You can‘t make an omelette without breaking eggs, is what he says. We thought we could do better.

Better? I say in a small voice. How can he think this is better?

Better never means better for everyone, he says. It always means worse, for some.

So I thought I was just seeing my dentist about my wonky implant but it turns out the dentist wanted me to get a cleaning so badly, his scheduler just put me down for a cleaning. I don‘t do well with teeth shit so I want to thank Levar Burton for this podcast which kept me from having a panic attack!!!!

Gah I really hate teeth.

But I really love this story and this whole book, so if you haven‘t read it yet DO IT. It‘s SO GOOD. Nora is a genius!

Giving in to the desire to hate-#reread this series. Makes for a good evening read — not too much work (the flashes of rage at the misogyny/ableism/racism et al in the text aside....) & just enough reasonable prose to bind it all together. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

No moment in American history exists in a vacuum. Nationalism and fascism are not new; indeed, they are part of American soil. This fact gave births to this novel. The events in INTERNMENT—though they take place “fifteen minutes” into America‘s future—are deeply rooted in our history. You are bearing witness to them now, in our present.

This is an incredibly important book. It‘s not perfect but I hope you‘ll all read it. We are too close to all of this in the United States, especially now, months after this book was published, when we know there are literally internment (read: concentration) camps full of asylum seekers at our southern border.

I‘ll get right to it: the TWILIGHT series is my favorite hate-read/view & there‘s a marathon on tv tonight.

Watching Breaking Dawn (1). A scene I‘ve always hated plays. I hit pause run two (2) flights up to the attic, grab the novels so I can fact check.

FWIW I was correct.🏆

It‘s been years (6,7?) since I read it all but I‘m just That Nerd I guess? (Considering a series #reread rn.)

Pls enjoy KStew‘s baby vamp eyes. 🧛🏻‍♀️😍❤️

It‘s not the book, it‘s me. I thought I would try verse again but I just don‘t like it. That said, the story is good and I like the characters, I‘m just not the target audience (and that‘s okay!)

Might try it again if I can get it in hard copy from the library. For now, returning this digital loan and moving on to the next thing!

8mos after we stopped using signs with Little Dude (due to lack of consistency from 2ndary caregivers), he started using the sign for “milk” without prompting. He got very into the two baby sign language books we have for him & just a few weeks later, he‘s now signing regularly. It‘s wild & so cool to watch him realize he can use this non-verbal language to communicate what he wants more effectively!!
