We're having crazy thunderstorms this afternoon! There are probably productive things I should be doing, but I can't resist curling up in the sunroom, listening to the rain hit the metal roof, and reading a great book. 🥰

Maple Lam's new graphic novel came out last week, and I had the opportunity to meet her at #GRCC today and pick up a signed copy. I love the mix of East and West mythology, and the artwork is adorable. I can't wait to read it at the hotel tonight!
I'm going to be hanging out talking books at Grand Rapids Comic Con this weekend. They've got pretty good literary lineup, so I'm definitely going to be getting some books signed.

We're in the path of totality for the eclipse, so I'm chilling in the yard with a book, waiting for the moon snakes to devour the sun. 🤷♀️
AHHHHH! Exciting news! We're officially doing the Columbus Book Festival (Columbus, Ohio) AND the Southern Book Festival (Nashville, TN)! I'm so excited to have two great bookish shows coming up. I volunteer my booth as a spot for a Litsy meet-up. 🥰
#BookFestival #Studio42Books
Just popping in to say hello! Show season has started and I've been crazy busy and haven't kept up with Litsy the way I'd like to. (And yes, I owe some people #LitsyLove letters, too)
Pippin and I have taken the evening off and are cuddled up reading the latest Valdemar trilogy and drinking tea.
A gender swapped, feminist Orpheus and Eurydice?
Yes, please!
As a related side-note: I saw Hadestown last week and it was one of the, if not THE best shows I've ever seen live. If you're a musical and/or mythology buff you have to check that it out!
We head home on Friday, so I need to enjoy beach reading while I can. I'm so glad I upgraded to the glare proof edition when I upgraded my Kindle - it makes reading in the sun SO much easier!
We're in Florida for the week visiting my snowbird parents. I could happily read on the beach all day, but everyone else started whinning about silly things like being hungry, and not wanting to miss the Super Bowl. 😮💨
JoAnn Fabrics has these really cute bookish birdhouses on sale right now! I, obviously, had to get one. 🥰📚🐦
I stopped by Dollar Tree today and found this cute Valentine's Day decoration. It's three-dimensional, and they had a few different designs. I figured I should get one for my romance shelf. 🥰
I'm typically a fan of Michaelides' brand of pretentious psycho-lit, but I think this one just went too far for me.
It felt like there were no bread crumbs and the twist was out of the blue. Combine that with characters that were all various degrees of horrible... well, I just didn't like this one much at all. Meh.
My first book is the tagged, second book in The Last Binding trilogy. I finished the series today (book #7 for the year!) and give the series 5 stars overall. I think this was the weakest of the series, but still really good. If you like spicy historic fantasy check this one out!

I'm listening to the latest Natalie Haynes (who is brilliant) while working on my 2024 reading #bujo. If you can't tell by the tail, Tommy is helping. 😁
There are two fictionalized versions of the Medea story coming out this year and I'm really excited to read them both. Luckily, I have an eGalley of this one and a happy Pippin to help me read it.

