Really cute story and an easy read! There were 2 main reasons this didn‘t get a full “thumbs up” from me: 1. The point of view changed often and it was a little confusing to follow the characters 2. It was VERY slow. This probably could have been told in 300 pages or less to be honest. Still a fun read though!

Sweet and entertaining love story about soap opera stars navigating a new show, tabloid drama, and romance. Loved the writing, characters, and Latinx representation. The storyline was a little cheesy and certain minor confrontations were dragged out a little too far. Other than that, it was a fun read!

So sorry for not being active in a while and for not responding to all my lovely #LitsyLove yet! I‘ve recently experienced an unexpected, sudden loss in the family due to a horrific accident. While I‘ve been grieving and trying to cope with what has happened, I have been doing much better this week and intend to make more of an effort to read, post, and write back all you littens 💕

This book was such a pleasant surprise! I LOVED it! It‘s very rare that a book makes me laugh out loud, but that‘s exactly what happened (though it was more of a dry-humor, which is right up my alley). I think this was exactly what I needed to get me out of my “so-so” slump.

I went into this thinking it was going to be a light rom-com (based on the book summary) but boy was I wrong! It was definitely more of an emotional story about friendship, rather than an unrequited love as the tag line suggests. Still a great story, looking forward to reading more by the author 💛

TheAromaofBooks I've only read one book by this author & it was the same way - I was expecting a fluffy romcom, but ended up with something a lot more serious. It was still a good book, but I wish books were promoted more honestly. I don't think I liked the book as much as I could have, because it wasn't what I was in the mood for when I picked it up, if that makes sense. 3mo
samanthagutt @TheAromaofBooks exactly!!! I was in the mood to read something else, and feel like I got a little duped, which almost made me DNF until I was more in the mood for this type of story. It was still a good book, just wish the blurb and tag line were more honest 3mo
TheAromaofBooks I just don't understand why publishers (or whoever it is who does covers/blurbs) thinks it's a good idea to give readers the wrong impression about a book?? I'm much more likely to dislike/give a lower rating to a book that isn't what I'm expecting, just because I was in the mood for something other than what I got. It's like handing me pizza when I was ready for ice cream... still good, but not what I was ready to eat?? 😂 3mo
samanthagutt @TheAromaofBooks YES! I completely agree and love that analogy! It‘s so true 3mo

This series of novellas is perfect for October reading! It‘s a dark retelling of the Wizard of Oz stories, where everything we know from the classic isn‘t what it seems. In this story, Dorothy Gale returns to Oz.. but she‘s not the sweet and kind heroine anymore. Full of witches, magic, and familiar details, I can already tell I‘m going to love reading this series for the spookiest time of the year!

Twainy I enjoyed this series also! 😁 4mo

I feel like most of my reads lately have just missed the mark. Maybe I‘m being too picky or maybe it‘s time to switch genres for a little. This was a really cute + funny story. I loved the characters, though sometimes the written lines were a bit annoying. They probably would have read better as an audiobook or on television. It was also WAY too long and drawn out. I found myself just waiting for something interesting to happen a little too often

There were a couple of cute and funny parts, but honestly most of it was just so far-fetched and cringey. There was too much love-to-hate-to-love over and over again, even when it didn‘t make any sense to start hating each other again. The handful of fun parts saved this from being a complete bail or DNF for me

Spent a good part of this beautiful day finishing this book ☀️ maybe it‘s because I‘ve always loved the all the glamour and glitter of the New York high society in the 1950s, but this historical fiction about Truman Capote and Babe Paley‘s friendship was enjoyable to read. It does get a little campy at times, but overall i thought it was fun!

marleed I loved reading this book. I went down a Babe Paley online rabbit hole piecing things together and the realizing she was essentially the mother-in-law to Charlie Rose. Fascinating that anyone in this world survived to 50 with all those cigarettes! 4mo
samanthagutt @marleed really?! I didn‘t know that! I started researching into Babe and Truman too 😅 seriously! it seems like they would smoke nonstop every single day 4mo
marleed @samanthagutt I believe it is her daughter that was the longtime love of Charlie Rose which is super interesting because of Charlie‘s CBS connection and then Babe‘s 2nd husband basically invented CBS. I would love to see a documentary or read a NF where Babe is the main character. 4mo

I really enjoyed the first quarter of this book, but it feels like the entire plot happens in that first 25% and the rest just drags on. I wish there was more character development, because I like Alexa (the MC). Overall it was a cute story, i think I just had higher expectations for it.

I started out really not liking this book. The dialogue felt equivalent to “bad acting” in written form. ~50 pages in I started to enjoy it & couldn‘t put it down. Towards the end it started getting really cheesy again. The story was predictable (I figured out the ending really early on), a little cringey, and unrealistic. But the middle portion of the story saved this book from being a “pan” for me! ☺️

Started out loving this story about a woman who moves in with her brother and falls for his best friend, but it started getting a little dull for me about 50% through. It was too much of an instant love-at-first-sight connection, which made the dragging out of the romance so unnecessary and irritating at times. I was getting tired of the “does he feel the same way/no he can‘t possibly because he‘s too out of my league” line over and over

Cute, fluffy romantic-comedy about a girl named Lucy Valentine, whose family owns a matchmaking business. When her parents go away for a few weeks, they leave the business in the hands of Lucy, who wasn‘t blessed with the same genetic matchmaking abilities as her dad. But, she does have her own psychic gift and teams up with a handsome PI to solve some crimes. Overall it was a quick, fun read!

Great book if you‘re looking for a fluffy, predictable romance with no true conflict. It was perfect for me because I‘ve been searching for books that I can read in under a day to try and catch up my my reading goal! Probably could have done with all the repetitive “no, he can‘t like me, plus he has that rule..” which felt like it was being said at least every other page. But all-in-all it was a really cute and lighthearted story.

Like most of the other readers, I read this because I loved One of Us is Lying, but this book was really lackluster in comparison. The plot twists weren‘t very exciting and the whole idea around this story was a little silly. If you like YA mysteries/thrillers I would definitely recommend One of Us is Lying over this book.

😐😐 okay, so I realize I‘m in the minority here, but I did not enjoy this book. It was so confusing and boring to me. The entire first half of the book felt more like a handwriting/font course.. zero romance or plot. Then there was a tiny bit of romance and just switched to a very strange mystery. It‘s probably on me, I just didn‘t understand or relate to the story at all. Such a disappointment because I was so excited to read it!
