Really intrigued by this one, also not usually my thing - very in your head, calculating, scheming but so is everyone outside of the six. Definitely putting the next book in the series on hold.
Reminds me of Scholomance for some reason even though the stories are totally different. Maybe just the security aspect.
#serieslove2024 Still in my dark academia phase and this series is pretty good so far. 6 people with different magical abilities all tasked with protecting the Alexandria library where all knowledge is kept. But not before they pass initiation. Lots of secrets, betrayals and alliances. On to book 2! ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2
I went into this read with high hopes for a Magicians-esque trilogy but it didn‘t deliver. Some characters were too cringy and others fell flat. I‘ll admit I made it to the end to know how the story would end. However, I won‘t read the rest of the books. Will I watch the forthcoming series? For sure!
The moral of #scarathlon for me is that I can never be part of too many challenges or make tracking too difficult for myself. What‘s one more?? @PuddleJumper

I‘m not entirely sure how I felt about this book, but the characters engaged me enough that I‘ll call it a pick. The people building this story were my main reason for continuing; I couldn‘t really get a firm handle on the plot outside the obvious steps the story took. Maybe it was me, maybe the book, I don‘t know. Not sure I‘ll bother with the sequel — I‘ll have to see if I‘m still thinking about it in a while or not.
Sorry I'm a day late.
1. School starts back August 23.
2. Tagged. It's not a traditional school, but it was a learning environment.
Thanks for the tag @TheSpineView #Two4Tuesday
The Atlas Six was a book I wanted to like, but ultimately found it just okay. Not bad, but eh.
A group of six inidviduals, all approximately in their early to mid 20s, are recruited at the start by Atlas Blakely the caretaker of the enigmatic Alexandrian Society. As the Kirkus Review succinctly states, “At the end of one year, five of the six will be initiated into the Society, and the reader won‘t be surprised to learn that the sixth person isn‘t allowed to quietly return home.“ Despite their hours & hours of reading, our characters (cont)
So I read this last night in preparation for the next book. I still love it
I don‘t know if I liked this book. It‘s very character driven with no plot. I tried to like some of the characters, but they‘re all kind of unlikeable. We didn‘t learn much about the magical world. We get some history, but not really.
Six people are stuck in a mansion together doing classes or a lot of reading and then practice magic but not sure what the point was.
I might give the second book a try because I‘m curious I guess, but we‘ll see.
Definitely the building block of the series, a little lacking in excitement and could have used a little more editing in spots… but, I still really enjoyed and am looking forward to the rest of the series.
A book based on the Alexandria library, whether fantasy, non-fic or otherwise will always be a go-to for me 😊
When history is written by the victors the narrative can often misrepresent that shape.
I kept thinking of people to recommend this to while listening. It was good!!! Not tooooo much of a plot, until maybe the last hour? The little plot that does exist is great, but it felt mostly like world building and character development. Maybe bc of that, the ending was a bit heavy. Like, there was too much too quick. Maybe it‘s bc I had to tear thru this work fast- I started it too late and only had half of my 7 day borrow to make it work 🥵
DNF . After 60 percent I quit. Really not working for me. The quicker I forget it, the better.

