Excited for this juicy new novel by a talent of woman-centered creature horror! Vancouver Island setting & her use of dark legends also intrigue me. #horror #myth #womeninhorror #Candianauthors #TeamSlaughter @Clwojick

Horror author & fellow SRP writing teacher Jae Mazer is clever, generous & gifted. Her “Crone,” woman-centered creature horror, recently won an indie book award & her new novel drops this month! #strongwomen #womeninhorror #creaturehorror #awardwinning #ChillingPhotoChallenge #TeamSlaughter with @Clwojick

Great read for Women in Horror Month! Taught “The Possibility of Evil” in my Crafting Strong Women workshop yesterday and was reminded, once agin, of Jackson‘s twisted genius! #shortstories #5stars #womeninhorror

Litsy, I have a request!

Can you share your favorite female or LGBTQA horror writers? I love this genre but I‘m dreading reading horror written from a perspective where women are victim or exploit right now. POC prominence would also be amazing. I found an awesome list to get started but would love to hear faves!

Guildedearlobe My favorites are Mira Grant, Tananarive Due, and Lauren Beukes. Also, DJ Goodman writes in a wide range of genres, she‘s currently trying to get the rights back to her books. The original publisher was bought out but a group that also publishes Alt right stuff. (edited) 1y
SkeletonKey @Guildedearlobe - Thanks! And wow- that would make me extremely unhappy too. (edited) 1y
Bklover I want to see your responses too! 1y

SkeletonKey @Bklover - 🤩 Yay! 1y
Broke_Girl_Reads I haven‘t read her because I‘m too much of a scaredy cat, but pretty much every reviewer I admire has recommended Carmen Maria Machado 1y
SkeletonKey @Broke_Girl_Reads - Oooh, I‘ve been meaning to read that one too! 1y
kalinichta While I haven't read them, so I can't vouch for quality, Laurell K. Hamilton and Poppy Z. Brite/Billy Martin were popular when I was a gothling. 1y
SkeletonKey @kalinichta - Billy is a favorite!! Hamilton not so much any more but I did like the first few Anita Blake books 🙂 Thanks for the reminder. 1y

Twisted Reveries | Meg Hafdahl

Pickpick

If you love a menacing force in a creepy small town, & strong female characters, then travel to Willoughby with Meg Hafdahl. Full disclosure: I met Meg on an anthology project, but she can really create a small-town scare. (And has a killer raven tattoo.) #creepy #womeninhorror

My Sunday brunch—blueberry coffee frappe and a cream cheese salami bagel, courtesy of Morning Jump Coffee in Fayetteville—nicely compliments this new ebook that I'm only going to read during the daylight hours. #breakfastandabook #horrorjunkie #womeninhorror
