Thank you to everyone who took part in #adventrecommends. I cannot believe how many posts there are - I was expecting to get to Christmas and for there to be 24 posts (all mine!)

I hope you enjoyed doing it! :)

JaneyWaneyB It was great fun @emilyrose_x 😁 I got to share all of my favourite books with everyone. Thank you for running it 😊 6mo
Naj It was a great idea and I got to know about so many new books. Thanks for running such a fun tag😊🙌🏼 6mo
Andrew65 @JaneyWaneyB @Naj I agree a brilliant idea, and great fun. And my TBR Mountain range just grew and grew. 😂 Thanks Everyone.😊 (edited) 6mo
Lcsmcat It was a great idea, and a fun challenge to do. Not only did we learn about new books, but we learned about each other as we read the explanations for the inclusion of each book. 6mo
Amiable I enjoyed participating and sharing books that I think more people should know about! 6mo

Day 24 of #adventrecommends

I rarely read YA Fantasy, but I kept hearing great things about this book and decided to give it a shot. I‘m glad I did. While the underlying concept (kingdom divided by castes, a selection process, a main character who rebels against the norm) has been done many times before, Girls of Paper and Fire quickly sets itself apart from the rest. It is brutal and uncomfortable, but good! I can‘t wait for the next book!

tracey38 I'm in the middle of this one now and enjoying it as well! 6mo
candority I‘m happy to hear that @tracey38! I hope you enjoy the rest of it 😊 6mo

#adventrecommends December 24, the last day. This was fun, and unfortunately went by so quick!
My last recommendation is the Paper Magician (series). It's different and engaging.

IheartYA @BookHoarder32 Haven't read that one yet but it's on my TBR with Holmberg's other books. 😊 6mo
Andrew65 I keep seeing these, I obviously need to read them! 6mo

Inside the O'Briens | Lisa Genova

Pickpick

This book was smack in my wheelhouse--I've lived in Boston, so I'm familiar with the locations and the people and the dialect and the fanatical obsession with sports. The characters were real people to me; Genova did a great job making them all come alive. I laughed in parts and teared up in others. Genova was also very adept at explaining Huntington's Disease in layman's terms without using overly technical language.

Day 24: #adventrecommends

Megabooks Definitely read all her books! She‘s one of my favorite authors. 6mo
Amiable @Megabooks Yes, I've read them all! "Inside the O'Briens" is my favorite of hers. 6mo
Megabooks @Amiable Oh great! Me too. 😁 My favorite is between Left Neglected and Inside the O‘Briens. 6mo

Amiable @Megabooks I also love "Still Alice." Although I didn't think the movie did the book justice. 6mo
Megabooks @Amiable I love that too, but my grandmother lived with Alzheimer‘s for ten years, so it was a tough read. 💜 6mo
Amiable @Megabooks My grandmother, too. I get it. Hugs. 💕 6mo
Megabooks Definite hugs. 💕 I‘m sorry. 6mo

Day 23 of #adventrecommends

I‘m playing catch up again 😳
Given the popularity of Radium Girls by Kate Moore on Litsy, I thought I would recommend a poetry collection that also tells the story of these women. This is a beautiful book of poetry. The cover glows in the dark - how cool (and ironic) is that?!

ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled Wow!! Thanks for sharing! 6mo

Day 22 of #adventrecommends

I‘m playing catch up again 😳
Personals is one of my favourite poetry collections, and each time I read it I discover something new. The poems are about connections - or more accurately, misconnections - and the role that technology plays in our relationships.

Day 24 #AdventRecommends
24 days is not enough time to showcase all my favourite books and am sad advent ends today!
Fredrik Backman is one of my finds of 2018 thanks to Litsy. Loved both of these and A Man Called Ove. These two took a while to get into but ended up loving them. Toyed with my emotions 😢 and led to great moral questions.

Thanks for the idea of #AdventRecommends @emilyrose_x

Christine11 I loved these too - so many layers to it! 😊 6mo
Andrew65 @Christine11 Very much so, I‘d love to know what happened to some characters in the future. 6mo

#AdventRecommends by @emilyrose_x day 24.

It's the last recommendations day and I'm picking up another fantasy, this time a retelling.
I'm sure a lot of you have already read it, but I had to mention it in one of these posts, because I think this is the perfect time for a reread. (I'm planing on rereading them too)

I hope you enjoyed these recommendations. I wish you all a happy Christmas. (If you are not celebrating, I wish you happy reading)

Naj A merry Christmas and happy reading to you as well! 💚💚 6mo
