#24b4Monday progress - it‘s 2:00 pm Sunday in Hawaii. Probably won‘t quite get to 24 hours, but just might make it to 20! That‘s so much more than I expected and I‘ve loved every minute of it!!

nickismith What are you using for your reading timer? 14h
JenniferTapler @nickismith the stopwatch feature on my phone. I just pause and restart it over and over and it keeps going. 14h
JenniferTapler @nickismith it‘s with the alarm clock on iPhone 14h

#bookreview - ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 This book was headed for 5 stars until about 3/4 in when I felt that the new character introduced halfway in was an unnecessary, last-minute addition. It annoyed me. As did the last several pages of the book. Other than that, the story was great and I‘ll be reading more Jennifer McMahon in the future.

#currentlyreading On to book number two for #24b4Monday and I‘m starting Jennifer McMahon‘s The Winter People this morning! I read 8 hrs 23 min yesterday, which was quite a bit more than I expected! Today is a busier day with errands to run and a school banquet for my son tonight, so we‘ll see how it goes! Have a great Saturday!

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 The 4th book in Tasha Alexander‘s Lady Emily series, this was a fun and quick read for anyone who likes Historical Fiction with a Murder Mystery thrown in. This wasn‘t my favorite of the series so far, I think because I‘m not as familiar with the setting (Constantinople during the Victorian era). But it was still enjoyable and I plan to continue the series. #bookreview #historicalmurdermystery

#24b4Monday - It‘s 4:30 pm Friday in Hawaii - not a bad start! I‘m not sure I can do 24 hours of reading in 3 days, but I‘m up for a weekend at home digging in! Let‘s see how far I get. These are my #currentlyreading, plus the next 2 on my #tbr list! How much can you read in 1 weekend @nickismith

ju.ca.no Winter People is on my TBR too! Do you like it? 2d
JenniferTapler @ju.ca.no I haven‘t started yet - I‘m strictly a one-book-at-a-time girl! But finishing up Tears of Pearl tonight, so planning to start Winter People tomorrow. Will keep you posted! Definitely sounds good! 2d
ju.ca.no @JenniferTapler It really does😁 2d
nickismith I have read 18 fourth grade personal narratives, circle maps about St. Augustine and informational responses about animal adaptations. Does that count? 😂 Just sat down and started Little Fires Everywhere. I picked it up at the used book store today. Hopefully, I will get in more reading tomorrow now that I‘m caught up on grading. Looking forward to hearing what you think of Winter People. 2d

My favorite reading companion. We got this sweet puppy, Leialoha (or Leia as we call her), on New Year‘s Day when she was 8 weeks old. She‘s been the best little addition to our family. She loves to keep me company while I read (or do anything really). Do you have a furry reading partner?

ju.ca.no How cute😍 my parents have a dog and a cat and my former roommate has two cats- but I just moved in with my boyfriend and we don‘t have enough space for a fur baby😢 I really miss having one around though! 2d
JenniferTapler @ju.ca.no our house is crazy!! We have 4 cats, a tortoise, and now this sweet puppy!! The animals outnumber the humans - me, my husband, and my son. 😂 2d
ju.ca.no @JenniferTapler that sounds lovely😍😍 I hope we‘ll soon get a bigger place so that I can finally get cats again😅 2d

#currentlyreading Settling into something light and fun after my last read! This is the 4th installment in Tasha Alexander‘s Lady Emily Mysteries series and I really enjoyed the 1st 3! Strong female main character who becomes an accidental detective in Victorian England. Quick and easy read - perfect after something heavy. #britlit

Read this. (See my previous posts about the book for more). I think this should be required reading for American History! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

100 years later - I sometimes wonder how far we have actually progressed as a society? The world is such a different place, but have attitudes about our fellow humans changed enough?

