Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim
Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim | David Sedaris
David Sedaris plays in the snow with his sisters. He goes on vacation with his family. He gets a job selling drinks. He attends his brother's wedding. He mops his sister's floor. He gives directions to a lost traveler. He eats a hamburger. He has his blood sugar tested. It all sounds so normal, doesn't it? In his newest collection of essays, David Sedaris lifts the corner of ordinary life, revealing the absurdity teeming below its surface. His world is alive with obscure desires and hidden motives -- a world where forgiveness is automatic and an argument can be the highest form of love. Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim is another unforgettable collection from one of the wittiest and most original writers at work today.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ After recently reading a lot of books that had very serious and emotionally draining content, I thought it was time to read something fun! David Sedaris was the perfect anecdote! His writing is sharp, hilarious, and always adds in a twist of a moral to give the reader pause- for-thought. I can hardly wait to read his newest book!

rather_be_reading I love Sedaris! 4mo

Another funny collection of essays from Sedaris. My favorite was the last one where David looks at his living room through the eyes of a stranger.

There were some stories I liked more than others, but I keep coming back for more so I suppose that makes me a fan.

I love listening to him read the audiobooks.

Ruthiella His deadpan delivery is the best! 4mo

Sometimes you need old favourites when you're sick! I can't face the subway without a book, and I've loved rereading these! Sedaris is always excellent. It was especially interesting revisiting his childhood having just read Calypso, and his diaries!

"I might reinvent myself to strangers, but to this day, as far as my family is concerned, I‘m still the one most likely to set your house on fire."

Rereading David Sedaris (nonfiction) via #audio has been so fun! I loved his books before, but he's now solidified a spot among my favorite authors. He is such an amazing story teller. His last lines are always perfect.

Jayhawk_In_Texas I've seen him live twice. Both times I laughed so hard I was crying. 2y
LauraBeth I don‘t know why - but I enjoy listening to this one while at the gym 2y
kyraleseberg Naked was the first book ever that made me laugh out loud to the point I had tears streaming down my face. And I decided then to read anything the man ever writes. I'd even read his grocery list. 2y

CuriousG I love Sedaris! If you haven't already read everything written by The Blogess (Jenny Lawson), you definitely should. In my mind they are 2 disturbingly hilarious peas in a pod. Or some Douglas Copeland too..maybe Worst. Person. Ever. I would have these 3 people live in my house if I could...and I don't like anyone coming to my house 2y
CuriousG Darn autocorrect, that should say Coupland 2y
britt_brooke @CuriousG I've read Lawson's books, but not Coupland - thanks for the recommendation! 2y
CuriousG @britt_brooke Coupland goes one of two ways - bizarre, inappropriate humour, or completely devastating ugly cry snot bombs. If you're looking for the humour my personal favs are All Families Are Psychotic, and Worst. Person. Ever. 2y

• My first foray into David Sedaris and I'll definitely be reading more of his backlist! I almost had my hands on his latest book "Theft By Finding" but unfortunately it was misplaced at uni library. I'M COMING BACK FOR YOU, Sedaris! This is a great collection of tales about Sedaris's kooky and dysfunctional family. You will laugh, maybe cry, but you'll definitely have a lot of WTF thoughts! Listen if you can; he narrates wonderfully. •

Megabooks Read one more from his backlist before Theft. Theft is his diaries so it will make more sense to you if you've read Naked and/or 2y
