This book was different then I was thinking it would be. It took me a couple chapters or so to really get into reading it, but once it got interesting to me I couldn‘t put the book down. It was creepy, weird, cool and I absolutely loved it. The were a few times I was extremely shocked at the language the character used, but I can see why it was used. It was extremely creative. I got some major the shining vibes from the novel and I loved it.

The story sounded promising from the synopsis, but it fell flat. I couldn‘t understand half of what I read. I think the bones of the story are there it was just written in a really strange way. The author jumped around from one thing to another and then the ending was just really really anticlimactic. Parts of the book were really fantastic, but other parts were just blah. All in all I guess it just wasn‘t the type of story I could enjoy

The synopsis of this book sounded absolutely amazing, and then I get into the book. It would have been a wonderful story except for the fact that the story was lost in politics right from the beginning. There‘s also a host of trigger warnings that should have been applied to the book, but weren‘t. Trigger warnings include but are not limited too racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, child abuse, terrorism/hate crimes. I had to DNF this book

I wound up loving this book. It was a little slow to start for me, but I wound up not wanting to put the phone down when I was reading it. I honestly didn‘t think it was all that scary but there were some parts that definitely creeped me out, just a little too much. That said, I believe this would be a perfect book for someone whose a beginner to the horror genre. It was such a good read, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a good read

Well that was an interesting read. Some of them were just flat out weird but I did very much enjoy a few of them. They‘re perfect short stories if you‘re looking for a fast read. I really enjoyed the coldest girl in coldtown and a couple of the others. I didn‘t really find much any of them scary but they were cute little reads.

Oh wow, such a good read. I cant wait to see what happens in the second book. Maggie blackthorne is a badass cop and I loved every minute of this book. I could kinda follow the clues about halfway in and even figured out who did it before that part was revealed but it's still such a good read. If you like murder mysteries then you'll love this one for sure.

Ummmmm what in the devil did I just finish reading?!? I'm not even sure how to take the last few chapters. My book has tags and annotations all through it. I don't even know if I can give a proper review except to say that it was a good book but it definitely messed with my mind. It was definitely a book that fucks with your mind. If that's the kind of stiff you enjoy you should pick the book up!

Holy Jesus where to start..... omg this book. This is the first ever book I‘ve read and annotated while reading and OMFG I have no words for how good this book is. I was hooked right away and if you saw my annotations you‘d think I was insane with the way my thoughts were going. I‘m seriously hoping that with what happened at the end of book one gets resolved fast in book two when she releases it. I can‘t wait for the second book.

The dual storylines in this book seem to go together fantastically. I loved this book and didn‘t want to put it down. The author has such a way with words, it was almost as if I was present in the Frick mansion at sometimes during the novel. I would suggest anyone that loves historical fiction to pick this one up. It was such a lovely surprise when I found I enjoyed the book. 5 stars

I did like the book even though I could see after awhile where it was going and what the twist was. The ending was just kinda there even though I knew it was coming. I give it 3 stars cause it is a good book and I'd read it again but idk if I would put it on my favorites list

The book was enough to hold my attention but not enough to where I would really enjoy it. Also the ending was really weird and the author jumped point of views too much for anything to be cohesive enough for me to not want to put the book down

Some people say that there are grammar and spelling mistakes. I think it‘s on purpose. The building was opened in 1910 as a two story wood frame hospital. The monstrous five story building that stands there today opened in the midst of the tuberculous epidemic in 1926. This book reads exactly like the spooked documentary by the same authors that wrote the book. Anyone interested should pick this up to learn about this dark time in history.

This book is just so so creepy. I really liked it. I cant wait to read the rest of the series because i would love to know more about Nurse Ash and the Warden. I would also like to know more about what happened to the boys father at Brookline. The book didnt give too much information, but it was just enough to get you interested in whats going on.

I will have to come back and update somethings when im done but im still reading it. Im not sure how someone can read this book super super fast, like i normally do. Don't get me wrong i do like the book, but its driving me crazy with all this switching back and forth nonsense. It has a really good story line though, its just super hard to understand. If you want to read it, prepare to take some time to get it done.

Hie to the Hunters | Jesse Stuart

Jud aimed at the boy who was doing the pounding, puckered up his lips while the small boy looked on. Squirt!
"Oh! Oh!" Screamed the twin. "Fire in my eye!"
While he covered his burning eye with both hands and danced up and down on the street, kid puckered his lips and aimed again.
Squirt!
Then this twin jumped two feet high and clicked his heels together twice before he came down to the street with a hand over each eye. "im blind as a bat, dee"
