Josh and Hazel's Guide to Not Dating
Josh and Hazel's Guide to Not Dating | Christina Lauren
102 posts | 117 read | 92 to read
Most men cant handle Hazel. With the energy of a toddler and the mouth of a sailor, theyre often too timid to recognize her heart of gold. New York Times and #1 international bestselling author Christina Lauren (Roomies, Beautiful Bastard) tells the story of two people who are definitely not dating, no matter how often they end up in bed together. Hazel Camille Bradford knows shes a lot to takeand frankly, most men arent up to the challenge. If her army of pets and thrill for the absurd dont send them running, her lack of filter means shell say exactly the wrong thing in a delicate moment. Their loss. Shes a good soul in search of honest fun. Josh Im has known Hazel since college, where her zany playfulness proved completely incompatible with his mellow restraint. From the first night they metwhen she gracelessly threw up on his shoesto when she sent him an unintelligible email while in a post-surgical haze, Josh has always thought of Hazel more as a spectacle than a peer. But now, ten years later, after a cheating girlfriend has turned his life upside down, going out with Hazel is a breath of fresh air. Not that Josh and Hazel date. At least, not each other. Because setting each other up on progressively terrible double blind dates means theres nothing between them...right?

This was a just the lighthearted romcom I needed to fall into today. It was a very quick read and I was pleasantly surprised it was set in Portland. This is an attraction of opposites and a best friend turned lover plot, but it‘s not cliche. Hazel is the kind of person I wish I were! She is bright and fun and unapologetically herself. She‘d make an amazing best friend!. Dance when you want and cartwheel when the need strikes!

I haven't given up on my #ReadingUSA2019 challenge but it hasn't been my first priority when it comes to challenges. That'll change this autumn 😊🍁
In July I managed to check off Nebraska and Oregon with these two easy reads 📚 My goal is 25 states and so far I've been to 8 😁 There's room for improvement!

This was fun. Not overly fond of how the male reader read Hazel, but it was fun! I love a fun contemporary romance and a nice break from all the murder I usual read about. 😏

Well, I finished rereading Dating You / Hating You this morning, listened to all of The Unhoneymooners this afternoon, and just started rereading Roomies. Apparently, it‘s a Christina Lauren kinda day. 🤷🏼‍♀️ It feels only appropriate to post this book for #J for #30JuneBooks.

It was too cutesy and too predictable. Wanted a fun and easy read, but it ended up feeling too saccharine. Might be timing, might actually be the book. Predictable is okay, some genres almost demand it, but not original enough to make it work for me. Didn‘t get far. Decided to move on. Don‘t think I‘ll try again later either.

Cute & fun! Was nervous that the “friends can‘t date” trope would carry on too long, but nope! Ended perfectly.

Finished my first Christina Lauren ever! It was super cinnabon-sweet and made me laugh out loud a couple times, and the sexy times were 🔥. Hazel borders on the kind of quirky that's almost unbelievable, but luckily it's humorous enough to pull it off. I'm going to read The Unhoneymooners next 😊

Wow wow wow. I think this male voice actor is possibly the worst I've ever heard at doing women's voices. His narration of Hazel's voice is completely unbearable. And tbh, the first chapter did not endear me to Hazel's character; I found her pretty annoying. Too bad, I really liked the last Christina Lauren book I read! #Romantsy #Romance

I was happy to leave work at lunch to read this from the comfort of my car. The protagonists were likable and the humorous story was entirely predictable, but it perfectly fit my need for escapist fiction.

Reggie Lol, I‘m glad you liked this. “Please don‘t spoil, Winnie.” “Are we talking about the dog who‘s wearing a WonderWoman T-shirt?” 8mo

I‘m not usually a fan of crazy/quirky/zany female protagonists, but Hazel had me laughing out loud almost from the start!
In this dual-POV contemporary romance, Hazel isn‘t going to change for anyone. The thing is, is she too much for the more restrained Josh whose opinions matter to her very much? Can Josh risk giving another piece of himself away after a 2-yr relationship fails?
Fast & fun read

Super unpopular, but I really disliked this. The humor didn't land, the heroine was hard to stomach, the hero was boringly perfect... And I can't ever see them making a relationship with the lack of chemistry.

This is a definite #BlameItOnLitsy because I don‘t tend to venture very far into the #romance genre... and I was especially hesitant about listening to the sexy bits... but I have to say, this light-hearted and sweetly predictable novel was a great distraction to some of the heaviness that 2019 has been doling out so far! And I thought this brightly colored #AudioColoring would be something Hazel would approve of! 🤣🤣🤣

*Unpopular Opinion* After stopping at the 70% mark five months ago, I finally finished it. I loved Josh and Hazel but I didn‘t end up liking their story. They were open about everything. Oversharing is in Hazel‘s nature. Yet the only thing keeping them apart is their reluctance to talk about their feelings. I also found how they got physical icky (drunk and sleeping) and one of my least favorite tropes popped up at the end.
