My mom got me a giftcard to my fave local bookstore and I finally used it to get these two. The top one is a bookclub read for next month, but I'm excited to get to both as they've both been on my TBR for a while (the tagged one since it was announced as I follow Doughty on social media places).

RiaWritten Quite an interesting pair...haha 2d

Yes to everything Caitlin Doughty does 🙌

I‘m a big fan, and I love how she can make death into something less gross, less scary, less taboo.

Librariana She's the best, isn't she? I love her "Ask a Mortician" videos! Just watched her 3-part series on Disney and found it so interesting! 3w

I have been meaning to read something by Caitlin Doughty for years so when I found this during the Friends of the Public library bookstore sale today, I bought it and started reading it immediately. Doughty may be answering the questions she is frequently asked by children but I still managed to learn a lot from her answers while being able to chuckle about how awesome kids can be. Definitely need to read more Doughty soon.

Kalalalatja I‘m currently listening to this, and love it! It is my second Doughty, and she is just great! 3w

Getting a bit into the Christmas spirit by making Christmas decorations (Advent candles on top, calendar candle on the bottom) 🕯

And I know the book isn‘t very Christmas-y, but I love Caitlin Doughty, so it is what it is 😄

#currentlyreading

Reviewsbylola That calendar candle is amazing! Such a cool idea! 3w
julesG Love your decorations! I got a calendar candle this year. Managed to snag one at Søsterne Grenen the day they went onto the shelves. I might have done a happy dance. 3w
Kalalalatja @Reviewsbylola I don‘t understand why it isn‘t a thing in more countries! I love lighting it each evening and counting down to Christmas that way ? @julesG nice! I got a lot of my decoration accessories in Søstrene Grene as well, but there wasn‘t any candles left. Luckily, most of the Danish stores are booming with them at the moment, so it wasn‘t a big problem ? (edited) 3w

As a nurse, I‘ve seen dead bodies and spent time in the morgue, but I had no idea that there can be enough electricity stored in the muscles to cause a twitch 12 hours later. Not creepy at all. 😬

Marmie7 Same here @LauraJ I worked Hospice and we had bodies that sat for hours before funeral homes came to get them. Glad I never witnessed that! 1mo

Balibee146 A friend's mum used to work in a morgue.... She told stories about bodies that would twitch and sigh hours and hours after death.... Yikes 😱 1mo
Amiable Isn‘t that how/why wakes were instituted—to watch the body for a few days to make sure the person was really dead? I thought I remembered reading that somewhere. 1mo

I‘m a Caitlin Doughty fan and have read her other books. Even though the target audience is kids, I had to listen. Very interesting questions from kids answered truthfully and with humor. I wouldn‘t give it to a kid less than 13 years old though. 3/5👁s

Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. 5 stars!

I love Caitlin so this was a no-brainer pick up for me, but I actually had never read her stuff. Now I‘ll be ordering her other books. If you‘re fascinated by death or have some questions from your childhood that have still stuck around (for me it was the one about what happens if you die on a plane), this is one to try.

Educational and funny as a book about dead people can be. Caitlin answers common and slightly odd questions about death. It‘s a little gross but nothing too graphic.

This week I‘ve been pre planning for when my mother passes away. (It‘s not imminent, but it‘s not too far away either.) The planning has taken away some of my anxiety, but new anxiety has replaced it. Surprise! My brain hates me. I‘m taking refuge in Immersing myself in the science behind death.

First, we need to talk about how adorable this cover is! Metallic pink tongue and yellow eye looking like kitty is up to no good. Plus, I love all the cute interior illustrations.

Caitlin Doughty, a mortician, has set down all the hilarious and sometimes dark questions kids have asked her about death 💀. I loved both the questions and her answers. Fun, quirky read. #catsoflitsy #24B4Monday

I devoured this book of deliciously morbid questions way, WAY faster than your cat will eat your eyeballs after you die. Like, in one sitting. And now I really need to learn more about corpse abuse laws, because if they‘re the reason you can‘t keep your parents‘ skulls, how were Lizzie Borden‘s parents‘ skulls allowed to be removed, defleshed, and used as evidence in her murder trial? 😱

Funny and fact-filled. The reading level feels very middle grade and up, so the tinier morbid humans may need a little help when reading, but a lot of the information here was new to me so even adults will get a lot out of it.

Plus the illustrations are excellent.

This is a well written and entertaining look at death, written by a mortician and based on questions children have asked her. It‘s fun to read about the small details one doesn‘t always think about and the answer is that your cat would prefer your lips and/or fingers and toes. 3.5/5 a fun read, written in vignettes and not something I recommend reading while eating
