This was hard to get into, and was slow paced. However, the story itself is a wonderful gothic one with the requisite scandal and madness. At times I grew impatient with inconsistencies that I realized later were part of the plot and were clues to the mystery. A definite case of a good book at the wrong time for me. I just didn‘t have the patience right now for this but I call it a pick for when you‘re in the mood for a slow burn gothic mystery.
