For my #basicwitchswap @TCLinrow ?! I know the info I provided on my form isn't very useful, so I've done a bit of research/thinking and come up with the above - I hope it helps!
If you want to know what type of witch I am, I used this website: https://thoughtcatalog.com/kendra-syrdal/2018/08/types-of-witches/
An update for those wondering 😂
My aunt & I were given a ton of books on August 10th. We've gone through some of them & decided to keep some. (The ones I was excited to get were a first edition box set of the Percy Jackson books & A Discovery of Witches) She's left me in charge of getting rid of the ones we don't want. Who knew getting rid of books could be so crazy 😂 I've sold a lot of the books & traded a lot on the PaperbackSwap website.
The writing was mediocre, sometimes cheesy, and I found Matthew impossible. Are we just going to let it slide that he continuously drugs his girlfriend against her will/ without her knowledge? What? The book also could have easily done with 250 pages less, there was so much unnecessary detail & description ... But somehow, despite all its problems, the story still pulled me in. It's a great premise, the execution just leaves much to be desired.
I have just finished the first book.. . I liked it a lot despite of its length... I loved the story, the romance, the characters and all the scientific details... It had all to be a wonderful novel... Great reading! I will take a break until starting the second book and I will watch the TV series to see if it is as good as the book!
This somehow made me think of the Bad Wolf Speech from Doctor Who:
“I am the Bad Wolf. I create myself. I take the words, I scatter them in time and space. A message to lead myself here. [...] I want you safe, my Doctor. Protected from the false god. [...] You are tiny. I can see the whole of time and space. Every single atom of your existence, and I divide them. [...] Everything must come to dust. All things. Everything dies. The Time War ends.“
Hello my pretties! Another reminder to get signed up for this witchy swap!! I‘m super excited for Halloween! This time of the year is my favorite !! Sweaters! Scarves ! Bonfires! Celebrate with us !
Did I mention that procrastination is one of my biggest talents? Started reading this yesterday to distract myself from the thesis. Not sure what to think of it yet, but it's completely different from what I'm reading for academia, so hopefully, it's just what I need right now.
[Currently listening to: Get Better by Nothing but Thieves]
Oh I hated this book. I‘m 200 pages in and I can‘t keep going. NOTHING happens. Nothing. The romance storyline is forced and doesn‘t feel remotely organic. Neither MC is very well-developed and that‘s probably a major reason why. The author‘s take on supernatural beings is interesting, too bad she didn‘t actually have much of a plot to develop around it.
Not sure if it counts as a #SeriesRead if I bailed 😂 @TheSpineView
Well, when #bookly puts it like that, I don‘t feel so bad! I think I‘ve read more books since I got the app than I have in previous years at #camp. Let‘s see if I keep this ball rolling! (Unfortunately, I‘m out of books to read at camp rn, so I‘ll have to remember to grab some this weekend!)
So this isn‘t my normal genre. I really love psychological thrillers! I watched a couple episodes of the show, found out it was based on a book and kept it on my TBR list for awhile. I grabbed it at the bookstore this weekend. To my surprise, I really enjoyed this book! So much so I‘m picking up the second book in the series.
I finished my reread! The book was how I‘d mostly remembered, and I still had the same problems. The reason I like this book is because of the story, not because of the characters. Diana annoys me and is super melodramatic sometimes. Matthew is super controlling and pisses me off. BUT I love Marcus and the aunts and the magic and the alchemy, history, philosophy.... I really like what AMC is doing with the show too! Would 100% recommend.
On Goodreads, I found a list of books with witches in them. This is only a couple of them. This isn‘t the whole list. I haven‘t read these books. I‘ve heard about A Discovery Of Witches and I know that it‘s a tv series but I don‘t know much about it other than the fact that it has witches.
I love this little app! 😊 Only a little over 100 pages left to my reread, and then onto One of Us is Lying, which I am hella looking forward too. Unfortunately, because this is camp, I can only focus on one book at a time, and I haven‘t had time recently to listen to Pride and Prejudice. Oh well, only three weeks left!
