This is sort of fun but it's pretty YA. I don't believe I will be reading the rest of the series.

I'm not ashamed to say I like #TheGlitteringCourtSeries; I'm not totally blind to its issues. I do really like this series, its premise, & how different it is in that reguard. I also feel that a better series would included more books, to combine the multiple povs in each book & go at a slower pace. There's a lot of things the author is trying to do that would play better spaced out (like her #AgeofX series)

#TheGlitteringCourtSeries 101 🤓
Didn't like book one? Keep going! Because:
1) All 3 books have a different narrator, so you get 3 different POVs. They overlap sometimes because
2) they cover the same block of time.
3) YOU HAVE TO READ ALL THREE to understand everything; the books are puzzle pieces; you need all 3 to see the finished puzzle because the narrators don't explain what they've learned at the end.

My late fur baby girl, Patchy, wondering why there are books on her shelf in her designated corner (she's even staring at the sign prooving it's her corner). I was in the middle of shifting books & that's like a bat signal for cats, amiright?
(shoutout to a fav series of mine #TheGlitteringCourtseries; don't let the finishing school & fancy dresses to catch wealthly men fool you--it's a means to get to the New World & then take back their lives)
“Adelaide catches the attention of a powerful governor. But no complication proves quite as daunting as the potential attraction simmering between Adelaide and Cedric. An attraction that, if acted on, would scandalize the Glittering Court and make them both outcasts in the wild, vastly uncharted lands...”
⭐️⭐️⭐️
Definitely not be of Richelle Mead‘s best books. The beginning of the novel was very rushed, and there definitely was not a good connection built with the protagonist right away. The idea behind having good relationships is definitely there but if that‘s the idea then why are there so many secrets?!
What a dull book!
Fortunately, I hadn‘t already bought the sequels or I would have felt obliged to end the series.
I didn‘t like anything, nor the world-building, nor the characters, nor the writing. Horrible!
2/5⭐ It wasn't terrible, but I just can't feel tension for a rich, privileged 17-year-old running away whose biggest challenge is not being able to sew. *shrug* The antagonist & religious conflict plotlines felt flat. I thought it was cheap to keep the minor characters' secrets from the reader, even when the main character learned one, in order to sell the next books. But kudos for believable friendships and romantic relationship. #bookemon
It looks like this is not a Litsy favorite, but for a random read while I was killing time, I actually really enjoyed this. A countess wanting to make a new life for herself ends up moving to a colony where she finally takes a hold of her own life- even if it wasn't what she thought she wanted. Historical, adventure, romance- nice relaxing, don't have to think too hard read.
I really loved the characters, and the different story lines are pretty cool...but I have issues with the pacing of this book. Mead seems to spend a lot of time on things that don‘t matter to the story but then breezes by large parts of the story. I‘m hoping the other two books will fill in the holes.

A special thank you to @brittanyyyjo for this special gift, the package slightly ripped had me worried. But nothing is broken or missing!

** I own the book tagged haven't read it yet
My afternoon BN book haul. Didn‘t get any of the 50% off books, but found the tagged clearance book, a star wheel notebook, plus 3 books for my #fallingforfall swap. Plus, if you bought any 3 books, you got a tote. 😀
Adelaide refuses to let people make decisions for her or plan her future. She changes her identity, effectively lowering her social class. She knows this will make her entire life harder, but she doesn‘t care. I love her willingness to try new, hard things. The world is large, settings are great, love the characterization. I‘m looking forward to the next companion book featuring Adelaide‘s friend Mira.
Kristen Sieh narrates the audio perfectly!
I‘ve seen mixed reviews for this one all over. I picked it on a whim and I‘m having a great time with it so far 🙌🏻 The audiobook narrator is wonderful! Kristen Sieh.
on the positive side...I finished a book on my TBR and don't have another series to get through.
this book should've been called "how to make Samm eye roll so many times that she goes blind."
it seemed like the author changed her mind several times as to what the plot was. the characters were all so similar that they just blended together.
Super curious about this! I've never read Richelle Mead
✨The cover of #theglitteringcourt by #richellemead is so pretty!! I hope I will enjoy the book when I get to it, but I‘ve been putting it off since I‘ve seen so many mixed reviews. If you‘ve read it, what did you think?✨
This book started off with promise, but eventually, “Adelaide‘s” true purpose began to escape the plot further and further. She escapes one arranged marriage to enter into a program where she will be “trained” to enter in a different arranged marriage in another land. She falls in love with her “contractor” and in the end, gives up her lavish lifestyle, religion, and ends up fighting for her lover (eventual husband) and his lifestyle.
Alright, so I didn't love this book. I didn't hate it either. The premise of a countess turned commoner to escape her fate was a fun idea. Especially since she gets whisked away to a developing nation/colony on a new continent. Amidst extravagant balls and finery that the Glittering Court can afford. But characterization and pacing are big problems. I read the whole book and yet I still can't give solid differences or likes between characters.
Good lord has this last bit been sort of a slog. I've only got about 40-ish pages until I'm done. Honestly if something miraculous happens it'll be the only thing to get me to read book 2. Also I've never read Richelle Mead's other works. . . Should I just try a different series? #theglitteringcourt #richellemead #almostfinished #ya #yabooks #soonontosethingnew #reading #weekendreading
Man oh man, does anyone else think this book had pacing issues? I'm interested enough to keep reading. But there's not kind of build up happening. I honestly don't know if I'll finish this series once I'm done with this book. #ya #yabooks #theglitteringcourt #richellemead #bookswithpacingissues #butiminvestedinthecharacters #maybednfseries

