This story was excellent! Liz Nugent wrote an amazing psychological thriller. Lying in Wait completely exceeded my expectations. From the very beginning, the story is shocking and took me on an unexpected journey. I loved every minute of it!

I started my second Liz Nugent this morning. I finished Our Little Cruelties (but can‘t review it yet as it‘s for our Bookclub. ) I‘m liking this tagged book so far 👍🏻an engaging thriller !
I went in blind to this book and I‘m still processing how I feel about it. I didn‘t like any of the characters but the premise of the book was pretty good. It was frustrating how dumb some characters could be. The ending was pretty unusual and I liked it a lot. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I was in complete procrastination mode - so I picked up this random book from my TBR shelf and proceeded to read it in one awful sitting. This book was BAD. Not a pan but a very low so-so. I was expecting a tighter mystery/ thriller and instead I read textbook diabolical crazzzy mommy. Bleh 🤮 Totally got sucked in by the cover and blurb on the back cover.
I would have liked this book a lot if it weren't for the fat shaming, I think. It was persistent throughout, came from multiple characters, didn't make much sense, and barely served to forward the story. This isn't one where you like the characters, but you aren't supposed to. I actually thought the plot was pretty well done. But we need to acknowledge that someone's weight has no bearing on their value or on their inherent attractiveness.
1. Finally back after taking some time off for reading! My 4 year old dog unexpectedly had to be put to sleep after cluster seizures. And we had to quickly get a new young dog bc our other dog is definitely a pack animal. I'm currently reading: Lying in Wait (from my thriller group in last round of #LMPBC), Concrete Rose, and listening to Grown on audio.
👇
@magyklyXdelish got me her pick really early this month, so I actually already finished my December #LMPBC read and sent it your way as well! @SamAnne
This one wasn‘t my cup of tea. It had an interesting concept, but due to some really unnecessary jabs the author kept making about one character, I just couldn‘t get into it. None of the other characters were really likable for me in this one either. 🤷♀️
@rjsthumbelina @suvata
@Alfrazier21 sending out my #LMPBC to you today. I know I‘m super early but I‘m in 2 LMPBC groups this round so I wanted to bang those out first.
Eeehhhhhh now I feel bad that I made this my #LMPBC pick. HOWEVER judging by goodreads I am in the minority. So hopefully you 3 like it better than I did. There‘s a running “issue” with one of the characters that irritates me and honestly if not for that I would have rated higher.
@Alfrazier21 I will mail this to you tomorrow :)
Andrew, a judge, and Lydia Fitzsimons murder Annie Doyle, a drug-addicted prostitute, and bury her in their garden. Andrew begins to fall apart and Lydia becomes ever more determined to protect their social standing and their son, Laurence. But Laurence is not as innocent as his mother thinks. He‘s obsessed with the dead girl‘s family. This has the makings of a Hitchcock thriller. Need to read another book by Liz Nugent. You need to read this!
@Butterflyamore Just got this in the mail tonight. I will read it tomorrow and will mail it to you on Monday.
FEATURING: LYING IN WAIT by Liz Nugent
Was his life and his family made of secrets? That is what it seemed like to Laurence.
LYING IN WAIT had a sinister tone from the start, and it continued to grow in intensity and suspense with a chilling ending.

Lying in wait has been on my tbr for a long time. Today is the day! I‘m at the halfway point and it‘s very good.
Omg what did I just read??? So happy that I picked this up at Walgreens yesterday!!! Definitely a PAGE TURNER!!! I couldn‘t put it down I had to know and now that I know I‘m so mad/sad at the ending!!! #pageturner #amustread
When you start reading a “new” book and in the first sentence you realize you‘ve already read it.. 🤦🏻♀️😂
Ireland, the 1980s. In the first chapter, a woman is killed. Then we gradually learn more about her, her family, and her killers. One of the characters is so diabolical, but this is revealed gradually. I found it to be a solid thriller.
What a wonderful surprise waiting on me when I got home from a long 12 hour shift!! Thank you Cynthia!! You are awesome!! 😘💗😘💗

That's me out I'm afraid. Really couldn't get into this book which is disappointing. I got about halfway and couldn't see where it was going. Plus there wss something too industrial about it which I couldn't warm to.
Not sure if im enjoying this but am plodding on
...
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I enjoyed this thriller! It‘s slower paced and more character driven than some thrillers I‘ve read. I‘m definitely going to read her first book Unraveling Oliver.
Saturday evening festivities. Easter basket all set up, eggs are hidden! 🤩🐇🐰
Again, my review is too long. But I refuse to sell it short. One of my favorites! SUPER WONDERFUL!! #lyinginwait
I‘m terrible at TBRs and also at reading during the school year lol These 3 are definites for this month tho, bc I‘m almost finished with the tagged book and the other two are for my Bookclubs. Never mind I have a stack of expiring library books and just ordered 3 books from BOTM. 🤦♀️
I have a problem. 📚

