Rainy day means a dark tale before work. Very ready for the weekend. 🖤🖤
I would recommend these stories to just about everyone considering that most of these stories have a PG rating in the horror genre.

Current autumn spooky reads.
By the way: do Americans go trick or treating and celebrate Halloween today, the Saturday before, because "it's really not so convenient on a school night" or is this just an English thing?

Ok so im not gonna lie, when you posted this the other day @bridge12 i was secretly hoping it was for me just because of the paper! 😂 Now thats its here, im so glad its for me because im sooo excited for this book!! Thank you so much Bridget! I dont have it and ive never read it! You nailed it! Thank you again! 😊
Pulled into reading some short stories by Shirley Jackson!! “Paranoia” is the current short story being emailed in installments by http://theseasonofstories.com . I looked into my *The Lottery* to see if it was in there, but it is not. It‘s in the tagged book (*Dark Tales*). Jackson is perfect atmospheric reading for today‘s overcast weather with rain expected later on!
A collection of Jackson‘s short stories. Some were really great while others were rather lacklustre. I don‘t know if I would call them “dark” to be honest. Her writing is good but I don‘t think any of these stories will stay with me like “The Lottery” or “We Have Always Lived in the Castle” have. I am not discouraged from reading more but wouldn‘t probably recommend this one to people.
Poor nutritional choices today but nice quiet break time. 🍫📘🖤
My #Halloweengoespostal is opened and I have flown to New Orleans for Halloween/Birthday and how lucky am I that @DeeLew my #diadelosmuertos twin got my name. Dee I am in awe of this box- I did not have the books, the socks, the bookmark or this tote and my husband has no idea how you selected items I did not have but he may be calling on you for tips! Absolute perfection in every way- thank you so very much!❤️❤️👻👻💀💀⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My latest book purchase because there is no such thing as having too much Shirley Jackson in your life. Plus, this edition has a foreword by Ottessa Moshfegh.
Also these new overlays from Litsy are so much fun to play with. Especially when you‘re procrastinating.
I didn't know this book existed, although I've read almost all of the stories on it. Here's a link to the forward by an author who also writes about characters who have their own perception of reality!
Big fan of this collection. I'd previously read 'We Have Always Lived In The Castle' but for short stories just, like most people who went to school, 'The Lottery' this collection cements for me that Jackson is an exceptional short story writer. She paces things brilliantly and so many endings land like a gut punch. It's also fun to look back and see how early the ending was being hinted at. Recommend!
Getting a few more short stories in. I feel the best way to describe the effect of Jackson's prose and plotting is that it is the closest I have come to feeling winded by reading by the time you reach the end of a story!
