Not as visually appealing as the Peruvian food 😂
But we made the food for #FoodAndLit #Greenland (which should have been last month, but I was too hot to make it haha).

So here we have a fish casserole (substituting cod for halibut. Couldn‘t find it anywhere) with a hot potato salad. It was different. I kind of liked it? But probably wouldn‘t make it again 🤣

Bookwormjillk Great effort! 1w

As far as histories about fish go, this is top notch. But it‘s, well, a history about fish. This book covers the economic history of the market for cod, starting with the Basque of Spain through cod‘s depletion in our lifetime. We learn a lot about the cod itself and countless ancient and newer recipes for all things cod. Having toured the ancient Hanseatic Museum in Norway, I expected a lot more detail about the economics of cod. I just felt ⬇️

Texreader like there was more to be covered. I read this for #Greenland #foodandlit but it was barely mentioned at the beginning. @Catsandbooks 1mo
kspenmoll I admire you reading a book about fish! 🐟 even though I am so connected to water, salt or not, fish are squirmy & slimy & at times scary to me. Maybe it was all the hidden eels that found my young self- YUK- when I swam thru tons of eel grass at the CT shore! 🐍 1mo
Sace I have his history of salt sitting in my shelf and I recently ordered a copy of The Basque History of the World. 1mo

I doubt I‘ve ever tried to read six books at the same time. But here I am giving it a try! It‘s too hard to pass up a good reading challenge! And I haven‘t even started my books I‘ve picked out for #Authoramonth this month.

#campLitsy #Greenland #Peru #foodandlit #whatthedickens #klbr #doorstopkirstin

Cuilin I also sign up for too many buddy reads 🤦‍♀️ Enjoy though, they look good. 1mo

The blog I got this recipe from says it‘s a Greenlandic recipe, but didn‘t provide a whole lot of further detail. I overcooked the fish (maybe because it was also was without its skin…sorry), but the sauce and vegetables were so good. I‘ll definitely be making it again.

I‘m nowhere near finishing the book, but I hope to get through it quickly before moving on to Peru. #FoodAndLit

Texreader Looking good even if overcooked! 😋 1mo

I‘m really enjoying these novellas about the #Greenland missing persons department. I hope I can find more that have been translated to English. #FoodAndLit

Texreader I think all of them have been translated. I‘ve enjoyed them too and love that they‘re such quick reads. So far they are free with Kindle Unlimited but I‘ve only read the first three and another one out of order. 1mo

Tuukula slid a plate onto the table - fried egg with mushrooms from a glass jar, heaped on top of a piece of square toast, buttered thickly.

#FoodAndLit #Greenland was a challenge on the food side, so I decided to recreate this breakfast from the tagged book. Yummy! Probably more suitable to someone who needs to hunt outside near the Arctic Circle than someone who sits at a desk, but a nice treat on a Monday morning.

TheBookHippie Oh nice!!!! This was a difficult food month! 1mo
