How did you chose this book: for christmas last year, my parents got me the complete set of harry potter books so I wanted to read them all.
write a summary: In the beginning, Dobby the house elf magically appears in Harry's home to warm Harry about hogwarts. Harry potter of course is mad that Dobby was doing this so he went anyways. Harry then is then caught in darkness

I don't know if this is common as I've only owned the one edition of this book from the early 2000s - but this is reproduced in the back and it is just the best 😁❤️❤️

I love the illustrated editions so far. My favorite pictures are images we haven‘t seen from the movies or pictures from notes and textbooks. I guess that makes sense since I‘m a Ravenclaw! 💙📚

I love this series. I enjoy getting to know the characters better throughout the books. Again, a lot more detailed than the films and a great read.
#2 I'm a slow reader, but I DEVOURED this book!!
In this book there was a dolip of history of Hogwarts, a new (slightly anoying) teacher of Dark Arts and a astonishingly terrifying story about the chamber, and many more sercrets to be told and reviled. The general pacing of this book is its high energy with a slow build to the climax.If you like books that have no self control of blowing your mind in amazing ways, this is the book for you!

I took Casey on a long #audiowalk to apologize for all the alone time he had this morning. He sniffed everything, met some new people, and leaped right onto a waterlogged couch someone left by the curb.
I‘m close to the end of THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS now! Also, I checked my progress against my print copy yesterday and realized it‘s been seven years since I last read Harry Potter. How appropriate.
I ran into more gloomy skies on my morning #audiowalk, but it hasn‘t rained yet today. Whew. I love rain, but we‘ve had so much recently that the river‘s overflowing and all the gravel walking paths have eroded. Poor Casey‘s paws get all muddy whenever he ventures out, too.
Casey and I took an excellent #audiowalk with Harry, Ron, and Hermione.
Re-reading the illustrated editions in anticipation of the illustrated GoF. Not for the first time wondering if the restorative potion is made with just the tops of the mandrake, or....the root 😳
I will never get over this picture that my pre-husband snapped as I was reading Harry Potter the other day. Ginny would not stop pawing at the book so I finally just turned it around to show her it wasn‘t good and she just stared at it.
Fairly certain she can read.

I gave up on The Little French Bistro after 17% (just really not my style) and have returned to good ol‘ HP. I wasn‘t planning to do a full re-read, but if I‘m already starting the second one...might as well! ⚡️
pickEven though this is my least favourite of the series, I still love the novel, the story and the characters. This time round, I actually realised how stuffed around Hagrid was because of Tom Riddle. Can‘t believe I didn‘t register that clearly the last times I read it. 🤦🏻♀️

Book vs. Movie thoughts
(~10 chapters in)
1. Gilderoy Lockhart in the book is just as annoying as he is in the movie. ??
2. It cannot be argued how heartless Argus Filch can be towards the students both in the movie and in the book. Remember how he gave detention to students for "breathing loudly" and "looking happy"? ?
3. The "Deathday party" would have been interesting to watch.
4. I wonder why Professor Binns was not included in the movie.
