Some of the finest crime/noir storytelling in comics. Brubaker is a master at this. He has various crime series, and I cannot find fault with any of them. Bastard makes it look easy!
He is leagues above in quality over any other comic writer attempting crime fiction. There is no contest. Follow this man‘s writing, and you will never be disappointed.

A recovering, low-level low life is at the wrong place at the wrong time, and is pulled into a web of trouble. An extra layer of story and art on display as the main character is also writes a comic strip, and his creation enters the world through his mind.

Not my favorite volume so far. The lives of three characters told from three different POVs.

Tracy returns home to find answers about the death of his brother. No stranger to getting his hands dirty, he joins his brother's old crew and gets in deeper than he expected. Solid gold from Brubaker and Phillips.

I've read a couple Criminal stories here and there, but this will be my first proper read through, in anticipation of the upcoming TV series. Leo has a reputation of being an expert thief, but the first to hit the bricks at a sign of trouble. When someone from his past reemerges, he takes a job he knows he shouldn't, and, predictably, it doesn't go well, but modern master Brubaker keeps things interesting.

These are the first two books in the Harper Connolly series. I love this series. Harper was struck by lightning when she was a teenage, and now she can see dead people. So now her and her stepbrother travel the country trying to solve murders.
