Crime and Poetry | Amanda Flower
From Amanda Flower who writes the national bestselling Amish Quilt Shop Mysteries as Isabella Alan comes the first in the new Magical Bookshop Mystery series. Rushing home to sit by her ailing grandmothers bedside, Violet Waverly is shocked to find Grandma Daisy the picture of perfect health. Violet doesnt need to read between the lines: her grandma wants Violet back home and working in her magical store, Charming Books. Its where the perfect book tends to fly off the shelf and pick you... Violet has every intention to hightail it back to Chicago, but then a dead man is discovered clutching a volume of Emily Dickinsons poems from Grandma Daisys shop. The victim is Benedict Raisin, who recently put Grandma Daisy in his will, making her a prime suspect. Now, with the help of a tuxedo cat named Emerson, Violet will have to find a killer to keep Grandma from getting booked for good...

Fun #cozymystery featuring an enchanted bookstore where the books find their readers, the animals “talk,” and magical waters keep a 200-year-old tree alive and communicating through books with its caretaker.

I like to break up my heavy reads with lighter stuff and this cozy mystery was fun. I listened to the #audiobook.

DivineDiana So do I! 😊 2y
BellaBookNook @DivineDiana I know some people don‘t like cozy mysteries but I love them. They don‘t require much effort and the stories although predictable, are sweet. 2y

First book finished for the #24in48. Not bad, I'm willing to give it a shot. It does have some cliched bits and a little predictable characters but the mystery was decent. All in all, a good cozy mystery and if the premise sounds interesting, pick it up. I'll be getting the next book.

Giving my eyes a rest and listening to this book for the #24in48 No since in killing my eyes early in this. Enjoying it so far. A couple of annoying things, but hoping it doesn't ruin it (mysterious past event, two handsome men, quirky grandmother, protagonist not wanting to live in hometown but drawn back... read this scenario before, hope the setting and characters counteract it)

This is the first book in a series and it involves a bookstore full of magical charms where the right book "suggests" itself to the buyer. Violet's grandmother, Daisy, owns the store and tricks Violet into coming back to town to help. What I liked about this story was that it also had some educational moments involving US history that I was not aware of. Nice blend of fun characters and story telling.

Regret not appreciating the importance of context when I studied Literature...

With the last quarter left in the #eBook, I get so excited about the reference to The Underground Railroad. So easily distracted - lol

I'm home early from work bc I'm not feeling well. So Lucy and I are outside enjoying this nice weather. I got this one in my #bookmail the other day. Excited to start something a little lighter. I haven't been reading as much lately bc I've been focused more on writing. Time to get back to it as reading is so much more enjoyable than writing.

I read this and Prose & Cons out of order because I couldn't find this one to read first and I still really enjoyed this book despite kind of knowing what was going to happen. The author does a good job of maintaining the intrigue.

Took an extra day off on this already long weekend so I could tackle a massive around-the-house to do list and then I woke up with a cold one day into my time off. So, I'm finally getting some quality time with this book because I don't feel like much else. Sara hasn't left my side. 💕 #SickDay #CozyMystery

Charming 😏 characters and village with a believable and well-thought-out mystery. I don't like mysteries that withhold key information so you can't figure it out, and this book walked the line of telling too much and not enough quite well. I'll read the next one!

Oh my gosh! What a fun book! It seems weird to say, but I really noticed how well paced it was. (Maybe because of a recent read that was much less so.) anyway, the book just flew by and I enjoyed it so much! A good cozy with a hint of romance.

Violet Waverly returns home 12 years after leaving in disgrace. She comes back to the quaint village of Cascade Springs; Charming Books, an unusual bookstore run by her grandmother; painful memories, & a dead body in her grandmother's driveway. It's a short, easy-on-the-brain read. 👍🙂