The hubbs is working late so I‘ve got a delicious healthy meal, dinner jazz radio playing on pandora and this great book as my date....sigh, I‘m a happy girl!
First sentence: “My husband did not mean to kill Annie Doyle, but the lying tramp deserved it.”
Decided to pick my new read for today‘s #wildcard prompt and I‘m pretty excited about that killer first line!.....
Okay, I can‘t not acknowledge that pun 😂😏

This is my second book by Liz Nugent, and it‘s another pick for me. The writing is clinical, almost detached, and the way characters are presented is more psychological profiling that the usual thriller ride, which I find fascinating. However, I can see why this style might not appeal to everyone.
First ✔️ for #Booked2019 #SetInIreland #IrishAuthor
#MusicalNewYear
Well, my current read quickly established #WhoLivesWhoDies!
Happily ticking this off the TBR...AND it works for #Booked2019 #IrishAuthor 🥳
Getting some reading in tonight while Princess snuggles between my legs. She‘s so sweet sometimes.
1. This is a light of Baymax from the movie Big Hero 6. I absolutely love him and was able to find this cute light ❤️
2. To read more (at least 65 books)
3. Best: married my love & went to Italy
Worst: Scooter, my parents‘ dog, passed away and my dad was diagnosed with dementia
4. Spend less on books & get into better shape
5. Already started!!l

Another thrilling and yet in the end not such a satisfying read as I keep hoping for when reading a thriller.
It‘s always the same; I have a soft spot for thrillers and when the reviews are good I can‘t wait to read them myself. And they are hardly ever as good as I expect.
This one is about a boy who carries with him the secret of his father, murdering a girl. He stays home, taking care of his mother. Lots of twists and pov‘s!
Why must every thriller be compared to Gone Girl these days? As if it is the only possible benchmark!
I, for example, liked Gone Girl but not THAT much. Actually, I hope this one will be better! #currentread
“My husband did not mean to kill Annie Doyle, but the lying tramp deserved it."
So begins Lying in Wait, a creepy and engrossing psychological thriller about a murder and a dysfunctional family, riddled with secrets and lies. Told from three perspectives, the novel successfully builds suspense, misleads the reader, and has twists that I did not see coming. And that ending - I read in horror as it unfolded! #netgalley
This was the perfect #AirplaneRead for our recent trip to #NOLA- read half on the way there, and finished it on the way back! I didn‘t do much reading at all there but I did bring in a pretty great #BookHaul at the Garden District Book Shop, featured beside this creepy page turner!
#2018Book115
In real life, I hate people who are incredibly selfish and only look out for themselves. In books, however, I absolutely love these types of characters. And the characters in Lying in Wait are selfish, self-obsessed, unreliable narrators at their finest. There were a few sections that dragged a little, but for the most part, this was a pretty quick read with a fantastic ending.
4/5🌟 For this one!
Available November 27th!
This was a thrilling and engrossing family drama. With twists and turns and I LOVED the ending!
Thanks to the Publisher @SimonSchuster for sending it to me.

Just finished this suspense novel. I got a shock at the end that I probably should have seen coming... #octoberreads
In this last week of September I decided to ease into my Halloween reading and this was a perfect choice. You know at the beginning of the book who dies and who committed the murder. What you don't see coming is this ending. Lydia is a mother from hell. So damn good!
With October next week and the beginning of Halloween reading I'm going to get a bit of a jump by reading a couple of mysteries this week. First up: Lying in Wait.
@AlwaysBeenALoverOfBooks
@vkois88
Prompt: Cunning
If you want to meet a cunning main character, you won‘t want to miss this book.
LYING IN WAIT had a sinister tone from the start.
Ms. Nugent has written an engaging, can-this-really-be happening, pull-you-in psychological thriller.
If you enjoy a book that has you biting your nails and wondering what other evil deeds Lydia is planning, LYING IN WAIT will be for you.

“My husband did not mean to kill Annie Doyle, but the lying tramp deserved it”
This story is DEEPLY disturbing.. the Fitzsimon‘s are one crazy messed up family that‘s for sure with the Mrs being plumb off her rocker. If you want to take a trip on one wild hellish ride this is it. The ending just blew me away it‘s UNBELIEVABLE. Yikes!! I‘m still stunned. I did not expect that!! 4 ☆
