1. I found this bookish throw at Barnes & Noble last Sunday & since I had a $15 credit, I treated myself to cozy joy!📚💛

2. 32 hours at a dojo with my executive team wasn‘t always relaxing, but it was a good reset & had many joyful moments.🍵💚

3. I got two #ARCs from NetGalley this week that brought me joy. One for a favorite series & I don‘t ⬇️

Hey, it‘s still Friday & I‘m posting my #5JoysFriday list! That‘s a win!🏆

1. Went to my 4th Silent Book Club last night & even if we got rained out of our usual outdoor seating, it was joyful to read with other book lovers.📚💛

2. Organic Pickle Dip & Dressing from Whole Foods gives my mouth joy! 😋🥒

3. This toasted marshmallow Greek yogurt is sweet & joyful & great with slightly tart fruit!🫐🍓

4. I really needed my quarterly Conscious ⬇️

A day late for my #5JoysFriday post due to a very busy end to an already busy week, but there was joy:

1. I‘m irrationally obsessed with both the trout print & pigeon sticker from (my favorite) Blue House Mail Club. Joyful mail!💙💌💙

2. The bun is a bit smashed but this was a delicious burger & fries enjoyed with a balcony sunset view (see my “gloaming” haiku a few posts back for the view.💛😋

3. Hearty breakfast with a view before starting ⬇️

Just a day late with my #5JoysFriday post, so that‘s an improvement, right?!

1. This gorgeous green bouquet my friend put together as a belated birthday gift.💐💚

2. The view from my skylight just after a morning thunderstorm always brings me joy.🌩️☔️💜

3. Stopped for my favorite chicken salad salad for lunch. The lime cilantro dressing is joy in my mouth!😋

4. Loco Moco for breakfast is always joyful, even if it looks like a hot mess!😋 ⬇️

Honestly, it was kind of a crap week & I‘ve just been in avoidance of much this weekend so I‘m a couple days late on my #5JoysFriday post & most life stuff. There was some joy this week though so here goes:

1. Bag of rambutan I‘ve been enjoying this week.😋
2. Went out to dinner with an old work colleague & a new one she wanted to connect me with. The paella🥘& dip spread were delicious & joyful.
3. Lilikoi breakfast bowl was fresh & joyful.💛

A day late on my #5JoysFriday post but the work week was crazy & I had 3 days of peopling ending in a large 1.5 days HR conference. Last night I just crashed & slept, so here we go.

1-2. Fall themed snacks not involving pumpkin spice bring me joy. Both the Brown Butter Sage & Stuffing Popcorn from Target are joyfully addicting & apple cider & Starbucks apple crisp oatmilk latte make me happy.

2. I used Barnes & Noble GC & rewards points to ⬇️

While I was not excited about a certain birthday this week, I did find joy, especially in the past 2 days which I took off & outside a trip to the DMV to renew my license I just did only things I wanted to do which involved food, books & reading books while eating food.

1. These moth earring I got last weekend at the monthly makers market are joyful.🩶

2. A birthday poke bowl lunch

3. After the DMV I treated myself to breakfast & finished ⬇️

A bit late with my #5JoysFriday post 💛 but yesterday went really long for me & I crashed early last night, so here we go:

1. The cutest little ghost earrings with 🌺 It gives me joy to buy from local crafters.💛

2. Went to a conference & dessert was warm cinnamon-banana bread pudding. Mouth joy! 😋💛

3. Treated myself to joyful new fall magazines.🍂🧡

4. Mango-Kumquat tea with mango bursting boba.😋🧋💛

1. The fact that it is Aloha Friday brings me joy! 🌺

2. I had my two favorite poke bowls for lunch this week. Comfort food joy. 😋💛

3. These black bean mochi crackers have become a favorite snack—savory umami joy.😋

4. These dill pickle peanuts are addicting—tangy mouth joy!

5. I love Uzma Jalaluddin‘s Muslim retellings of Pride and Prejudice & other classics &⬇️

A day late for #5JoysFriday & another not great week but here goes…

1 -2. Sunset out the airplane window brings me joy, plus getting upgraded & uninterrupted reading time. Probably my most joyful moment on the plane was it was about 30 min delayed leaving Hilo & the pilot got on the radio & apologized and said “Folks, we‘re going to fly it like we stole it and get you there as soon as possible.” It cracked me up & laughter is joy!🤣💛

Woot! Got my #5JoysFriday posted on Friday so much better than last week. This one is mostly food again, but week take joy where we find it! 💛💛💛

