pickThis series continues to entertain, and be blistering about it. Phew! The tension in this book is palpable, as the two MCs circle each other and the plot develops. Smutty silly fun, yes. Well written and entertaining, also yes. Greatly enjoying this series and Anna Huang in general.
pickSome of you might remember I posted about a local bookclub that was just getting started in SA.. well this was our first book. Post Stolen from IG from one of the other ladies in our book club who makes book themed cocktails. I loved this story that is set in the world of the Ruinous Love trilogy. If you read Butcher and Blackbird, the FMC in this book was a minor character. This book is the start of a trilogy all focused on the same couple. ⬇️
so-soMust admit this was a big disappointment for me was hoping for so much more on a modern vampire retelling 😕it‘s all about personal taste isn‘t it ? And maybe I‘d hyped myself up too much 😆personally I thought the author was trying so hard to produce “literary horror “ it was just so slooooowwwwwww , couldn‘t engage with any characters & after reading the fantastic hounding this wasn‘t a patch on that !
pickA cautious pick. Read it to see what the hype was about. Good world building and the magic system. I am not a fan of a violent romance, but I could appreciate some parts of it. But there‘s a lot of ick. My other issue with this book is it‘s too damn long. Some things became a filler, some things start to go in circles, and some things stretch out when they don‘t have to. Overall it kept me reading, and I‘m glad I‘ve given it a try. TWs are many.
bailedIt was fine…and then the author used a device after which there was no chance the story was going to recover in the way it would need to in order for that choice to work. And honestly, I didn‘t see that happening. Most likely an unpopular opinion because my daughter tells me this book is super popular but I didn‘t have enough confidence in the story to keep going. My TBR is too unruly to not put this one down and move on.
I'm still wrapping my head around how good this book truly is before writing a review. For context, I read it in 6 days, 1040 pages. My daughter introduced me to Avendell art, who has created magnificent illustrations for #Alchemised
