Finding Audrey | Sophie Kinsella
post image
Pickpick

It's an honest look at the life of a teenage girl suffering from severe anxiety. I loved Audrey's crazy family, who fight all the time but love each other all the same. I'm glad this book does not show audrey having miraculous recovery at the end, in fact shows how its often a one step forward and two step back process. The fact that what actually happened to Audrey is not revealed makes me a lil bit mad tho. Also, we all need a friend like Linus.

Because I read The Rules of Magic first and was completely enchanted by it, this was a little bit disappointing. I was emotionally invested in the prequel which failed to happen for this book. Still a pick, managed to finish this book in one day. Definitely looking forward to more Alice Hoffman.

The Rules of Magic | Alice Hoffman

Enchanting! This one managed to pull me in right from the first page, as if the pages were turning themselves. Frances, Bridget and Vincent are siblings who know they're different and the book describes their journey as they discover and accept themselves for who they are. Even if magical realism is not your thing, read it as a story of love, loss and family. Hoffman makes you so emotionally invested in the characters, some parts made me ugly cry.

Its nothing like I have ever read before. Full of quotable sentences, TNC is a story of 2 competitors who fall in love. I'll admit that the book lacks plot, but d author has managed to make it up by her beautiful and detailed writing. You can really imagine the scenes from the book as you read it. Recommended for anyone who needs a dose of magic and love in their lives. If storytelling is the real magic in this world, Erin is a powerful magician!

Dark Twisted Brutal. No silver lining to the dark cloud here. Ania builds an impressive tale of Morrow family who commits heinous crimes together. She makes you sympathize with one member, who you can clearly tell is not like the rest. The dread just builds throughout the plot and ends with an ultimate twist at the end, one that atleast I didnt see coming at all.
The tension is so palpable and continues building until the last moment.

ShelfRighteous This book makes you connect emotionally to the main character and you will be left bereft at the end. Tho left angry and heartbroken at the end, this book surely kept me turning pages for more and would be recommended to everyone loving a good creepy story. 3w

The book has Korede's inner monologue as she tries to protect her younger sister Ayoola, who has a habit of killing her boyfriends. The book is witty and humourous and Braithwaite excels as manipulating the reader just as masterfully as Ayoola manipulates men. The twist at the end sheds some light on the sisters' relationship. Overall an impressive book.
Anyone who has already read it, what do you think about the cliffhanger at the end?

I have never related to a character like I related to Nina. Nina is an introvert book-loving woman, who plans everything ferociously leaving no room for anything extra in her life. The author has smartly given Nina challenges, which she completes with her own struggles and grows as a person at the end. The book gets too cute and even drags sometimes, but the chapters at the end made it totally worth it. A light breezy read to brighten your mood.

I need the final book in this series right now. The pace of is somewhat slow for the entire book, except for the last 30 minutes of the audiobook where you are hit with intense revelations and shocking news and obviously a deadly cliffhanger. I have a new favourite author! Ahlborn's writing keeps you hooked to the story. If the first and second sections are nail biting, the third section will not let you put the book down at all. Loved the author's storytelling, both from the POV of a 10 year old and a married woman. The story gives you all emotions- curiosity, shocked, scared, unsettled and plain dreadful. Best horror book Ive read in a while. Def pick this up if u love being spooked.

The author, otherwise engulfed by a sedentary lifestyle and a desk job, decides to ride from western India all the way up to the highest motorable road in the world-Khardung La in Ladakh. Experiences along the variety of Indian landscapes are described by the author in very simple humour and words, but the tales anyway keep you gripped and entertained. A chapter or two even makes your eyes moist. A good read if you're a 'traveller', not a tourist.