1.Last Saturday I went to the makers market & my favorite Laotian/ Peruvian food truck was there & I got my favorite plate the Peruvian Pesto Paste with Lemongrass Short Ribs & Potatoes. So joyful! 😋

2. My power went out Monday afternoon & rather that sit & sweat & stress, I took myself out for ⬇️

A day late for #5JoysFriday & it was kind of a sucky week to be honest, but still there was joy. 💛

1. I worked a partial day Monday but it was from the coffeeshop so it was joyful that Friday came sooner. 💛💛💛

2. I don‘t like regular Oreos but these 🍋 ones give my mouth joy.😋

3. Last weekend I got Lamb Bhuna & garlic naan from a favorite Indian place & it gave me several days of joyful eating.😋

4. I caved at B&N last Friday & bought ⬇️

My #5JoysFriday list this week. TBH it wasn‘t a great week overall again & some of my joys may look familiar as I haven‘t had much chance to vary where my simple joys come from.🤷🏻‍♀️

1. I took a wellness day today & have Monday off for Labor Day, so it‘s a much needed 4-day weekend.🗓️

2. I made today peaceful overall-staying off of the news & social media, getting my haircut, eating what I wanted & doing what I wanted, including a nap. 💛

The week was a total blur as they are when I‘m prepping & presenting for a board meeting which I “get” to do 3 times a year. Still, there were some joyful moments for my day-late #5JoysFriday post.

1. The sunrises from my planes this week. If you look closely at the bottom photo, you can see Waikiki to Diamond head. Scenery joy! 🖼️

2. Also day trip related, neighbor island upgrades always give me joy & I had 3 of 4 segments this week.

1. The view from my hotel in Hilo never fails to bring me zen & joy.🙏🏼💛

2. My free “welcome” drink in the hotel bar labeled a “Paradise Punch”—it was fruity, refreshing & joyful.🍹

3. The mushroom-bacon burger with crispy fries that I had for dinner in the hotel bar was cooked perfectly, delicious & joyful.🍔😋

4. Vanilla ice cream with warm fudge sauce for dessert at one of my ⬇️

My late #5JoysFriday post. July-August is filled with meetings, trips to Hilo & stress, but there are still small joys:💛

1. Pringles Mingles Dill Pickle & Ranch crisps are my newest pickle 🥒obsession. Lots of mouth joy!😋

2. The Blackened Ahi Cesar Salad I had for lunch at a meeting last week was so ono-super fresh & full of joyful flavor!🥗💚

3. Out of my 4 Hilo flight segments this week, I got upgrades on 3 ✈️🩵 plus extra reading time.

Very late on my #5JoysFriday post & haven‘t been around the last couple of days. Catching up on sleep & went to a funeral & gathering for a friend‘s mom yesterday, then came home & slept, but better late than never.

1. That the tsunami warning ended with minimal issues or damages to the islands. We got lucky again.💙

2. Was almost too busy & stressed to go to an HR Director roundtable Thursday but ended up glad I did both for the discussion ⬇️

It‘s still Friday & I actually finished work by 5 PM tonight which is much better than last Friday. Anyway it was a week & I mostly worked, but here‘s my #5JoysFriday list:

1. That it‘s FINALLY Friday gives me much joy!💛

2. I had my favorite poke bowl today as a reward for a hard week—instant joy! 💛

3. I ordered in a bowl of Zippy‘s chili & rice—joyful comfort food was needed.😋💛

4. I love fruity tea drinks & this one with butterfly pea ⬇️

It‘s still Friday which has been a bit unending & it wasn‘t the best of weeks, still there were joys for #5JoysFriday

1. I did manage to squeeze in my favorite poke bowl for lunch today & got enough points for the cute thermal bag you can barely see behind it. Both gave me joy.🐟💛

2. I don‘t know why it took me so long to watch the Gilded Age but it‘s giving me binge-joy.💛📺

3. When I was at my indie bookstore a couple weeks ago I bought ⬇️

A day late with my #5JoysFriday post as it was a busy work week.

1. Had gorgeous morning views of Oahu we took off for Hilo from my upgraded window seat—also a joy. ⛅️💙

2. These 2 Saffron Finches chirping away at each other at the Hilo Starbucks drive-thru. Used the Merlin app to identify them before I saw them.🐦joys💛

3. Wanted to spark food joy in the office & found a little bakery cafe in Hilo that made these little filled puffs.😋💛

1. Hanging out with my sisters & the rest of my family over this past weekend, represented by the daily ice coffee at her house.