Just started reading this! Though it's a smidge slow right now I am curious how this pans out. I have a feeling it's going to be akin to the prince and the pauper. #TheGlitteringCourt #RichelleMead #YA #YoungAdult #yabooks #Coverporn
1. Aquarius. ♒
2. I made out through the whole crazy part of the show season at work! I had one weekend of between June and now. 😴
3. The Glittering Court. It was so stupid. So so stupid.
4. Breakfast tomorrow with my future parents-in-law (FiL is a veteran) followed by movie day with some friends.

Wasn't sure I was going to like it, but was pleasantly surprised! A little countess and the pauper, a little frontier western!
I had to quit reading. This was so unbelievably stupid. All of the characters were all one dimensional. The main girl was perfect at absolutely everything. The romance made no logical sense and was completely predictable. Honestly, it read like mediocre fanfiction. If this is the type off writing Richelle Mead delivers I have no idea why she's a best selling author. I usually try to temper my criticism with positive things, but I can't. Blech.
After a stressful weekend of hurricane watch (my dad and grandpa are safe!) I decided to unwind tonight with a mug of tea and a (hopefully) not-too-serious book. Have any of you read this one?
Going on a YA binge. Only question is which should I start with?
Happy national book lovers day!! #richellemead #theglitteringcourt #nationalbookloversday
I'm starting The Glittering Court today. I've had a copy of this for months and now that I have the sequel I think it's about time I picked this up.
This book is so much better than expected! It was so much fun. I loved it from begin till end! 😍💖
I really, really like this book so far! I am already half way and it is so entertaining. I love all those sparkles, big dresses and court affaires! 😍💖
These books were on my TBR list at the start of June! I've only read Soundless so far, but it was great! I think the Glittering Court will be next, after I finish The Raven Cycle.

For once a cover buy that I actually enjoyed the book. Also yay first post on Litsy, I'm still trying to learn everything, but I'm getting the hang of it. What's your fave cover buy??

It's a gorgeous evening here in West Texas for sitting on my swing on the deck, hanging out with the Boxers, and of course, reading. I hope your weekends are all off to a great start, too!!
Tell me this gets better... I'm starting chapter 5 and I already want to bail. I'm so disappointed because I LOVE the Vampire Academy series.
Solid meh for this book. First book I have read by this author. The plot took turns that weren't believable and I kept substituting Britain and the US colonies for the names that were given to the actual settings. I was interested enough to finish the story but doubt I will read the sequels.
I read the first 11 chapters online, bought the book, and it has been languishing on my TBR pile for ages. But that's about to change. #nextread #richellemead
I think I gave this one my harshest review to date on Goodreads. I debated even acknowledging that I had read it. 🙈I'm still feeling residual guilt over it; but cannot drum up anything nice to say. #threwitacrosstheroom #photoadaynovember16
I struggle with this book. If I were to forget the majority of the story, just go w/the romance, it is quite sweet. However, the rest of the story left me feeling...odd. I understand this is a YA book but even keeping that in mind I struggled to sync with the heroine. The language used was shocking, I get Ms. Mead may have wanted to match terms from colonizing America but I felt uncomfortable..and They were Selling girls. Prob not getting book 2
Richelle Mead is one of my favorite authors. She writes fierce females, incredibly sexy love interests, and seamless fast-paced plot lines. I'm really looking forward to reading "The Glittering Court" but I hate cliffhangers so I might have to hold off until the series is complete. ?

Anyone that's read it, how does it compare to Vampire Academy and Bloodlines?