The Atlas Six is a novel written by Olivie Blake that follows the great Library of Alexandria and six gifted individuals that are given the opportunity to enter the hidden Alexandrian society. The readers are first introduced to the history of the library and how it forged its eradication so that the expansive knowledge of the library is kept to the most elite magical academicians among the ages.
As yet unread sprayed edge beauties 💕💕
I thought I had more than this in my collection 🤔🤔
This book was such a fun and chaotic romp! I definitely had a good time reading it and I‘m excited for the next two installments. However keep 3 things in mind when beginning this read. 1. It‘s a character driven book-to a fault! 2. All the characters are pretentious, and self involved (love-able assholes???)! 3. Don‘t take it too seriously and you‘ll have a ball reading it. 💖📚
I shouldn‘t like this book. The characters are all assholes only out to help themselves, but there is something so intriguing about the whole premise of magical people competing to see who will win the chance to protect a vast library.
Finished 5/22/2022
Dark academia. Lots of characters. Sometimes difficult to keep track of everyone and everything and all the plots and subplots
the only problem I had with this book is that I thought it was a stand alone at first. Rereading this shortly!
I'm visiting family this week. While here I'm trying to finish one more book in 2022. It might end up being my 1st book of 2023.
#12Booksin2022. June was a lean month for my. This one was a 4⭐️. It could have been better but, I enjoyed and I am look forward to book 2.
After 30 years of marriage I FINALLY got a book for Christmas!!#WifhList#TheAtlasSix#OlivieBlake
Lots of lovely books for Christmas has given me the best kind of dilemma - What to read next!! I think I've settled on this one which has been on my wish list for a while. I must have been good as Santa was very generous with book gifts this year 😊🎄. I hope he brought you all wonderful books too.
Finally got a chance to open my #jolabokaflod packages from @BookishMadHatter and @TheKidUpstairs It has been a whirlwind of a day and I let the toddler help me open these so I may have some of the chocolate mixed up 🤣🤣 Thank you both SO much for the thoughtful treats. I am super pumped for the books and can't wait to dive in! And all that minty goodness....nom nom nom! I hope you both have an amazing holiday!!!
@MaleficentBookDragon
I thought this was a good read and not exactly what I thought it would be. Great characters and intriguing plot. I will definitely be picking up the next in the series.
Every ten years, the six most talented magic users are recruited by the Alexadrian Society for very secret academic work.
Interesting story, compelling characters and a surprise twist before the cliffhanger ending (I thought this was a stand alone 🤷♀️).
#adventrecommends
This is fantasy, mystery and magic. Six candidates are chosen by the secret society of Alexandrian. Recruited by the mysterious Atlas Blakely they have to prove they are the best, one will be eliminated. I had to read very carefully as to follow what was actually going on. But I enjoyed it and will read the next book.
Picked this up on the way to the hospital. The synopsis sounds good and the cover completely caught my attention. I‘ll let you know. #readingoutside #olivieblake #booksonthewaytothehospital #magicallibrary #newbooks
Although I wasn't blown away by it - I found that the setup made the big reveal at the end far too predictable - this was a thoroughly enjoyable read! I'll be definitely picking up the sequel!
Interesting dark academia premise. A little convoluted but still fun read.
Hopefully this is as good as it sounds.
I couldn't help myself, book outlet is my weakness!!!! The atlas six, hardcover, $6! I'm sold hahaha
Throwback to beginning of October when I started my reread of this book. I listened to the audiobook the first time and wanted to reread in the physical form before I started on the audiobook of the sequel (released at the end of last month). I really enjoyed my reread (even if I took longer than expected), and I made lots of annotations in my paperback copy!
After finishing, I started The Atlas Paradox on audio last night! Anyone else reading?
The first of November and it's a sunny and beautiful 65° day! Taking advantage of this gorgeous weather to read outside for as long as I can! 🍁🍂📚
I did the first 75% of this book on audio and the final in paper. The audiobook narration is excellent and really gives a great impression of all 6 characters. A hyped book but one I really enjoyed and I‘m thrilled I read it as the sequel came out because otherwise that ending would have really annoyed me! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is so rare for me to reread a book less than a year after reading it for the first time. But I really loved this book when I read it at the beginning of the year (on audio first), and wanted to reread before the second book comes out in a few weeks! I think the #Magic system in this book is so unique and fascinating!
Photo is from spa weekend with my family!

I liked the characters: there was a really nice variety of them and everyone was somehow interesting.
I loved the atmosphere and that was the best aspect of this book. Dark and mysterious!
I disliked the writing style: it was unnecessary wordy and it was hard to get the idea behind sentences.
This didn't really have a plot. There was a group of people who had random discussions with each other but nothing really happened.
#SeriesRead2022
Hubby “scolded” me for buying another book from Amazon instead of waiting until our local bookstore had it. I‘m only a little bit sorry because it got bent almost in half in our mailbox. 😞 Any thoughts on this book and the rest of the series?

“Tending to every whim made others unnecessarily combative, mistrustful. They preferred the reassurance of customs, little traditions, the more inconsequential the better. Breakfast in the morning, supper at the sound of the gong. It soothed them, normality.”
