I just found this Libby feature by accident! I listen at 2-2.5 speed and sometimes math is hard for me. 🤣. Now I know that I really have 1 hour and 23 minutes left even though it says 3 hours 27 minutes.

I finally discovered Libby! I won‘t check out physical copies of books from the library anymore (there‘s a story behind that), so I was super excited when I found I could sign up online for the “ebook library card.” But now I want to check out books just because I can, but I‘m not a fast reader so I‘m fighting the urge to check books out.

I gagged! I did try again, probably a year after, to check out a book, but I couldn‘t get the image of the booger out of my head. So, I stuck to buying and using my Kindle. (edited) 5y

Is anyone else having this issue with #libby? This is happening to me all the time, the book will stop playing on its own or won‘t start and then I get this exclamation point and have to restart #libby multiple times to get it to play again. Is it just my stupid phone or does this happen to everyone?

RadicalReader I use Libby and love I enjoy having a huge selection of books to enjoy while on the go and being able to enjoy the wonderful aspects of having books arrive on my device without me constantly having to check for their availability always love a present of highly anticipated books from myself to myself 6y

Just found a Libby flaw!! It won‘t let me place holds on the same book from different libraries in the app. So for instance, I had a hold on Educated from NYPL but I wanted to see if the BECPL wait was shorter (it is). When I searched in BECPL, it came up with my NYPL hold. I went to the BECPL site and placed a hold that way it now they all show up in Libby, but I couldn‘t do it in app. Bad Libby!!

Lauram I still use Overdrive when placing holds. The company has assured me that they‘re working out the kinks for holds and accessing my wish list. 6y

Daisey Just a heads up, the tags in Libby also do not sync between devices. I did some searching on my iPad, although I usually listen on my phone, and those tags made on my iPad did not transfer to my phone. I do like the audio aspects and the ability to switch between library cards on Libby much better than Overdrive. 6y

SassyBookworm Ohhh I LOVE my Libby!!! I use my ‘tags‘ for my ‘to read/wish‘ list, liked 👍🏼 books and disliked 👎🏼 books! Overdrive for me was so complicated. Libby also has new tutorials on how it works if you need help. But I agree your wish list I don‘t think will transfer 😔 which totally sucks. But I hope you will come to love Libby I know I sure do! 6y

MarriedtoMrT I think Overdrive‘s in charge of when they‘ll decommission OMC but until Libby can support all of Overdrive‘s formats (like video) you‘re probably safe. Your wishlist won‘t show up in Libby but it should still be on web-based Overdrive. As an original Libby skeptic, I love it now and couldn‘t go back. (Except that it‘s been acting funny the last few days. 🤷🏻‍♀️) 6y

MarriedtoMrT @jpmcwisemorgan Libby is an app created by Overdrive to eventually replace the Overdrive Media Console app. Web-based Overdrive is still the same (though constantly improving). Libby is just a lot easier for new users. You can browse and download in-app with just a few clicks instead of getting launched to the Overdrive website, which is what the OMC app does. 6y

Daisey The audio capabilities of Libby are much better! It does annoy me that my tags (specifically TBR in place of wish list) do not sync across devices. (edited) 6y

Amie The process of checking out books is more streamlined in Libby. Libby is also more convenient if you use more than one library card to check out ebooks because it lists all your checkouts and holds for all library cards without having to switch back and forth. Libby still has a few bugs that need to be worked out though, but I generally prefer it over Overdrive. 6y

GirlMeetsBook I actually like using overdrive to find and borrow materials, and Libby to listen. I like that Libby did automatic downloads on WiFi so I don‘t have to worry about it. And because I listen to audiobooks I like the interface of the screen for listening to the audio books and Libby a little bit more than overdrive. 6y

LibrarianRyan Libby is Overdrive replacement. Overdrive has been a platform for 12-15 years. It's been updated of course but major change requires new platforms. Eventually Overdrive will be phased out. @jess7 6y

Kaye I agree about changing the face color on the girl at the bottom. Then sometimes she puts her head down or lifts it up. I don‘t remember when she does that. This is a great improvement over Overdrive. I also like that I can do a search through all my listed libraries easier than on OD. 6y

Things I like: better and cuter interface, easier to browse titles, much easier to add titles and download (this was the thing I hated most about Overdrive...took several steps to check out and download); you get an estimated timeline on when your hold will be available, you can tag books to track for later. 6y

Chelleo @eraderneely I‘m not sure I‘m understanding. Once you connect your library account you don‘t need to leave the Libby app and you can link multiple libraries to Libby. How do you listen to the actual audiobook through your library‘s website? 6y

Cortg I like Libby. The pictures are better and it seems more user friendly. Everything takes a little time to get use to and figure out when it's new. Change is usually a good thing. 7y

I've recently discovered the Libby app and started borrowing from my library this way! It's great. The only trouble is 1 the limited audio books available at the moment but I'm hoping over time they start to increase. And 2 that you can only borrow for a week and books are always on hold with someone else so you can't reborrow straight away. That's not long enough for a dyslexic girl like me! And then I have to wait weeks to finish my book!

@OverDrive users, have you downloaded Libby yet? It's an app that's supposed to streamline managing your library loans and borrows as well your reading and listening experiences. I read borrows via my Kindle but love that this app lets you add all of your library cards and see all of your borrows and holds from multiple cards AND multiple libraries, all in one place. I forgot to ask the reps at #ala17 why it's named Libby 🤔So far, I like it.

dariazeoli I just saw mention of this app on Reddit last night and wasn't sure I should down since I have the Overdrive app. My county got rid of Overdrive so now I only use it for Brooklyn Public Library 7y

Amie I have it. There are a couple of things that it lacks, but overall it's so much easier to use than Overdrive and I love how it combines all my checkouts and holds from both of the library systems that I use. 7y

Lola @dariazeoli I use (and love) Brooklyn, too :) This is actually an @Overdrive app/product. For now, they are gong to keep both ways of accessing and using their content but this app was designed to answer user complaints that the original OD was clunky and difficult to use. I don't have any problems with OD but I do like how this centralizes everything. 7y

Lola @amie That centralization is my favorite part! Per the @overdrive reps I spoke to yesterday, the goal is to shift entirely to the Libby interface but it will be a gradual process. 7y

Amie @tpixie you can see all books you have checked out and on hold from all libraries in one list. You have to switch between libraries to search the catalogs. The only problem I've had is that it didn't save my place in an audiobook once or twice. 7y

Lola @tpixie I mostly love it! I can see all checkouts from all of my libraries/cards (3 library systems, 8 cards) on one shelf. Ditto holds. You do have to switch between libraries to look for books-would love if it would search all of my libraries at once like the OD desk top version does (although I find that software cumbersome and never use it). Reading content is much better on Libby than with the OD app but I mostly use the Kindle app to read. 7y

Much has been written about Winston-Salem, NC, since the 1700s, when Moravians settled the area. The tobacco industry made enormously wealthy the Reynolds family whose descendants still will not speak of the scandalous murder that happened when the torch singer Libby Holman ripped into this staid southern town. First famous for her recording "Moanin' Low"?, she became infamous after a wild party in the Reynolds mansion after ZSR was found dead.

Hobbinol @Hooked__on__books WF is an excellent school. Hope you enjoyed your time here. I've lived here long enough to have mixed feelings about it. When I retire, I'll probably move to New England (I can't handle the long hot summers very well), but there's so much here I'll miss! 7y
