Dark and twisty with a twist I did not predict. My favorite kind of novel!

3 dead bodies in an apparent cult suicide situation, missing teenagers and a baby left in a cot. The tale is told in 3 perspectives jumping between the past and present. What happened in this socialites house? Libby- the baby from the inherits the house soon begins to learn the truth about her family: shocking revelations!

Hard to look at moths the same way again. I read this book purely for the fact that it‘s one of the few with an asexual character. Kudos to Claire for that! I loved the girl power aspects and the misogynistic group being torn down— but the whole first half confused me too much. It ended up reminding me a lot of It. First half was a ⭐️⭐️, overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️. LGBTQIA YA horror.

I saw the controversy on this on after finishing the book. I commented to myself, while reading, that there were a lot of racial overtones through. I don‘t, however, find that this book is racist though. Merely, it highlights the racial injustice in the world and shows a girl who was brought up learning flawed logic, but is learning how wrong it all is. #bookclubpick

Princess Sylvie emerges from her childlike self to a strong feminist woman in this laugh-out-loud book. What is shown as a perfect marriage quickly unravels in the midst of too many secrets and not enough communication. Some dark family secrets emerge which paints things in an entirely different light but allow for healing and a rebonding ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #mbcreadathon #mbcfrogsread11

This has been in my audible collection for years. I found it to be a slow start, and that‘s why it sat as a DNF for so long. During this readathon I committed though. This is an alternative history tale. What would the US look like if slavery was never abolished? This is both thought provoking and frightening. Some liberties were taken, as our main character gets away with a lot in this reality. But it‘s an excellent read ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #mbcreadathon

This check in for the readathon asked about our favorite book as a child. My favorite book as a kid was a large book of fairy tales and within that this tale in particular stood out to me. It took me awhile as an adult to track down what it was. Now I‘ll never forget ❤️ #mbcreadathon #mbcfrogsread8

More lists and workshop planning than I expected. Nothing revolutionary in this. ⭐️⭐️

This in an epic tale: historical & romance, involving a romance from WWII to modern era. It is both heartbreaking and realistic. Ichimei and Alma are the star crossed lovers of their time. This feels like it could be real. In the modern era we have Irina, the Moldovan immigrant who becomes close to Alma and is entrusted with her secrets all the while Irina‘s skin crawling childhood secrets come to light as well. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #mbcreadathon

Well I wrote a review and then it disappeared. Hmm starting again albeit shorter. Love conquers all and souls can be joined is the message here. Short and sweet. YA romance with a fantasy twist. It lacked an emotional tug for me that I felt it was trying for though. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ #mbcreadathon #mbcfrogsread 4 hrs read

I decided to read another Christina Lauren book for another quick and fun read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ despite the fact that it‘s a bit cringey how their relationship was built on a whole lot of lies and poor communication. Plus you know it‘s major privilege to do something illegal as they do and have it be not a problem at all. But nevertheless it swept me up and the whole Irish accent in the audiobook is a huge plus 🤣

This was a just the lighthearted romcom I needed to fall into today. It was a very quick read and I was pleasantly surprised it was set in Portland. This is an attraction of opposites and a best friend turned lover plot, but it‘s not cliche. Hazel is the kind of person I wish I were! She is bright and fun and unapologetically herself. She‘d make an amazing best friend!. Dance when you want and cartwheel when the need strikes!

Regardless of political beliefs, this is a key topic that isn‘t talked about enough. Automation affects more than our factory workers. We simply are not prepared and too much denial is out there. The first half of the book discusses the current state and future. It is presented in a clear and presentable manner. Yangs solutions are not new but are transformative. I am interested in the digital currency of time banking. Gamification! I‘m impressed.

There will be more random mass shootings in the months ahead, as middle aged white men self-destruct and feel that life has no meaning. As the mindset of scarcity spreads and deepens people‘s executive functioning will erode. It takes self control to resist base impulses. Racism and misogyny will become more and more pervasive... Contributing...will be a climate that equates opposing ideas or speech to violence or hated
