Excited to read this story with one of my all time faves of the #PerryRhodan series in the lead role: Gucky, der Mausbiber (literally translated to “Gucky the Mouse Beaver“, a cute and funny carrot loving mutant and feared warrior) 😍

More than 4 years since my last post, and now I'm back... Account was deactivated, but I got help from Library Thing's support to reanimate it. Thanks heaps! 😃🙏
Litsy might be small and underpopulated, but it's the only social app for book nerds without §*@/?%* influencer cancer, at least not as far as I can see, so I'll stay until the lights go out! 😎

Started this dystopian story by Ira Levin, and got sucked into it right from the start. That's the way I like it!

At this point I'm convinced the Strugatzki brothers weren't able to write something that would disappoint me. No exception here, they write about the cowardice of common people in the face of powers that count on this cowardice to be successful under the guise of a story about an invasion from Mars, and they write it pretty hilarious. Love their style! 😍

The first time in decades reading King that I'm completely underwhelmed and terribly bored by one of his books. And it hurts my little black heart to acknowledge it 😭

I hoped this one would be as good as I remembered, but I had to accept it wasn't. Some scenes were indeed very very creepy and worth my reading time, but the characters in this book are close to be #caricatures of squeaky clean good and abnormal evil, without any grey areas. At least it serves as a reminder why I stopped reading Koontz 20 years ago...

Okay... what have I just read? Felt like Franz Kafka and Robert Sheckley met and went on a bender. In a lovely pub located deep in a forest. And on the way home, they got lost and somehow wrote this story on tree barks 🤓
And I very much enjoyed the trip, it's satirical look on bureaucracy, following party lines and one's place in a bigger machinery, and the way the tone got weirder as the story moved forward.

Starting this collection of weird #shortstories. Already massive in love with the exquisitely #creepy cover art 😍

Nope. Won't click with me, and I already wasted too much time trying to force it. Can't even care to upload an image.

Just downloaded this one to my #kindle, hope it's as good as "The Stone Man" and "Physics of the Dead".

A collection of truly bizarre short stories, hit and miss style. To be honest, the cover artwork alone is worth the price 😁

Gave up on this maritime #Zombie story, it's simply as boring as watching paint on the wall dry. And it tries so hard to be "the different one", that poor book ?

Today I went out for #dinner with a friend, and our table was in the cosiest corner I've ever had in a restaurant. Complete with well filled #bookshelves and a sofa instead of chairs. Just like my grannie's kitchen 😍

Ok, I gave up. There's stupid characters, and then there's this group of utter idiots. And really bad writing 😒

42% in and the massive relieve dawns on me that the male lead protagonist is nearly as dumb as the female one. Seems Laymon writes idiots from an egalitarian angle 😁

About 30% of the book read, and it's really entertaining and in parts quiet icky, but I'd really want to grab the female main character by her neck and scream at her to STOP! BEING! SO! GODDAMNED! STUPID!! She makes my brain hurt 😫

One of the rare cases where the movie (the 1978 one) is far better than the book!

Bring it on, I can handle it 😎

Have I mentioned that I really love Jeff Strand and his sick but highly entertaining ways to suck me into his stories about serial killers, friendship, mutilated body parts, and love? Well, I have now, and "Pressure" just deepens this love of mine ?
It starts as a kind of harmless YA thriller, and develops into a creepy, (very) bloody #horror story about a deranged stalker bully from hell. Definitely not for the squeamish (kids & violence)!

I usually LOVE Stephen King's short stories, but in this case I found nearly half of them simply boring :/

I wasn't sure if I'd enjoy this book from the first two sentences, but I knew I'd wanted to know more about people who thought it to be normal to eat dogs on their balconies...

Ok, who called that rain guy? I hate it to leave the subway without an umbrella in my rucksack, just to see it's raining outside 😦

Christopher Walken reads Edgar Allan Poe's "The Raven". I hope that's all I need to say ?

Oh, there's a nice selection of Richard Laymon #ebooks for just 99 Eurocent in the Amazon store(s)! How could I resist to add one or two or three or four or... #bookaddict #horror #bargain

I really love how german publishers advertised #horror literature in the 80s. At least they had a point - I must have looked similar to this ad for Clive Barker's first Book of Blood after reading those short stories. They were my introduction to the more gory side of of the genre 😍😇

Feels like an episode of "Twilight Zone", filmed in the nearest IKEA market. A fast, fun and in parts creepy read, with some really nice interior ideas ?

Is there any broadcast in the history of radio more famous than this one about an alien invasion from mars? I doubt it.
In case there are still fans of #sciencefiction who never heard it, you can listen to it on several places on the net, and also at #spotify. Go on. It's worth an hour of your time 👽

Next time you're going to the supermarket, you'll better check if the staff is the same as every other day...
Not for the squeamish, but for lovers of a good raw steak with a side dish of entrails. Short, gory and scary, and the perfect read for dinner on the second day of October 🍴

Available to listen worlwide on #BBC's Radio4extra website. Stephen Spielberg used this story for his debut movie "Duel", and it sounds like both versions can give you goosebumps ?

Too much to do and not enough time at work, so us office workers add some manual labour at home.
Well, Sir Christopher Lee narrating Dracula should add a nice Soundtrack for my assembling 1000 of these thingamabobs. That's what #audiobooks are invented for 😁

One day left to listen to the first episode, and I notice just now that #BBC Radio4extra has this #audiobook in five parts on replay? Fine, I'll cancel all plans for this Sunday's afternoon. Top priorities and all that jazz 😎

Ooooh, just found this (unabridged) #audiobook on #Spotify. Who could possibly be a better narrator for THE classic #vampire story than the great Christopher Lee? Yeah right, nobody 😍
#horror #voiceporn

Started to read this book today, and I'm already in love with the narrator's choice of words ❤

I really love Stephen Laws' horror novels, but I'd rate this one as the weakest in his bibliography. The plot is kind of a paranormal "10 Little Indians", littered with clichés and told very straightforward and predictable.
What makes it still enjoyable is the creepy atmosphere that made my hairs stand for attention on many occasions, and the effective use of ancient #horror tropes and a pinch of gore. Like one of these old Hammer movies.

Dear Mr. Laws, I beg you to never stop writing stories that make me feel uneasy on empty, dark train stations 😘
