arlenefinnigan Every child should read this. Such an important book. 2mo
Cinfhen I recently reread this diary , coincidentally on what would have been Anne Frank‘s 90th birthday. It was very moving to see how innocent and childlike she was in so many ways despite her circumstances. 2mo
Centique Thank you for the reminder! I must reread this soon. I read it for the first time at about 10 yo and it was so impactful. I read a piece of it in a school oral competition that year too, wanted everyone to be as affected. 💔 2mo

Anne Frank is the go to book for getting an introduction into WWII and the horror that happened to the Jewish people. I reread this one every few years.

Very first page!!! Look at the date ~ June 12, 1942 Anne‘s 13th birthday 🎁 I forgot how innocent and childish this diary begins. Even when Anne discuses the anti Jewish Laws that have been put into effect, its written with such nonchalance, an air of frivolity. And how foretelling “ I hope you will be a great source of comfort and support.” 😢

Crazeedi One of the books that had a very deep impact on me as a young girl 5mo
mandi1082 I tried several times to read this but it was hard for me because I knew her fate. So sad 😞 5mo
TheNextBook I havent read this book in years. It may be time to reread it. It‘s definitely something I want to read with my son when he turns 12. 5mo

Freespirit I remember reading this as a teen then as a young traveller visiting her house in Amsterdam. It has always stuck with me💕 5mo
rretzler I reread when my 17 yo was in middle school - it was required reading for his language arts class in either 7th or 8th grade. By the time my 14 yo was in middle school, it was no longer required reading. ☹️ I would have loved for him to read this book, but he‘s mildly dyslexic and won‘t read unless he has too. Stupid school for changing the curriculum ☹️ 5mo
Cinfhen All three of my kids read this book in 6th grade @rretzler @TheNextBook and it really made a strong impression on each of them. It‘s hard to read knowing the outcome @mandi1082 @Crazeedi @Freespirit but it‘s also important to let her memory live on through her words. You would think the world would learn through history 😪 5mo
JanuarieTimewalker13 I read this as a young teen (?) thinking the forties were so so long ago, but it was only 30 years earlier. She would be in 90 now, and quite possibly still alive. Never thought about her like that back then. (edited) 5mo
rretzler It is hard to read knowing the outcome, at least for me. When my 14 yo has had to pick books for class some of his choices have been - The Boy in the Striped Pajamas and The Fault in Our Stars! Even though he liked both books, this summer he told me for his summer reading he wanted a book that wasn‘t such a “downer”🤣 5mo
Crazeedi @rretzler wow he is an amazing reader! I'm sure he needs something lighter now for sure! 5mo
Cinfhen So true @JanuarieTimewalker13 although soon there will be no survivors left 😢my friend‘s mom was a hidden Jew in Amsterdam from age 5- 8. Her grandmother left the daughter with neighbors. She gave a talk at our synagogue last year. It was heartbreaking but Thank God her mother survived the concentration camps and came back for the daughter. My friend‘s mom lost all the rest of her family, aunts/uncles/ grandparents and her father. 💔 @Crazeedi (edited) 5mo
Cinfhen Smart kid @rretzler my son read this book the summer he was 14 and really liked it 5mo

Netflix has a special out called Historical Roasts and it's actually really funny and well done. Having read Anne Frank and visited her home in Amsterdam I couldn't pass this up. I was nervous but Gilbert Godfrey as Hitler was hysterical along with everyone roasting him.

Sorry if any offense!

Bookwormjillk I saw the previews for this and can‘t wait to watch 5mo
theresidentromantic This is what we got up to tonight too! I loved it, I liked that every episode had a strong message, and that everyone on that stage was Jewish. I second the recommendation!! 5mo
