This was a fun spy story featuring a woman with amnesia. It starts really well and a some fun twists. It reminded me of the Findlay Donovan books. The audiobook was narrated well too.
This was probably a more realistic spy novel than ‘The Spy Who Came in from the Cold‘ but I preferred the drama and romance of that novel over so much of the day to day training in this one. I did like this enough to pick — it is well written and devastating in its own way.
For some reason I never really clicked into this book. It wasn't badly written, the characters were pretty well fleshed out, there was lots of action, but it never really engaged me as I like to be engaged. Oh well.
I decided to read it because of all the hype &strange rumors… but past the intrigue I do not get it…
There‘s nothing horribly wrong with it, but the writing style (& 🎧narration)are very light &fluffy even when the subject matter deserves some gravitas, I didn‘t connect with any of the characters throughout the story & it was predictable af.
Book no.9 for the year
Still in love with this family.
Volume two picks up right after the last and a lot is riding on poor little Anya's shoulders but Twilight and his organization might be asking for too much there 😂
Especially as Anya has to get close to the target's son, Damian, which might be easier said than done. The child is smarmy and Anya, who I think has little to no social cues, is trying her hardest but Anya is becoming a fave for me
Failed spies get sent to Slough House. Lamb, their leader, is enigmatic, surly and gives no quarter. Cartwright is quite certain he was set up to fail, he just can't figure out who did it. Then: A kid kidnapped and threatened with beheading. Even the slow horses want to get in on the action.
