It was nice to see how Amanda and Evelyn‘s friendship came to be and how strong it is. Getting flashbacks have the book a different feel than the others that I enjoyed 🥰 I also loved the insight in Wills life 📖

Wow! This is #6 in the Will Trent, along with evil acts perpetrated on women you might assume nobody is looking for ,you learn more of Wills background. Also, it flashes back to Evelyn Mitchell & Amanda Wagner in the 1970s trying their best to be good police officers when women basically were not wanted by the old boys club of policing. So much going on in this one .

“A cinnamon brown Oldsmobile Cutlass crawled up Edgewood Avenue ,the windows lowered, the driver hunched down in his seat.”
Will Trent is a brilliant agent with the GBI Newly in love, he is beginning to put a difficult past behind him. Then a local college student goes missing, and Will is inexplicably kept off the case by his supervisor and mentor, deputy director Amanda Wagner. Will cannot fathom why—until the two of them literally collide in an abandoned orphanage. Decades before, when his father was imprisoned for murder, this was Will‘s home
This is another brutal thriller/procedural by Karin Slaughter. I thought I was prepped for it by the Will Trent episode with Amanda‘s backstory, but nope. The book is exponentially worse. The crimes are nauseating. I loved getting the backstories for Amanda, Evelyn, and Will, though. I love Slaughter‘s writing, but I need to remember to have something light on deck afterwards!
The origin story of Will Trent. It was so enlightening. The only thing I didn‘t care for was the back and forth between 1975 and the present (but it‘s understandable). The other thing I hope happens soon is Angie exiting the story completely. #SeriesLove2023 @Andrew65 @TheSpineView
Agent Will Trent is newly in love and beginning to put a difficult past behind him. When a college student goes missing, his supervisor doesn‘t allow him on the case. Then the two of them collide in an abandoned orphanage. Decades ago, when his father was imprisoned for murder, this was Will‘s home. The case involves the mystery of Will‘s birth/parents. Now they will need to face demons from the past and prevent a greater terror.
I'm sure this isn't the first Will Trent book I have read. It was entertaining and kept me reading - I liked the way it jumped between the seventies and the present day. The narrative was typically brutal, lots of rape and brutal torturous deaths. Casual sexism was explicit and embodied by the character Amanda, in a way that probably made the author baulk at her character's anti-feminism! Final verdict: Entertaining but most probably forgettable.
Dis is probably my favorite in this series. It moves b/w present day &1974,we get to know about Will's parents but it highlights the toxic environment women had to work in back then in Atlanta police, not that they have it any easier now, sexist remarks, sexual advances,it was just awful.Have had issues with pacing of this series but it was worth it.I loved that Will, even though had a difficult childhood, had someone looking out for him at every step.
Loved this book. It was one of those books where you did not want to put down. There was twist and turn on every page. I can not wait to read more of Karin Slaughter's books!!

But also... can we talk about how bummed I was during my morning commute when I thought I had plenty of book left and BOOM - the ending and acknowledgements came out of nowhere.
I mean seriously - is that not a huge chunk of pages left?! (I'm mostly just mad at myself for not having the next book in the series on me 😭)
Another great Slaughter book with a twist I didn't see coming! I love getting more and more backstory on Will and Amanda - such great characters.👏🏽
Funny story: Went to grab dinner on my last night in SF and ended up at a communal table at this really yummy restaurant. I pulled out a new Slaughter to read while waiting for my food (shocker, I know ?). At some point, the lady across from me says "Good book? I'm looking for a new thriller", which led to me raving about every single one of Karin's books and ended with her and her friend ordering Blindsighted online.
My work here is done ?
Kept my interest even though creepy twists, some of which I suspected were coming.
What a great thriller with some time travel to the 70's Atlanta. It just gets better with #karinslaughter. Feat.: My beloved and always missed Perséfone 🐶

This was my first Karin Slaughter novel. I found out half way through this book that it is part of a series but it stood alone just fine and I LOVED it!! I am definitely going to go back and read the rest. I could not put it down. 😆
I started reading Karin Slaughter‘s books last year and I have loved every single one so far! And her books are full of so many #Criminal activities I‘m just glad I don‘t live in Grant County !🕵🏻♀️

Fun, fast paced series that isn't formulaic. Plus Will Trent. Dreamy.

Using #springcleaningreadathon to catch up on some of my neglected podcasts as well. Criminal ✅, now off to take a walk and listen to some Fresh Air.
I enjoyed the Amanda/Evelyn back story a lot. Will's character seems to be getting more and more obtuse. Angie finally did something I approved of. Preferred this narrator to the one from the previous book with the hokey southern accents.
Stressed out with moving , work and working on Master's degree.... need me some Karin Slaughter
Been reading all day, don't want to stop!😭📚📖
And what have you been doing,my friends?😄
Currently sick but this will pick me right up. Karin never dissapoints😄😄
Book haul from library book sale. $18.00! Yes!
Oh man, SO good. Lots of secrets revealed, relationships explained, puzzle pieces put into place. Some parts were really hard to read. But I really love Sara and how good she is for Will; of course Will is good for Sara, too. I can't wait to see where their relationship goes next. In the end, this might rank with Indelible as my favorite of Slaughter's book.
About halfway through, trying to figure out the plot twists. Loving it so far, especially the flashbacks to the '70's; I find myself cringing at times, but also marveling at Karin Slaughter's ability to capture that time without seeing it through the lens of contemporary political correctness. And, let me just say that the more I read about him, the more I love Will both because he is so broken and because he doesn't let that define him.
Settling back into this; Olympics on in the background and my favorite reading companion keeping me pinned to the couch.
Today's reading. Hottest day of the year so far, three day weekend screaming for reading mysteries, and I think it's time to catch up with the last two books in this series. I'm diving in, see y'all on the flip side.