This definitely felt Twilight inspired, but this one is more mature and the world created is far more detailed. It also has a bit of science talk, which I enjoyed and while there were a few things that I didn't like, I was unable to put this book down until I finally finished it at 4 am. 📒📚📓📚📒
Just finished reading. I must say the writing was a bit repetitive and it seem to only focus on the vampire and how he was so protective over Diana. There was a lot of ruckus , but nothing really happened? I mean I‘m glad I finished it but did I love it? No, not really. 4 ⭐️ ‘s
I've been recovering from surgery this week and have actually felt too tired mostly to even read. In between naps I've finally started watching A Discovery of Witches, which has been on my watch list for ages! I haven't read the books, although @Kimberlone has read the first. So far a bit dull, but Matthew Goode is enough to keep me watching till it picks up 😍 Should I read the series? #witches #adaptations #surgery #recovery
Today‘s #colormepretty is #blue!
I‘ve already talked about ACOTAR, Harry Potter, Eragon, and Carry On.
Before the Fall I read because of My Favorite Murder and I really liked it.
The Lovely Bones was a good book until the end and then it was weird.
If I Stay I loved (hello cellos!) but I‘ve never seen the movie. I met the author and she‘s lovely too.
Prisoner of Cell 25 was interesting but I‘m not sure if I‘ll finish that series...
At first, listening to this book I was bored with the world building, but before I knew it I was on chapter 5 and was wholely hooked into the story between Diana, Matthew and Ash Mole! It's 24 hrs of discovering the mysteries of Diana and her parents' deaths. Highly recommended!
Between a soso and a pan. I did enjoy the plot and world building in this but the writing made it absolutely impossible, it was so cliche, particularly the romance sections but just all of it, there wasn‘t a character that felt believable. It‘s a pity cause I like the concept and would like to finish the series but I don‘t know if I can do any more of Harkness‘ prose.
My aunt and I got to see her tonight! The talk was wonderful. Unfortunately the signing line was super slow and long so we left given that we both have to work tomorrow and still had over an hour drive to get home. Fun experience though in an amazing independent bookstore!
Can reading be like this every day please? Honestly really not enjoying this book but the setting is so perfect for reading I‘m speeding through it.
Back to real life and my ‘proper‘ start of the #bookfitnesschallenge tonight 😐😐😐 how we doing #goteam ?? @TheEllieMo @Megabooks @RachelO @KathyWheeler @cewilf @cobwebmoth @Trashcanman @wanderinglynn
I can never say no to library books...especially where there are some new books that I've been eyeing at the bookstores! ...Even when my own pile of new & old #TBR books are giving me side eyes at home! 🤣🤣 #BookwormsProblem

Sorry I didn‘t get a full picture posted before now. I love my #summersantagoespostal package. I have read the tagged book but it was years ago when it first came out so now I have a chance to read it again. The other two I don‘t have and look fun. Plus now I have my ring for the water park. If the flood waters go down. But it does make me want to tube down the the green breaks. Seriously. I love and will use it all. Thank you so much.
240 pages in and nothing interesting has happen yet. 😒
For lovers of fantasy and history alike. Deborah Harkness shows us a world where witches, vampires, and daemons walk amongst us. Despite being a witch, the protagonist strives to be “normal“ and wants to focus on her career, until a mysterious, magical manuscript places her in the middle of a struggle between the three kinds of creatures. I couldn't put it down. Well written with lovable characters.
Ok I‘ve just finished the Tv series! Who wants to discuss below with me? I thought they hit high points well but didn‘t understand why they changed some of the smaller points 🤷♀️
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I did not expect to love this, so I‘m glad I took a chance. The closest thing I can think to describe it is #Outlander (but not lol) with a love story similar to #Twilight. It is witches, vampires, & a tiny bit demons...but not in an overpowering way. I also watched the first season of the show....it is followed very closely, yet it is its own version at the same time. I loved them both and look forward to book 2.
You know that one book that you turn to when everything in life turns upside down and inside out?
Yeah, I am there. I need comfort and predictability.
After 10 days of high fever my daughter caught a smaller less scary bug (just a cough and a low grade fever). But Tomorrow will be her first day back at school since the 18th..... And now my mom is in the hospital. Yesterday she had two blood transfusions and today is scheduled for surgery. 😔
The winner of my next book is: A Discovery of Witches. I‘ve seen this on book lists many times, & I‘ve been recommended it a few times (based on my love for #Outlander). It has been a book I‘ve ignored because I don‘t normally do this kind of fantasy or witches. I heard there was a tv show, so I watched the first episode today & got started on the book. Umm...I‘m hooked. I‘m going to read the book before watching anymore. #LibraryBook
