1. Ludo. I love board and card games 🎲
2. Has to be Bhutan😍
3. I had originally planned to read around 50 books and I'm at 38, I think it's still achievable
4. Cant think of any🤔
5. Mention a few holiday traditions you had while growing up/ follow currently 🎄

@howjessreads #friyayintro

AmyK1 We always put the tree up the Saturday after Thanksgiving while listening to Christmas music. That evening we light a fire, no matter how warm it is (we live in the south), make hot chocolate and watch a Christmas movie. 4y
Beatlefan129 I feel like this is more common in the Midwest, but we had St. Nick when I was a kid. You put your stocking out on the first Sat. in Dec. and it would get filled with little gifts 4y
ShelfRighteous @AmyK1 Oh the little things we do as a family are remembered forever when we grow up❤ 4y
See All 21 Comments
ShelfRighteous @Beatlefan129 My religion does not celebrate Christmas but as kids we also put up a stocking and on Christmas morning it would be filled with gifts! I think I have to be thankful to my parents for being broad minded enough to include this little practise on a festival that we dont normally celebrate! Your answer suddenly reminded me of this when I was a kid❤ 4y
AmyK1 @ShelfRighteous So true. My daughter took that Saturday off work so she wouldn‘t miss out, even though we would have waited for her to get home. She wants the whole day to do everything ❤️ 4y
ShelfRighteous @AmyK1 She must be enjoying this little tradition so much! Such moments give us nostalgia for years to come🤩 4y
vivastory Growing up the Xmas tradition was opening one small gift the weekend prior to Xmas & watching Xmas story. I don't really have a Xmas tradition as an adult. I usually see my family. Although watching the latest star wars became somewhat of a tradition as 3 of the 4 recent movies released right before the holidays & I'd see it after my holiday dinner. Glad I'll be able to do it again this year! 4y
ljuliel We didn‘t do anything out of the ordinary. Decorate the tree , open gifts, bake cookies and have lots of good food. We still do most of that but on a pared down scale. I don‘t bake the cookies. I buy a dessert. After 42 years I really hate cooking. We also don‘t bother with gifts. If we want something we buy it so when the holiday comes , there‘s nothing else we want except a nice meal and peace. (edited) 4y
Jerdencon We have a few - going to see the Rockefeller tree lighting, decorating our tree, going to dinner for Xmas eve, church on Xmas eve 4y
ShelfRighteous @vivastory Oh visiting family after a long time is very special and festivities make it even more so☃️ 4y
ShelfRighteous @ljuliel Its not about doing anything extraordinary, even if it's as simple as having a dessert together, in peace and quiet, I think it qualifies as a tradition if that's your thing❤ Actually I love peace more than all the hustle! 4y
ShelfRighteous @Jerdencon I just looked up that tree and wow! It's so beautiful🤩 I'm sure you guys enjoy this tradition a lot😍 4y
TheLibrarian My parents and I have always gone to my Aunt's for Christmas Eve. Sadly it's gone from a dinner to mostly appetizers (not a fan). 4y
Bklover Matching pajamas for all of us to open Christmas Eve! 4y
ShelfRighteous @TheLibrarian Oh no🙈 Even I look forward to food more than the occasion itself😛 4y
ShelfRighteous @Bklover Oh❤ I wish I could do that here in India even tho I dont celebrate Christmas! (PS I love those Christmas sweaters too that everybody hates, but Mumbai's weather is so darn humid all the time we cant even wear a simple full sleeved tshirt here😐) 4y
wanderinglynn On Christmas Eve, we ate seafood and opened one present. The rest were opened on Christmas Day. 4y
ShelfRighteous @wanderinglynn That's a unique one! 💫 4y
ImperfectCJ I always looked forward to my kid-jobs for holiday meals: tearing up the toasted bread to make the turkey stuffing, opening the can of cranberry sauce, and putting together the relish plate (do other people call it that? Olives and pickles and veggies to snack on while waiting for the big meal). 4y
Emilymdxn My parents and I watch bad rom coms together every evening of the festive period! 4y
ShelfRighteous @Emilymdxn Oh that must be such fun😅 4y

If you ever believed magic existed somewhere, or were told to stop dreaming or be more realistic when you were young, this is the perfect story for you. This is a story that makes you believe in exploring and adventure. It has a slow start, but then pulls you right in. The protagonist, January, experiences pain, loss, grief n growing up to find who she really is n the author describes this journey vividly. A great read for imaginative people.

