🤍 beautiful. A story that needed to be told. I‘ve never been as shocked by a book as when the casserole scene happens and it changes the tone of the story. Amazing, amazing

⚠️Spoilers⚠️So sad! I thought Jackson and Griffin were going to hook up eventually, but the whole scene was heartbreaking. When he starts doing the kisses?! I could feel the out of body experience of betrayal. I liked Theo a lot, he always seemed ethereal and idealized; by the end of it, they were all flawed. The fog of love consumed all of them and bound them together. (And not even because Griff literally hooked up with all 3 guys in the story)

*spoilers without context above! 🤪 Great book! The story hits harder the farther you go into it, which just demonstrates the beautiful writing. So much about love, mental health, friendship, sexuality, and grief, and how they all come together in a completely honest and messy way. There‘s a line about letting somebody go for something that isn‘t their fault that hit me so hard. Death is weird but there is power and light in history

I don‘t know how to process this. I‘m sad, but it‘s a hopeful kind of sad that came from watching these two realize so much within each other. A beautiful story about a terrifying concept; offers a very valuable lesson about making the most of our time by being authentically us. Was a bit confusing to cover so many characters that intertwine, but it added to the suspense. So much tragedy + death in one night.

Cute, fun, as cheesy as expected. Totally want to live in this holiday centric town the book takes place in! Wish I got to see more of the mains‘ relationship unfold because the book doesn‘t take you *too* deep in any direction. Brief, surface relationships throughout which didn‘t grip me but overall a fun, easy story!

So cute!!!!!! Finally some Hanukkah rom-com content. There were a few lines that repeated throughout, which honestly are probably only noticeable if you binge read. I wasn‘t clutching at my heart necessarily but did definitely enjoy getting to experience the culture & cutesy relationship. Just a fun, cheesy story — exactly what we‘re looking for during the holidays!

Contains the hottest line I‘ve ever read in a book: “I know you, and I remember what you sound like when you like something.” I loved how they repeated lines to each other; all their inside jokes like “too many wine” had me grinning. Big, fuzzy best friend rom-com energy; witty and fun; parallels a lot about self-esteem that is painfully true. Very enjoyable

“As beautiful as music is the space between notes, just as the stars are beautiful because fo the space between them, just as the sun strikes raindrops at a certain angle and throw a prison of color across the sky - so the space where I exist, and want to keep existing, and to be quiet frank I hope I die in, is exactly this middle distance: where despair struck pure otherness and created something sublime.”

Gorgeous. Ruinous. A masterpiece 💛

A true poetic masterpiece. I felt everything Theo felt: the euphoria, betrayal, pain. Beautifully written and spanning over so many years — so many pages that I feel like I‘ve grown with them. Those last few chapters highlight the beauty of life and show true character growth. “I painted this for you;” that beautiful feeling. I too felt that this art was written just for me.

Crazy!!!! *might be spoilery*

I fought with which truths to believe and how much I wanted certain plots to be true. I really liked him and his stupid, cocky nature. He so desperately longed to be wanted and loved. The ending left me feeling STOLEN

My heart! A hard book to forget about if you read it correctly. There‘s so much effort, intention, and fear. The influence of society and other people who fail Holden are the real villains; opens your eyes to how much we may be missing from the people around us. Great great story

Hard to read because of the way it‘s written. The storyline and twists were worth it, though. Gets into deep themes and helps you ask relevant questions. Love the twist and the ending.

EXACTLY WHAT WE NEEDED. Oh my gosh, I love the way Veronica Roth portrays his mind. Such a stillness, so much power in a man that wasn‘t given the chance to show it before. I also love the balance of overlap with the story and completely new perspective.

My GUILTY PLEASURE 💕 know the lines by heart. There‘s something so phenomenal about their self-discovery, their flawed nature, their dedication to something so much bigger than themselves.

THE FLUFF!!! I paged through their FREAKING emails like a lost lover, longing and longing for something like this. I literally found myself thinking, “I hope to love someone like this one day.” Super easy read, kicks you into their minds right away and the characters were so natural. So beautifully empowering at THAT SCENE where someone opens the curtains. Diverse cast. All the good things.

I am undone. Hauntingly tragic, the air of familiarity and comfort, the stupid and ridiculous assurance that they were just beneath each other‘s grasps — always.

The ending.
The story was so real, like we were walking through their lives with them. So sad, so good.