Okay, littens, help me pick some books! I'm going to split the year between Litsy and Facebook suggestions, so tag your favorite book or a book you're looking forward to reading. Help me find some new favorites! 🥰
I read 257 books in 2023, here are my favorites!
💜💜
Happy holidays, everyone! I wish you all good company, yummy food, and lots of books. 🥰
My partner did such a great job with holiday gifts this year! He got me a remote page turner for my Kindle and this amazing book haul! The Fitzgerald is the fancy Broken Binding edition, the Barker is signed, and the Burton is the illustrated edition that I've been lusting after for ages! I feel very happy and spoiled. 🥰
I don't even know how to review this one except to say it was one of the best books I've read this year, but also BRUTAL.
Basically, a bunch of children are raised by their "Father", who might be a god, and are trained in a single subject, such as languages, animals, reincarnation, murder... And maybe the world might end? Or maybe the god might retire? Or maybe a man in a tutu might murder everyone? Come for the violence, stay for the feelings!
My friend got me the CUTEST bookends and stickers as a holiday gift! Aren't these the greatest?
If you're looking for a seasonal read that isn't a romantic comedy you should check out The Kingdom of Sweets. It's a dark fairytale inspired by The Nutcracker that centers around a set of twins (one light and one dark), their magician godfather, and a fairy who rules over a land of confections. It's dark, twisty, and wonderful. 4☆
Did I resort to turning the page on my kindle with my nose, because both hands were occupied by cats? Yes. Yes, I did. 😅
Tonight Pippin and I are starting this fake dating, enemies-to-lovers, GBBO inspired romance. I have this book and one graphic novel to read and I'll have finished all my 2023 reading challenges! Pip is just happy that it's an ebook, so I have a hand free to give him belly rubs.
#CatsOfLitsy
I've been burning through audiobooks the last few days, trying to finish up my #2023 reading challenges. Unfortunately, a few of the prompts were ones I had put off, because they sounded boring/terrible... and now I have to finish them all in the next couple weeks. 😅 Dammit, Past Me, why couldn't you have spaced them throughout the year?
Bonus photo of Tommy being a festive chonk. #CatsOfLitsy
Jo Segura in conversion with Anastasia Ryan tonight at Gathering Volumes!
All of my #CardSwap cards and half of my #LitsyLove cards are going out today!
@LibrarianRyan
Did I NEED more bookish holiday ornaments? No.
Did I buy this one at Target? Hell, yeah, I did! 📚🎄
Harper Collins is taking over the Toledo Library today! They've got seven authors speaking at panels, a Book Buzz presentation, and signings. I'm so stoked!
Tommy decided to join Pip and me reading tonight. I finished Sweep the Blade (LOVED IT) and have started this novella. I can't believe there's only one novel left in this series. I'm going to miss it...
Also, I have so many Christmas lights that I can actually read by them. It's ridiculous. 😅🥰
#CatsOfLitsy
Before Pippin and I settled in to read I took this picture of my incredibly festive favorite reading spot. If you look close, you can see the stained glass version of Pip hanging in the window.
#CatsOfLitsy
Today's edition of Pippin sleeping under my Kindle has the added bonus of being festive! My house looks like a holiday tornado blew in, but that's a project for tomorrow. Right now, I'm enjoying a mug of tea, kitten snugs, and a great book.
#CatsOfLitsy
We got all of the holiday decorations out of the attic this evening and set the tree up. It's in a new location, so we're going to give the cats a few days before we decorate it. But I have the perfect festive view from where we moved my reading chair. 🥰🎄
The Libby app posted this earlier, and it's brought up the question of how many library cards are too many?
So, answer me this: how many library cards do you have?
(I have 16 😅)
We don't typically do craft shows, but the local Craftsman Guild asked us to do their holiday show this weekend, so we figured we'd give it a go. Before we opened this morning I was reading the tagged book. I looked across the room and made eye contact with a woman... who was reading the exact same book! 😂
Bonus photo of my partner acting silly. #S42D
Today is Pippin's got'cha day! He's been my constant reading buddy for six years! Tonight Tommy and I are giving him lots of cuddles while we read.
#CatsOfLitsy
When Light Bringer came out earlier this year Pierce Brown released an exclusive file that could be used to print a life-sized Sling Blade. Well, I don't have space for a 5' long cosplay weapon... so I had a friend shrink the file and print me a small version for my bookshelf. Today, I finally got around to painting it. I tried to get one of the cats to pose with it, but had to settle for this book stack photo.
Today's audiobook project has been painting this owlbear miniature for my Dungeons and Dragons campaign. He's very small, so it was a challenge to get in all the details I wanted, but overall, I'm happy with the result. Owlbears are my favorite fantasy creatures, and I think more books should use them. Forget dragons, owlbears are the future! 😁
Bonus: This is one of my favorite Greek historical fiction books.

I've got some #LitsyLove letters going out today. I'm always so jealous at how pretty everyone's handwriting is! Mine looks like someone gave espresso to a kindergartener. 😅
Travis Baldree in Schueler's in Grand Rapids, Michigan! Totally worth the 3.5 hour drive!
#AuthorEvent
Another day, another picture of Pippin lounging under my Kindle. 🥰
I'm up to book three in this series and each one has gotten progressively better! I'll finish this one tonight and then have to take a quick break to read a book for an event Thursday, but I expect to finish the series this weekend.
#CatsOfLitsy
My favorite part of conventions is finding cosplayers and have them pose with the book they match. 🥰
#MC3 #Studio42Books
These are my current go-to books to read before the floor opens at conventions. They're short, relatively cozy, and move slow enough that I don't get mad when I have to turn off my kindle. Has anyone else read this series?
#MC3 #Studio42Books
On our way to set up for the show we stopped at the Toledo Friends of the Library sale! This is my 10$ stack of books, all of which I'm super excited about. 🥰
Another weekend, another con (this one Motor City Comic Con in Detroit). I remember when I was on the road half the time, doing three shows a month. The pandemic really showed me how nice it is to just stay home! 😅 This is our last show of the year, so we'll make it a good one.
#MC3 #Studio42Books
Tommy loves to hang out when I read, but don't let his cuteness fool you- there is absolutely nothing going on in his fluffy little head. 😅 He's mostly blind and dumb as a box of rocks, but he's the sweetest cat I've ever had. And how could you not love that derpy face? 🥰