● Managed to avoid junk food on weekdays despite having India's biggest festival (Diwali) going on!
● Cardio goal completed!

This one not just disappointed me but annoyed me too. After reading 1200 pages for over 10 days, you just realise that the story was built up for nothing. The protagonist just acts out of her character in the last chapter leaving you wondering what the hell happened. This doesn't get a complete PAN from me just because the story was actually good up until the author decides to ruin it in the last 20 pages. Not continuing this series anymore.

Cinfhen 1200 pages!???!!! 😱 4y

I binged this book in two sittings, it was an absolute page turner. The first half was very creepy, giving spine chills on every page. The second half is downright disturbing, and this coming from someone who reads a lot of horror should warn you about this book. Be sure to have sleepless nights if you pick this one up, but then it also may not be everyone's cup of tea. 💯 marks for being unsettling.

This was even better than the first book. The writer has managed to give the story a satisfactory ending, which I was much skeptical about. The only thing that irked me was that Cas seemed so off about everything, even freezing during important moments. New character added is also completely justified and does not feel forced. Overall a good read.

First spooky read of October, done! I was hooked the moment I read this blurb on IG. For a horror fan, it was pretty difficult to not start reading it immediately. Also, I love the cover art, its fantastic. Now onto d story, I loved Blake's writing, d story is engaging and keeps you sucked in. As for the creepy quotient, it does manage to scare you at some points. What pleased me that it was not a repetitive horror story involving a bunch of kids.

This is mostly a feel good and innocent story. Hoffman's writing, as always, is rich with descriptions just like her other works. What disappointed me was the lack of suspense despite the story being based on a witch and her curse. However Hoffman expertly takes ordinary people and weaves magic into their lives, which is why I love all her books. It should be a pick for anyone who believes in magic.

Faithful: A Novel | Alice Hoffman
post image
Pickpick

The book follows Shelby, who makes a mistake when she's just 17 and tries to punish herself for it for the rest of her life. Hoffman's writing instantly sucks you into shelby's life, pitying her, agreeing with her, sometimes mentally yelling to tell her how wrong she is. This is a touching story of someone who thinks is unworthy of even being alive to actually realizing life is far more than a tiny moment or an accident that happened long ago.

llcoolnate Wow this is a pretty important concept! Sounds like an interesting read! 4y
TrishB I enjoyed this one 👍🏻 and it has a fantastic cover. 4y
ShelfRighteous @llcoolnate True! It taught me to value what I have in life rather than crying over what I dont have 4y

Finding Audrey | Sophie Kinsella
post image
Pickpick

It's an honest look at the life of a teenage girl suffering from severe anxiety. I loved Audrey's crazy family, who fight all the time but love each other all the same. I'm glad this book does not show audrey having miraculous recovery at the end, in fact shows how its often a one step forward and two step back process. The fact that what actually happened to Audrey is not revealed makes me a lil bit mad tho. Also, we all need a friend like Linus.

Practical Magic | Alice Hoffman

Pickpick

Because I read The Rules of Magic first and was completely enchanted by it, this was a little bit disappointing. I was emotionally invested in the prequel which failed to happen for this book. Still a pick, managed to finish this book in one day. Definitely looking forward to more Alice Hoffman.

Tanisha_A #covercrush on this one! 5y

1. I started regular reading in May this year so it was only 40 books till year end. But I'm happy coz I have already completed 27 and currently reading 2 more😊

2. So many🤣🙈 But the most important is regular exercise and building a certain level of fitness. I really wish I can accomplish it this year.

#two4tuesday @TheSpineView Thankyou!😊
