Something became apparent to me early on in this book and then just bothered me the rest of the time. This book is definitely on the darker side but really just lost its spark for me half way through. I think I need a break from stories with groups of people trapped in houses because the whole story I was just bored. 😑

Ideas are seen in our heads like seeds. Some are scattered and some are forgotten; others take root and grow to become something much bigger than they were in the beginning. Sometimes we make notes in the margins of our minds, thoughts and ideas that are just for us alone to read and ponder over.

On the one hand this was nicely creepy and sinister with a story of family dynamics and dramas, with said family being trapped in a house cut off by the sea for 8-hours on Halloween, whereby they start dropping like flies. On the other hand I guessed one major twist just a chapter or two in which irritated me from then onwards, and it just felt too long. Overall it was an easy, creepy October read, but perhaps just a little disappointing…

I loved this! It‘s an homage/retelling of And Then There Were None, so if you‘re a fan of Agatha Christie, you‘ll love this. However, it does have some twists and keeps it interesting in its own way too! I really loved it.

Yes, another fantastic Feeney masterpiece. I started to figure out Daisy‘s character early on, but there were enough twists and turns to keep the story interesting. Who doesn‘t love a dysfunctional family full of dark secrets, a scary house on a secluded island, a roaring storm, and a murder mystery?!

This was a fun ride. A locked room mystery told from the perspective of Daisy Darker. Daisy and her family are invited to the matriarch‘s birthday dinner at her secluded house by the sea. When the clock strikes midnight they start dying one by one. While I figured out the big twist pretty early one, I was still trying to workout the whodunnit until the reveal.

I've been reading more murder mysteries than usual lately. Not usually my thing. I have a problem with all the dying. Call me crazy but reading about terrible murders is kind of depressing. However, this was kind of a different spin on the usual. It felt like a murder mystery game with fun poems with hints in them thrown around. I enjoyed this book! It helped noone really acted emotionally devastated with some of the dead bodies. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Cupcake12 I‘ve just finished this book too and loved it! I don‘t normally like murder/mystery but this was totally different! 9mo

Magpiegem @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks a lot of people did, that‘s why I got it. I love a locked room mystery AND I love a ghost story. But I guessed the sixth sense element within about 2 pages and then every interaction was just annoying. I did quite like the last few chapters but not enough to redeem it. 😂 9mo

This is the second book I‘ve read by Alice Feeney. I liked one as much as the other. This particular book had me guessing until the end. I loved the setting where this book took place. Being a loner, I‘d love to live in an area you can only get to during certain times. I didn‘t love all of the characters, but I wasn‘t supposed to. It‘s not that kind of a book. I look forward to reading more by this author.

There are a lot of And Then There Were None retellings out there & this is a good one. The narration style is intriguing & the I really didn't see the twist coming, though looking back there are definite hints there for careful readers. Things moved very quickly & it was one of those books that you sit down with on an afternoon & then just don't want to walk away from. Though it didn't really blow me away, it was absolutely a great binge read.

The Darker family are having a reunion for Nanas 80th birthday. Together one last time, the tide comes in and they are cut off from the rest of the world for one night. At midnight, Nana is found dead, an hour later so is someone else. Someone is killing them one by one. Will they find out before sunrise?
This book alternates between current day and the 1980s. Filled with twists and turns, a dark, clever read and a definite page turner.

This was a fun “And Then There Were None” type trapped murder mystery. At first the book‘s phrasing seemed cliched to me, a little cringey, but once the murders start happening, I really enjoyed the plot. (What does this say about me?😂) An estranged, really horrible family gathers together to celebrate the grandmother‘s 80th birthday at an isolated estate and one by one, on the hour, they start dying.Yeah, I figured it about 90% out whodunnit.Fun

Finished this one last week! The ending is what made it a so-so for me. Other than that I really enjoyed the suspense and buildup as the characters kept being killed one by one. I was surprised by the ending and not in the best way. I will still read books by this author as I have a couple of her other ones. I really enjoyed Daisy as a main character. An overall fun locked room mystery.

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I loved it 🖤 13mo
MyNamesParadise @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I loved it too, until the end. I mean it was definitely a twist. I just have issues with books that are marketed as a mystery and then the big reveal is dependent on introducing the element of the supernatural. Now I don‘t mind supernatural in general: I love Simone St. James. I just feel like it‘s a cop out. I wish there had been more of a real world twist. It‘s just a pet peeve of mine 🤷🏼‍♀️ 13mo

Ever since my first Alice Feeney book, she has been an autobuy author for me and this book is another perfect example of why that is. What an addictive, dark read, I was spellbound from start to finish, I also recommend going into this one blind like I did...so don't even read the synopsis, if you can resist..it will be so worth it!! This book is a twist on Agatha Christie‘s novel And Then There We‘re None with a touch of Shirley Jackson‘s We Have Always Lived in the Castle. Daisy Darker and her family gather for their Nana‘s 80th, prophesied, last, birthday, maybe? I found myself hiding the last paragraph of each chapter so I didn‘t peek and spoil the next reveal. This was an eerily fun read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
