Standing in the kitchen at Hilltop, I listen to the laughter and conversational murmur of my closest friends. #FirstLineFridays
I enjoyed this book. It wasn‘t suspenseful. It wasn‘t overly humorous. But it was just a nice easy literary fiction read. #SummerEndReadathon book #10
1). If babysitting for neighbors count I was 13. Then McDonald‘s at 16.
2). I think it depends on your definition of balance. As a teacher: nope. No balance too many useless demands of my time, that required me to bring work home. As a library support staff: yes! No work comes home. (I got fussed at for checking my email at home and responding to it 🤣. Old habits die hard)
#WONDEROUSWEDNESDAY
1). My favorite meal of the day is lunch. It‘s the one meal that I get to sit, read and enjoy my lunch. With no one trying to make conversation. 🤣
2) the Hannah Swenson series by Joanne Fluke. She includes recipes for desserts and cookies. I‘ve made some of the cookies in the past for cookie exchanges
I am not a huge romance fan. But I really enjoyed this book. Just enough magic…and humor to keep me interested. #SummerEndReadathon. Book 9
#SundayFunday.
Yep. I could use the excuse: I read to my great-nephews…or….i work in the youth area of my local library….or I am a retired teacher of little people…..and all of those are true. but honestly I sometimes just enjoy going back and revisiting books I read as a child.
It‘s an old city, and no longer in very good shape, nor is the lake beside which it has been built, but there are parts of it that are still pretty nice.

I so loved this book at a child. Actually I acted just like her. 🤣. I needed to read “a book published the year I was born” for a challenge (pop sugar challenge) I‘ve been doing with a friend. And this was the only one that appealed to me. I was so glad I read it again.

#TLT
1). Nancy Drew. (Ahhhj my love of mysteries was born here)
2). Jo March from Little Women.
3). A tie between Ramona Quimby (who I was very much like as a girl) and Hermione Granger (who I was like as a teen. Very bookish and always reading everything)
#SummerEndReadathon. Book 7
I really enjoyed this story. The struggles of the family seemed sad at first but I couldn‘t help loving how they overcame the struggles and worked hard to have a better life.
This is a prequel novella to A Good Girl‘s Guide to Murder. If I had read this one first, I PROBABLY would NOT have gone in to read the first book in the series.
The premise of the story is that a group of friends are playing a murder mystery game. While I understand it is a YA book, and a novella I felt that the plot was just not fully there. It was just about teens playing a game.

I so loved this book. And this quote from the book. I wish the journey hadn‘t ended.
It wasn‘t a suspenseful action packed book. It wasn‘t a gushy romance (there was a little spice. More like a tangy bell pepper than a jalapeño pepper ?). But such a sweet story of learning to love and to be loved in return. And a story about finding a home.
I loved this quote. It just resonated with me.
#SummerEndReadathon book 5
It‘s a leap of faith to love people and let yourself be loved. It‘s closing your eyes, stepping off a ledge into nothing, and trusting that you‘ll fly rather than fall. 😍😍😍
I was talking to my niece, who‘s going through a divorce from a man who was verbally/mentally abusive to her. Reading this today…. I had to immediately text her these words.
1). Nope. Met my now husband 39 years ago through friends. 8 years later we married (hey high school and college had to be finished. Priorities were important). 31 years after that here we are still putting up with each other 🤣
2). I haven‘t really read any books about online dating. But i don‘t read much romance.

You expect a retired elementary school teacher to choose JUST ONE PICTURE BOOK???
The napping house by Audrey wood: The repetitive storytelling (which makes it so much fun to add drama and play acting) but the illustrations. 😍😍😍
Love you forever by Robert Munsch (always makes me cry. It was the first book I read to my son. He was 1 day old).
There‘s a monster at the end of this book. (Read to every child in my family)
#SUNDAYFUNDAY
Finished this book last week as well. Love cozy mysteries. My all time favorite genre
#SummerEndReadathon book 4
I really enjoyed this young adult book. While not as suspenseful as others in this genre (as it was written for teens) I found it really well written. I will be reading more in the series
Book 2 done
#SummerEndReadathon
I have always loved Steve berry‘s books. They have plenty of action but what I love most is how the author explains what points were real and what points he twisted into fiction. I always end up stopping and looking up particular facts or places or people. I always learn something from@his books

Which one do I start with? I have an hour until I need to start dinner and get ready for work. 30 minutes in each? 🤣🤣🤣
My current book (wellll one of the three that I am currently reading). Squeezing in some reading on “national read a book day”. And my dog is not a fan of it. (Mainly because I am using him as a book prop 🤣). What are you reading tonight?
