Seinfeldia
Seinfeldia: How a Show About Nothing Changed Everything | Jennifer Keishin Armstrong
Her book, as if she were a marine biologist, is a deep dive...Perhaps the highest praise I can give Seinfeldia is that it made me want to buy a loaf of marbled rye and start watching again, from the beginning. Dwight Garner, The New York Times Book Review The hilarious behind-the-scenes story of two guys who went out for coffee and dreamed up Seinfeldthe cultural sensation that changed television and bled into the real world, altering the lives of everyone it touched. Comedians Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld never thought anyone would watch their silly little sitcom about a New York comedian sitting around talking to his friends. NBC executives didnt think anyone would watch either, but they bought it anyway, hiding it away in the TV dead zone of summer. But against all odds, viewers began to watch, first a few and then many, until nine years later nearly forty million Americans were tuning in weekly. In Seinfeldia, acclaimed TV historian and entertainment writer Jennifer Keishin Armstrong celebrates the creators and fans of this American television phenomenon, bringing readers behind-the-scenes of the show while it was on the air and into the world of devotees for whom it never stopped being relevant, a world where the Soup Nazi still spends his days saying No soup for you!, Joe Davola gets questioned every day about his sanity, Kenny Kramer makes his living giving tours of New York sights from the show, and fans dress up in Jerrys famous puffy shirt, dance like Elaine, and imagine plotlines for Seinfeld if it were still on TV.

After listening to Seinfeld's new book, I felt some major nostalgia for the show, and this fit the bill perfectly, a blend of behind the scenes, trivia, gossip and a look at the impact of the show. 4 📺📺📺📺

I'm a huge Seinfeld fan, so when I stumbled upon this audiobook I couldn't help myself. There wasn't much in this that I didn't know, but it was still a fun trip down memory lane. The photo is from my favorite episode where George pretends to be a marine biologist.

The ending was a little drier and drawn out, but the rest of the book had me right back there in the 90‘s with Jerry and the gang. With characters & catch phrases such as the Soup Nazi, Festivus, the Junior Mint, the Contest, and so much more, you cannot read this and then NOT immediately run to your TV to go watch old streamed episodes.

I love Seinfeld, but I cannot say the same for this book. The author didn't connect with me in her writing style. The whole "seinfeldia" idea felt really cheesy and she repeated herself quite a bit. A super fan should have written this book and I can tell she is not one. If you like Seinfeld you will enjoy some of the memories in this book, but you'd get the same enjoyment from watching the series again and the DVD extras.

The dangerous thing about this book is that all you want to do is watch each and every episode referenced. Good thing it's on Hulu now! Fascinatingly insightful for original fans of the show and newcomers alike, this book dives deep into the origins of our favorite episodes and shows us the creative process that pushed the boundaries of sitcoms in the 90s. Explores the way society grew to love and appreciate the culture of Seinfeldia.

DebinHawaii I really enjoyed this one too & it definitely made me go back and rewatch episodes! 👍📚😀 7y

I recommended this earlier in the week when I was midway through & finishing it this morning, it's still a pick for me but I will say that your level of enjoyment of it will be directly related to your fandom of the show & love for trivia/behind-the-scenes info. I especially liked hearing where some of my favorite episodes originated but things can get a little repetitive & some chapters are stronger than others. I feel a binge watch coming on!😆

I am a die hard Seinfeld fan so this book fed my addiction. It offered behind the scenes glimpses and gave voices to those that made the show what it was.