2. I got upgraded for both segments between PDX & HNL & being in a bigger seat with free food & drinks is very joyful, as was watching a couple of good/interesting movies on the way back.

I‘m late to the #5JoysFriday party once again. It‘s Saturday night in Oregon & family time won out, so here goes:

1. I had a 4 hour lay over in PDX on the way to Boise & I treated myself to a joyful breakfast (Quiche Lorraine & a mimosa) before getting Stumptown coffee & relaxing in the Alaska lounge & ⬇️

2. This joyful view of Mount Hood flying into PDX yesterday—I wrote a haiku about it today(next post down).

I‘m really late to my own #5JoysFriday this week & a lot of life stuff. I‘m gearing up to travel to Boise for an industry roundtable & stopping in Oregon to visit family for a couple of days after. Still there were joys…

1. It‘s been a while since I had the joy of a new pickle flavor thing but these Doritos are the right amount of tangy.🤤

2. Joy of a haircut & highlights last week & a dinner reading at Barnes & Noble with quiche & ice tea.✂️

1. Upgrade back from Hilo because of the extra room, drink & gorgeous blue skies I got to see out my window. I wrote a #HaikuADay about it.???

2. 3 Desserts that gave me joy: Banana Olive Oil Cake w vanilla bean ice cream, Coconut Cake, Raspberry Almond Tart All joyfully good!??

3. 2 joyful lunches: Japanese bento? for with tempura, poke & fried tofu & THE BEST Bánh mì (also a haiku)??

I‘m late to the #5JoysFriday party again. It‘s been another crazy work week but I‘m optimistic next will be a bit less insane. Anyway, here goes:

1. Beautiful sunset views of Mauna Kea out my plane window that I wrote a haiku about & getting upgraded both ways on the flight.??

Better late than never for my #5JoysFriday post for a short week than nonetheless felt unending. Here are my joyful moments.

1. I love flying into the different islands—this is Kauai & seeing the beauty will never cease to be joyful.💙

2. In my neighbor is Da Painted Tree—a tall stump that the owners paint seasonally for holiday & such. It got knocked down somehow in January & I was afraid it was done for but this week it popped up again ⬇️

2 days late with my #5JoysFriday list. I confess that after running my errands yesterday, I mostly slept the day away recovering from a busy week which is why:

1. I‘m joyful it‘s a 3-day weekend because I need the extra day for rest & to gear up for next week which will be equally long & crazy with day trips to Kauai & Hilo.

2. I will never not get joy from seeing blue skies, clouds & other sights out the window when flying neighbor island.

Well, it‘s still Friday here & I‘m getting my #5JoysFriday post up. It was a long week so I had to go more basic for my list because my stuffy head & cough have not been that joyful, so here goes!

1. When you can taste much & need to clear the sinuses, brothy noodle soups are the best. Heck they give me joy any time.🍜😋

2. I had a perfect poke bowl for lunch today & I left my house to pick it up & could taste it! 😋Joy!

1. My favorite food truck was finally back at the maker‘s market last weekend. I can‘t help but keep ordering their Peruvian Pesto Pasta w/Lemongrass Shortribs and Huancaina Potatoes. I‘m missing it already. Total mouth & stomach joy! 😋

2. Got upgraded both ways on my Hilo flight this week. Nothing matches a dragonfruit hard cider for joyful refreshment on the way home.

3. This fun regency romance let me ⬇️

It‘s still Friday here & so my #5JoysFriday post is actually on time this week.

1. I made 3 day trips this week & while I‘m exhausted, I get great joy from the beautiful island views.💙🌤️

2-3. I got joy from the most blueberry-filled scone, a veggie eggs Benedict & a fresh Vietnamese shrimp salad. All of it gave my tastebuds joy.😋

4. A lychee-mango lemonade with mango bursting boba was very joyful.🍋🍋🧋

As has become a habit lately, I‘m a day late to #5JoysFriday but here‘s my list:

1. I went to the Easter BYOB (bag) 20%-off sale at my local craft store chain to stock up on my favorite pens & other goodies including:

2. Washi tape. I get a lot of joy from washi tape & got a few cute rolls. I especially💛the books one so I got 2.

3. Thursday afternoon I went to an HR Director roundtable event where we made bamboo cups & got books & Kimbap

1. Joy while on trips to Hilo: a glimpse of Diamond Head when landing & two upgrades-one morning & one evening with time for reading of course.🛩️🩵

Favorite new print/card from Becky (it‘s so peaceful) who gives me free cards & positive vibes each time I see her. The cyanotype earrings I got from a new vendor, they are mother fern & beautiful. Joy from supporting local artists!