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks This was a difficult read. We read it for book club 💔 4d

if you‘ve never heard of the Osage murders (1910-1930) please read this book. I‘m halfway in and feel embarrassed that I didn‘t already know this story. Every American should know this story. I grew up in Oklahoma - never mentioned once. This is not a feel-good story, but it‘s an important story that must be kept alive. Like stories of the Holocaust, slavery and colonialism, we must remember these stories as cautionary tales. #nativeamericanlit

vivastory This story was just shocking 6d
JenniferTapler @vivastory I think I‘m not that shocked that it happened - but that it‘s been so thoroughly covered up! 6d

#CurrentlyReading - I can‘t resist a good true crime book. I‘ve lived in Hawaii for most of my adult life and consider it home, but I grew up in Oklahoma, in a small town on the edge of an Indian Reservation. I‘m embarrassed to admit I‘ve never heard this story. But I‘m familiar with the themes and the area. Looking forward to digging further in. #truecrime

Absolutely loved it! Barron reminds us what badasses women of the Victorian and Edwardian periods had to be. In my opinion, Jennie Churchill is the greater hero than Winston for all she endured and overcame. #bookreview #historicalfiction #britlit

On my #TBR shelf for the rest of February and March. Moloka‘i is my pick for #LMPBC Group H - hope you haven‘t read it Group! This is an ambitious stack for me - I don‘t have as much time to read as I‘d like, but #goals!

Yoshi-and-a-book 👍 I have it. But I‘ll wait for yours to get here! 1w
JackOBotts Sounds great! @Yoshi-and-a-book @megnews @JenniferTapler - here‘s what I‘m thinking for my selection, have any of you read it? 1w
JenniferTapler @JackOBotts no! But it‘s been on my “want to read” list for awhile!! 1w

Yoshi-and-a-book I‘m thinking about this one. Undecided. 1w
JenniferTapler @Yoshi-and-a-book sounds good! 👍🏻 1w
megnews @JenniferTapler I read Moloka‘i for the first round of lmpbc I did. 1w
megnews @JackOBotts Rules of Civility is on my tbr. Can‘t wait to read it! 1w
megnews @Yoshi-and-a-book I‘ve never read The Truth of the Matter. Sounds interesting. 1w
JenniferTapler @megnews hmmm. Did you like Moloka‘i? What about Honolulu? (I‘d like to pick something culturally significant to where I live - don‘t HAVE to, but trying to) 1w
JenniferTapler How do you guys tag book titles in the middle of a comment? I can only figure out how to put it at the end. @megnews @Yoshi-and-a-book @JackOBotts 1w
JackOBotts You live in Hawaii, @JenniferTapler ? I don‘t know how to do tags mid-comment...🤷🏻‍♀️ that would be good to know, though. (And I have not read Honolulu, so that title works for me, as well.) 1w
JenniferTapler @JackOBotts yes, specifically Maui. 1w
megnews @JenniferTapler I loved Moloka‘i and looking forward to the sequel. I haven‘t read Honolulu. I don‘t think you can tag book titles in the middle of a comment. If you can I‘ve never figured out how. 1w
JackOBotts @megnews @Yoshi-and-a-book @JenniferTapler - 🤓 do y‘all have a preference for ink color? I‘m thinking green ink for my mark ups...and what I wouldn‘t give to live in Maui on these colder winter days. 😎🌴 1w
megnews @JackOBotts @JenniferTapler @Yoshi-and-a-book My favorite color is purple! 💜💜💜 1w
JenniferTapler I‘ll use blue! @megnews @JackOBotts @Yoshi-and-a-book 1w
Yoshi-and-a-book Pink 💕💝👚👛🌸🌷💒🎀💖 @megnews @JackOBotts @JenniferTapler (edited) 1w
Yoshi-and-a-book @JackOBotts @JenniferTapler so...tagging during a comment. There‘s a tag 🏷 icon next to the skull and crossbones right below the text entry box when you‘re posting a comment. The skull and crossbones ☠️ is used when you‘re posting a spoiler- something that would give a away or spoil the book for those who haven‘t read it yet. Tap the text box to add a comment and these two icons appear. Tap the tag 🏷 and tag away! (edited) 1w

#RecentlyRead - It was just OK. Plot was interesting, and I did want to find out what was really going on. I didn‘t find any of the characters particularly likable, and the story seemed to just drag on and on unnecessarily. I loved Room by same author, but this wasn‘t as good. #BookReview

Yoshi-and-a-book If you hit the magnifying glass 🔍 you can search for a book. When you select a book you then have to option to pick “reading,” “to read,” or “have read.” If you select “reading” it gives you a pair of glasses 👓...like you‘re reading it. The other way to do it it while you are looking at a post. Tap the stack of books 📚 at the bottom of every post to select “reading,” “to read,” or “have read” for the book named in the post. #currentlyreading My #Anglophile self has had this one on my To-Read list for awhile. Excited to finally get started! A Novel about the life and loves of Winston Churchill‘s scandalous American mother.
