakespeare and Company alongside a simple supper tonight. This episode is written in the style of a play script, and the audio by multiple readers is a great way to listen along. Also, even with my pre-reading prep and explanatory podcasts, this episode is crazier than I expected.

JazzFeathers I'm really enjoying reading your updates on Ulysses 😜 4mo
Daisey @JazzFeathers Thanks! I don‘t know that I‘m going to end up thinking it‘s amazing like so many, but for the most part I‘m enjoying the journey and appreciating the work and thought that went into writing it. 4mo

I haven‘t picked up Ulysses in a full week. I did listen to the Friends of Shakespeare & Company Bloomcast episode about Aeolus & Lestrygonians while driving to and from school one day. This evening I started listening to Aeolus with supper, and I may try to finish it later this evening. I found the style of this chapter an interesting change, and I especially enjoyed some of the word play.

I started this novella last night with supper and finished it this morning. It‘s a story of justice turned to revenge that gets completely out of control. Martin Luther even makes an appearance to condemn and then assist the main character. I found it a bit ridiculous but with an interesting ending.

I‘m continuing to make my way through this book a few pages at a time and have made it to 60%. Reading with supper made it a bit more enjoyable tonight. I‘m still not a fan of the incredibly long paragraphs and dialogue without punctuation. I feel bad for Lydia and like Ricardo Reis less and less as the story goes on.

Mommamanzi All I know is I want to come to your house for supper. That looks yum! 8mo
Daisey @Mommamanzi It was delicious, and I have plenty of leftovers for this week! 8mo
BarbaraBB I‘ve been dreading this one. 8mo
Daisey @BarbaraBB I finished it, but by the end I was just pushing through. 8mo
BarbaraBB That‘s exactly what I‘ve been afraid of. Kudos for finishing! 8mo

Pickpick

I finished listening to this #audiobook while making lamb kofta for supper. The seasoning in the recipe was good, but if I were to make it again I would just shape as burgers instead of kebabs and grill. Since it was cold and snowy today, I made these in the air fryer.

Death on the Nile was a fun listen, but I did not enjoy it quite as much as most previous Agatha Christie stories I‘ve listened to.

Texreader I need to try lamb for our Egyptian dinner. Great idea and that salad looks so amazing 8mo
Catsandbooks Looks great! 8mo
Daisey @Texreader @Catsandbooks Thanks! I don‘t make lamb often and usually just simple barely seasoned lamb burgers, so it was really fun to try it a different way. 8mo
mabell Looks really yummy! Death on the Nile, while good, isn‘t one of my favorites. 8mo

I finished this fun middle grade time travel novel with supper tonight. In this story, people with the ability to time travel are called Glitchers. Some, called Butterflies, do so with the intent to change history, & others train with secret government agencies to catch & stop them. Regan & Elliott have been lifelong enemies while in training but then discover they must work together in order to protect the only home they‘ve ever known.

I enjoyed a few more of Tolkien‘s letters with supper tonight. These to Christopher about the writing of LotR and WWII at the same time provide a much more personal perspective than the biographical writing I‘ve previously read.

As for supper, I‘ve been meaning to try making étouffée for a while and finally did today. It‘s delicious, and I‘ve got meals prepped for a few more days.

robinb I‘d love to find a good etouffee recipe. Love it but have never tried to make it. 11mo
Daisey @robinb I read lots of shrimp and crawfish recipes to compare method, but then I settled on this one since I wanted to use chicken and sausage. https://oursaltykitchen.com/chicken-etouffee/ 11mo
robinb @Daisey This is perfect! Thanks so much for sharing. I would also like to use the chicken and sausage. 😊 11mo
JazzFeathers I have never heard about etoufee. Now l need to try it! 10mo
Daisey @JazzFeathers It‘s a Cajun dish, popular in Louisiana, but I first had it in college at a local restaurant there. 10mo

I finished the rest of my #reread of this book with a lunch of chili cheese dip. I‘ve read a few of Morrison‘s books over the years and this one is still my favorite. I didn‘t read it as carefully as I did during college, but the characters in this story are fascinating.