1. April 1 was Library Giving Day so I donated $5 to Houston Public Library & $5 to Harris County Public Library.
2. I ordered coffee from an online shop called Kitty Town Coffee. The proceeds from sales feed cats in shelters.

5. I signed up for another webinar about birds.

1. I just finished this book that was like a sweet hug. Cozy fantasy brings me joy & soothes my soul.📚

2. This poke bowl I grabbed at lunch yesterday brought me lots of mouth joy.🐟

3. I left a little early today & got my hair cut & went to Barnes & Noble where I got 2 favorite joyful magazines.

4. Candy joy with a new peeling gummy ⬇️

A crazy week for work with 2 Hilo trips & all day meetings & when I got home last night I just crashed so, it‘s a Saturday #5JoysFriday list for me.

1. Good flights, a couple of upgrades, & seat-mate readers in the wild bring me joy. I love readers! 📚💛

2. Last Saturday on my field trip, a favorite Indian restaurant that was closed was reopening. 🎉 I got takeout & asked if they had their mango lassi & she gave me a free one & a big glass ⬇️

Today was long & jam-packed but I‘m finally done working & ready to share my #5JoysFriday list for this week!💛

1. This morning as I was getting ready there was a rather loud “lecture” going on between 2 birds outside my bathroom window. Identifying a Red-Vented Bulbul as the lecturer with the Merlin app gave me joy!🐦

3. had grilled smoked pork belly at a brunch with vendors.

It was such a fast work-filled week, not a lot of different types of joy in my #5JoysFriday list:

1. The morning sunrise from the plane takeoff yesterday was so pretty, the bad photo doesn‘t do it justice.🌅

2. I was behind this pretty & sleepy service pup in the boarding line. While I was sad to not be seated next to her it always gives me joy to see animals on planes! 🐕 ✈️

3. I went for a walk between meetings at our corporate office ⬇️

1. I took a few PT0 days this week that were a joy even if I had to work on a project during them. ⬇️
2. It was a joy to not get work calls & work out of a coffeeshop to make it seem less work-ish & get fed & caffeinated.

3. An underrated joy is to see a book come out Tues, put a “notify me” on Libby, get the book added notification & be the first ⬇️

1. My walk-in shower was resurfaced and the missing grout from the shower bench was filled in. The leak I had came from my shower bench. The grout was missing from my shower bench but it‘s fixed now.
2. New Read Now books from St. Martin‘s Press
3. I‘m going to be doing a collaborative art project.
4. I joined a buddy read.
5. I cross stitched this Chicken on a cross stitching app called Cross Stitch World.

1. A 4-Day work week brings me joy—I needed an extra day off. 💛

2. I got this little heart-shaped hot/cold pack from a vendor at a benefits summit. The rainbow colors & “Powered By Love” message is joyful.🌈

3. My local library brings me joy when they are open until 7 PM on Thursdays & my favorite librarian gave me this cozy fantasy ARC-extra joy! 📒💛

My #5JoysFriday for this week:

1. Lunch for 1 with a book & a joyful bowl of delicious pho-noodle-y soup always brings me joy.

2-4. (2) Started up our Conscious Leadership program for 2025, led by our CEO. It gives me joy that our employee-owners (& I) can take advantage of this mindfulness training & I do find it helps with my stress when I apply the principles & techniques. (3) Coffee (in particular a cinnamon dolce latte with oatmilk & ⬇️

1. The Backstreet Boys were on the Today Show this morning. I recorded it and watched it tonight because I don‘t get up early.
2. I crocheted a rose.
3. My oracle card from my Unicorn oracle deck
4. My mom got me a stuffed animal and some chocolate for Valentine‘s Day
5. Taylor Bradshaw (an independent folk musician I listen to) set up his private discord group and I introduced myself to everyone in there.

1. Went to a workplace wellness conference yesterday & it was really informative. We did some breath work in the afternoon session & it was a good asthma breathing day for me which always gives me joy.🧘🏻‍♀️💨

2. Since I was already in town, I got my hair cut after the conference & not being “shaggy” gives me joy. ✂️

3. I stopped at Barnes & Noble after my haircut & got ⬇️

1. I bought a rope basket at Costco to put my stuffed animals in.
2. My oracle card this week from my Unicorn oracle deck.
3. I picked up my new eyeglasses today at Costco. My prescription only changed a little bit but not that much.
4. Post Malone Oreos were released this month so we bought some at Costco today. They‘re good.
5. Before my mom and I left Costco, we bought their $1.50 beef hot dog with a drink. It was good.
