that happens a lot more than i like to admit😁

CocoReads And I'm always disturbed when I go somewhere and there's not a bookshelf. 7y
Libby1 I'm like this with bookshelves and cats. I have to force myself to pay attention to the people first but my heart races a wee bit until I can get to the books and the cat! 7y

It started slow like really slow, it wasn't until the last few chapters that i started getting into the story and the ending left me intreged. I want to read the rest to know what happens but overall i didn't particularly enjoy this book. I felt that there was too much talking and waist of time before getting to the action and the plot.

I loved this book, I had watched the movie before reading this. but the universe in it is so much more than what the movie showed and the stories and character are amazing.

MrsTaffy Same here. The movie is such an inadequate representation of an amazing story. 7y
KkarenkK @MrsTaffy yes it is it was missing something or most things that were in the book. It felt like it didn't even scrap the surface of the universe 7y
Susanita I liked it too, and yes the movie is meh. 7y
See All 9 Comments
hlgreenfield I loved this series as a whole, but I did not like the last book/ending. It was very disappointing. And yeah the movie was terrible compared to the book. It felt like a totally different story, just didn't do it justice. 7y
the_hibernator I liked the first book, but the series went downhill. Felt Paolini got a bit over-confident, even cocky because of his success with the first book. 7y
hlgreenfield @the_hibernator I agree it went downhill. Not sure if it's cos he got cocky or if he set up all the plot points and then simply didn't know what to do with them. A lot of the decisions he made in further books ( especially the last one) were disappointing. 7y
DuckOfDoom i agree with @the_hibernator . I dropped the series because I could get through the third volume. But the first book was good 7y
the_hibernator @hlgreenfield @DuckOfDoom The reason I thought he got cocky is because of his use of large words where small ones might have been better, and because of the way in which he defended certain very valid criticisms of his third book. 7y
hlgreenfield @the_hibernator I didn't know about him not accepting criticisms! I definitely agree there was a lot to criticise in the later books. I didn't drop the series cos I figured might as well finish it and as a whole I still think it's a good series but yeah the later books really let down the promise of the first book. 7y

KkarenkK @Zelma Hahaha I did the same but I don't know if I should read it. It was such a good book 7y
Smrloomis Nope. I read them all and I think @Zelma has it right. I'd give the rest of them a pass personally! 7y

Zelma @KkarenkK I'm weird in that I rarely finish series or trilogies. I seem to get enough of the story and characters in the first book and am satisfied. 😜 maybe someone more helpful will chime in. 😂 7y
Zelma @Smrloomis yay. I am vindicated! 👍😆 7y
KkarenkK @Smrloomis Oh why did they become like the series that are similar, predictive or something ? 7y
mariejoechahine Same here! 😉 Read the first and didn't care enough about the characters to continue. I wouldn't continue the rest. If didnt hold your interest at first, it isn't worth it (too many other books out there 😁) 7y
annahenke I liked the second alright but hated the last one with a passion. 7y
BethFishReads I read them. Second was okay. Third made me mad. You can stop 7y
KkarenkK @mariejoechahine @annahenke @BethFishReads It's seems that it's a unanimous vote here 😁😁😁 No more reading this serie😋 I just want to know what so wrong about the last book is it like the disastrous ending of the hunger games serie ?? 7y
BethFishReads Not as bad Hunger Games, but a sudden new point of view that (1) was startling and (2) was a huge hint of the ultimate end would be. Also, just got kind of boring. 7y
mmtriemstra I loved the series but the last book killed me 😂 but if you just watch the movies it's totally off the book and they don't do justice to the series. It's really a great series but the rest of the books aren't as good as the first one 7y
KkarenkK @BethFishReads I should be glad i watched the movie instead then. 7y
ReadingEnvy I did not like books 2 and 3; thought the movies were a lot better, tightening up the plot and emo stuff. 7y
BethFishReads @mmtriemstra @KkarenkK @ReadingEnvy I saw only the first movie -- I thought it was good 7y
moranadatter I have been wondering the same thing. I read the first book and never got around to the rest. Thanks for posting this! 7y
annahenke For me, the last book took the basic theme/central message (I use that in very broad terms) message of the book and pretty much smashed it. 7y
JanuarieTimewalker13 I'm not one to finish series, but I did finish this one and Legend. I really liked Divergent, and Insurgent, Allegiant not as much, but it was my first dystopian series and I'll always love it for that reason...and because Dauntless was so crazy interesting to me! The premise really struck me. I didn't like the Divergent film, thought the book was better. 7y
CrowCAH I listened to the first book and saw the first two movies. To me it was an interesting concept, but not enough pull to keep me hooked through the rest of the series. 7y

The Host: A Novel | Stephenie Meyer
Panpan

After watching the movie i wanted to read the book since you know books are better than movies usually but it was bad. Stephenie Meyer's style is awful i really don't like her books even though the ideas behind them are good the way she write them is bad

ibreathwords I really liked the Host. It takes about 100 pages to be truly into the story, but I loved it. The movie I didn't like near as much. 8y
KkarenkK @ibreathwords I don't know about that I may give it another go but like twilight Meyer's writing style ruined the book for me from the first chapters 8y
Munshun In one of the Twilight books, Bella falls asleep from the boredom of hearing the werewolves story. If that happens to a character, imagine what could happen to the reader. 8y

After watching the book I was like maybe I should read this because the story seemed good even if the actors are awful. But after reading it I can honestly say I made a mistake. The language is poor and the writing style is just bad really really bad. How some people read this and love it is beyond me.

Bookbeez Yep! Got through the first few paragraphs and was like nope, nope, nope. 8y

The Glittering Court | Richelle Mead
post image

I would have never imagined saying this about a Richelle Mead book but this book is just offensive and objectifying. Selling women to the highest bidder and the concept of this glittering court all together is offensive. Training women to become good wives and then selling them off to rich man. I really don't know if I will keep reading if this keeps going on like this I think I will stop. Too offensive and objectifying for me.

mahasoor How disappointing! 8y
moranadatter It isn't going to get better in that respect, but, in the author's defense, it is meant to be offensive. The Glittering Court is an overt critique of the British aristocracy, which is still romanticized in so many modern novels. It's a representation of that world stripped of the titles and pretty manners that prevent people from seeing what was wrong with it. 8y
KkarenkK @kmdartist I get that I do. But the thing that bothers me the most is the way the girls present at court or going view it. They see it as something great that will lead them to power. But in reality it's the complete opposite they are taught to be good wives and in a lot of ways serve a husband that bought them like a slave. The way they talk about it with pride is what bothers me the most. 8y
moranadatter @KkarenkK Yeah, there are a lot of things about it that are super gross and hard to take. 8y
